Chereads / My Wife Is A Grim Reaper / Chapter 9 - Valerie

Chapter 9 - Valerie

"Then take care of him," Azrael ordered, sparing a glance at unconscious August. Natlus gave up and sighed in defeat. This woman was just cruel, no other word can describe her better than that.

'Poor man, what did you do to get in contact with her?' Natlus walked closer to him, pitying him in his mind. But as soon he reached, his eyes dilated in fear and intrigued by him. He looked up back again at Azrael in shock.

It was not legal for him to help a human, that's the rule that applied to both Netherworld and Elysian. Never meddle in the human world.

"He was betrothed to me." Azrael pointed at August through her gaze and shrugged.

Natlus got his answer, but something still didn't settle with him. He could sense the dark magic of August and everyone knows betrothed ones can't have that. And his power no less, at this point Natlus was not sure if the guy in front of him was some kind of soul eater with soul.

After a few minutes of deliberation, Nat gave up and inspected the man on his sofa and then glanced back at Azrael.

"I can't save him. You know why grim reapers and soul eaters don't have a soul right?" Natlus asked, raising a brow.

To which Azrael nodded in response," Because dark magic absorbs energy and souls are nothing but a cluster of energy" Azrael sighed.

"Yes, exactly, his soul is being eaten." Natlus looked at August in pity, he sat down on the sofa beside August, crossing his legs.

"So he will die?" Azrael immediately questioned. Her face turned cold. Natlus was rather enjoying it, seeing Azrael freaking out. It was a new thing to see someone like Azrael caring for a person, how can he not enjoy it?

"Technically, nope," Natlus replied after thinking for a moment. "You have half of his soul, so he can't die. But-" Natlus let out an evil smirk looking at the man.

"Don't even think about it, if you still want that cat of yours alive." Azrael looked at the furry brown cat that came out of nowhere from a corner. He was busy playing with the piles of papers in the corner, innocently.

Natlus freaked out and immediately rushed and stood in between her and Eve. His tall stature blocked her view, "What I meant is, you can't become human anymore." Natlus explained, trying to not make contact with her eyes.

Knowing exactly what kind of nightmare he created, just like he thought a thunder rumbled in the background flashing lights through his window panes. Natlus quavered in fear from the sudden loud noise.

Natlus' heart palpitates, feeling the aura around her. He swallowed hard trying to make eye contact with her.

"I-i…" Nat tried to speak but till then she disappeared into the cold air. Natlus sighed in relief once she left the place. Then glanced back at August who was still lying on the side unconscious.

Azrael barged open the door of Niflheim. In fury, she stomped up to the centre where her desk was. She slammed hard on the wooden oak table. The continuous rumbling of thunder could be heard in the distance.

Azrael looked at the books stacked on the table and with a swipe, everything fell to the ground, as she screamed out in anger and pain.

"Stop screaming." A soft honey-like voice came from behind. Azrael instantly recognised that voice. Her eyes darken knowing who it was, she bit her lips in hesitation before she turned her head to look back at her.

There she was, same body, same petite figure, and same face as her. Azrael hated it, both were the same person yet not. Valerie chuckled seeing the hatred in her twin's eyes. Except for the hair and eyes, no one can distinguish them apart and maybe the fact that Valerie creates life while her sister takes them.

"What are you doing here?" Azrael asked impatiently.

"Nothing. Just here to see your…" Valerie walked closer to her and leaned closer to her, "Misery." She whispered with a scoff on her lips.

She looked up at Azrael and as she thought, her sister's face darkened which gave her immense joy. Every time she sees her sister suffer Valerie can't feel happier. And why will she not? Azrael took something from her that she desired the most to the point she begged her for it. But Azrael never cared for her, the only thing that mattered to her was becoming a human.

Valerie was her biggest supporter in that dream but now it disgusts her. Disgust her that someone like Azrael gets to live a life without pain and heartbreak while she cries every night for him.

"Good thing I killed him before—" Azrael was not even able to finish her words when a strong force tossed her to the wall behind her. Valerie's eyes turned bloodthirsty red, as she heard those words. She already knew what Azrael was going to say.

While on the other hand, Azrael let out a cold chuckle and got up from the floor. She looked at her wooden table, it was split in half. Azrael would be lying if she said she was not impressed with how much her sister's power improved.

Just only bending the wind to her convenience she threw Azrael off to the wall and splitting half that came in between was incomprehensible. Azrael didn't say anything, she just dust off her dress and got up.

Within a blink of a second Azrael was pinning Valerie on one of the gigantic columns. Her arm pressed around Valerie's neck to not give her any chance to escape.

"No matter how good you become you will always be my younger sister," Azrael spoke with an amusing smile on her lips.

But to Azrael's surprise, her sister didn't accept defeat, instead smiled; looking right into her soulless grey eyes.

"Are you sure?"
