Sophia threw herself on the bed, beating her mind with the situation she was dropped in. " I should have made a copy of the necklace before coming to the mountains. This necklace caused me to live with someone who lacks compassion. He devours humans like meat or evening snacks. Who will save me?" She gritted her teeth and wrinkled her nose.
But immediately her mind was struck with an indication that the vampire was not so cruel. He neither harmed Sophia nor abused her. She can swear by her God that he was waiting for her in the hall, hoping for her to resolve her matters. Yet she was not convinced. Her mind was lending more chaos than actually solving them.
She kept weeping on the pillow, with her hands tightened to its sides. The vampire's soft words were making her believe that he was a kind fellow for a fraction of a minute.
Then all of a sudden, the other fraction reminds her of the stories about vampires who eat human flesh. And the vampire, opposite the door, was about to munch on human flesh today, and that too in front of her. Possibly, she would be the next prey falling into his trap. what's worse than that?
Was he protecting her or was he retaining her for a later feast? these doubts blew her mind and caused her panic attacks in the body.
Vows are sacred to vampires. Sophia knew it too. He swore to keep her unharmed if she continues to stay in the palace. But why was the vampire so considerate towards her, while he took away the lives of so many. Why was he nicer towards Sophia? Sophia stood up and decided to give a chance to the vampire.
Sophia opened the door and radiated a warm smile on her moistened face. She wiped tears out of her eyes which were red from excessive weeping. She reached the dining hall with a light heart.
The vampire lifted himself from the chair, and hugging the girl, he whispered in her ears, "I am sorry, Sophia. You are quite sensitive, silly..."
" Please don't call me, silly. I am fed up with that word. I was a bit tense that's why I left the hall. I am feeling better now." Sophia interrupted the vampire's conversation with a serious tone.
"I am happy that you are no longer angry with me. I was worried, sitting here and overthinking a lot that maybe I am the cause of your agonies. Anyways, I am bringing your meal. Sit here." He gave out a warm expression and left the hall.
As he walked out of her sight, Sophia's mind started recalling the moments with Joe. That made her smirk and place her hands on her chest.
The vampire kept gazing at Sophia, with his hands stretched to the waist in a v shape. He cleared his throat and laid a coffee. But Sophia continued to stare upwards, preoccupied with her flashbacks. The vampire struck his finger, producing a voice that rang in Sophia's delicate ears.
" What were you thinking of dear?" asked the vampire, his hazel brown eyes fixed on Sophia. Sophia kept looking at him with fear, she spoke out, " nothing."
The vampire creased his eyebrows sarcastically and said " If there's something you need to tell me, please open it up or I have the truth-uttering portion. With the help of it, I have dealt with many liars. I do not punish anyone without any proof, not even those people I ate in my breakfast." he declared in a solemn voice.
" So, you ate the breakfast," asked Sophia in a serious tone.
" Yes, I ate it, Sophia. You could not tolerate anyone eating a human feast. So, I ate it lonely, before you woke up."
" Now share your pain with me. I won't wait for you for long hours. "
" Okay, What's your name Mr. vampire?"
" Edward Hamilton II "
" Are you a prince?" Sophia's eyes bulged open.
" Yes, this whole palace is mine, dear."
" How old are you."
" I am 123 years old, 23 when I converted myself into a vampire from a human."
" You were a human before? I thought you were born a vampire."
" I wasn't born a vampire, I solemnised myself as one."
" But why, Prince Edward?" Sophia stressed the word 'why' loudly.
" That I can't tell you now, will tell you when I feel the need to."
" But..."
" I told you my decision."
" Okay, Mr. vampire ."
" Call me Prince Edward! keep it on your tongue for the next time. And now tell me about yourself and what you do."
Sophia kept peeking at the vampire's facial features. She couldn't believe that the one sitting in front of her was a prince. Her respect for the man increased as she slowly knew about his past. Her emotions switched from fear to some light feeling. Her cheeks reddened as she looked at the prince.
" You have a lover, Sophia, you can't feel for this vampire. Maybe these are temporary feelings, which will wipe off on their own once I meet Joe again." Sophia kept convincing her chaotic mind.
