Azrael's face turned ghostly pale at his question. He was not talking of August and she was clear on that and she also knew who he was talking about.
In fear, Azrael gulped on her saliva trying to come up with some excuse. It was completely her fault for ignoring such an important task over an idiot. Yet again it was not her fault. If it was anyone's fault then it was Schoel, he forced this alliance on her. She didn't even want it to begin with.
Now the whole thing was a mess. Thinking about it, made Azrael fumble in anger at Schoel. It was annoying.
Schoel saw her expression change from fear to anger. Her brow furrowed together while cheeks puffed up in annoyance. It's funny that she was so bad at hiding her emotions.
"Whose fault is it?" She mumbled under her breath. Unexpectedly Schoel heard her clearly.
"What did you say?" Schoel questioned back, raising a brow.
"Didn't you hear it for the first time itself?" Azrael bite back, crossing her arms and rolling her eyes.
Schoel didn't say anything further, and looked away in embarrassment. Her tongue was sharper than the scissors.
"Anyway…" Azrael spoke up again, clearing her throat. "Annul this marriage." She continued acting like she didn't care.
"What!" Schoel exclaimed, slamming his hand on the desk and standing up straight. Azrael flinched back by his reaction and took a step regretting her decision of announcing it all together.
Schoel gave a sharp glare at her. Azrael swallowed hard trying to look calm and composed , hiding her nervousness.
"What did you say?" He inquired. His tone was strict and sharp like daggers thrown at her.
"What!" Azrael tried to revolt back, keeping a strong upfront. Looking right into his eyes, with an irate face.
"He doesn't qualify for this alliance. You know that too!" Azrael pointed out.
" Are you questioning my matchmaking skill now!" Schoel roared trying to make her back off. However it backfired on him.
Azrael took a step forward with her hands on hips and furious face she answered back,"Yes! How could you be king of Niflheim if you don't know whether that guy had dark or light energy!!" Azrael didn't hold back this time and went all in.
"Are you talking back to your father now? And even questioning my authority!" Schoel glared back with bloodshot eyes.
"Yes!" Azrael didn't take a second to reply.
"Y-you!" Schoel pointed his index finger at her, trying to come up with an answer.
"Yes, me what!"
"Both of you better stop." Cora's serene voice came from the front. Both Azrael and Schoel turn their head towards the direction of Cora's voice at same time.
"Are you both kids?" She smiled at her words sending chills down their spine.
Azrael and Schoel gulped in fear, and looked at each other and then shook their heads in uniform.
"Then why are you both acting like one?" Cora's smile remained on her lips as she spoke calmly.
Azrael gulped hard as Cora took heavy steps towards them.
"One is over nine hundred years old, another is as old as the universe, and still bickering like kids huh?" Her sneer was like a nightmare to both Schoel and Azrael.
The cold smile like hers was something the whole Niflheim feared. It was an unspoken fact that everytime that sneer appeared on Cora's face it meant the death of someone. It was different that most of the time it was Schoel's.
"I…I have to go check on Augustus. Bye." Azrael made up an excuse and dash out as fast as she could without turning her head back.
Azrael clearly heard the wailing of Schoel for help but she was not interested in being dragged in misery too. Closing the door behind she sighed in relief.
Even she escaped Cora's beating. It looked like Schoel had no intention to annul her marriage and after today that chance of it was negative. Azrael cursed herself for being so hot headed and arguing back.
Azrael didn't want to think about it, and just shook the thoughts off and walked towards August's room. It was not like she minded much, at the end he will just die or become a cadger not her problem.
Not exactly her problem. Instead of having one groom she will need to have one more. Not a problem. Why was she even thinking so much before? That stupid Nat filled her mind with too much gibberish.
Cussing at Natlus, She strolled towards August's room. Ignoring marriage and stuff, the most important thing was his past. He was someone from her dark days, so he must know what she didn't know.
Azrael knocks on the door before striding in ready to know about it. On walking in, Azrael found August laying on the bed, eyes focused at his hand that had turned claw.
"So did I finally become a monster?" August joked, on seeing her enter the room.
"Are monsters a bad thing?" Azrael asked, folding her arms and walking up closer to his bed.
At her question he remained silent and after a moment he put on his infamous smile and looked at her,"Nope. They are pretty cool. As a kid I always wanted to be one." He said.
Azrael just noodles as a response and after a few seconds of silence she heaved out a long breath, "Do you know any Meredith?" She blurted out in one go.
