Chapter 23 - 23. Against a Magic Swordsman

"Sure" Bane replied nonchalantly, and they headed straight to a isolated land around the corner of the town.

The reason Bane agreeded for a duel, was because, it's a common practice among swordsman to spar among themselves, but it is usually done among people with equal strengths, so both could benefit from it.

Bane didn't thought he would learn anything from this fellow Swordsman, who looks much younger than him, but he wouldn't mind lending a hand or two to help a fellow Swordsman.

'It's my first time having a spar with a magic swordsman' Samuel thought while controlling his excited heart.

It was one of the main reason why Samuel requested for a spar. he needs to learn ,how to deal with magic swordsman, as it's an area Samuel is completely unaware of.

Samuel was the first to initiate, as he performed a Vertical slash from the Basic Swordsmanship and then followed it with multiple sword stabs and strikes.

Bane managed to paried each of Samuel's sword strike effortlessly, but he couldn't hide the surprised look on his face.

'This strength, he is probably a '3 Star' ,No a ' 4 star' Knight , there's no doubt about it'. Bane thought while he continuously dodged Samuel's ruthless sword strike with bare minimum effort.

Just when his sword strikes were easily paried by his opponent, Samuel already knew the outcome of the duel, but he didn't stop and started performing his utmost, even surpassing the time when he fought the goblin general.

But still it was of no use, after about 15 minutes, taking all the attacks from Samuel, Bane change his posture as he gave menacing look toward's Samuel and said.

"Now it's my turn"

Bane leaped forward and performed a neat sword stab, targeting Samuel's wrist.

"What ? , you managed to dodge that ."

Bane made an absurd expression when he saw his sword hitting nothing but air, and the person of interest already leaped multiple meter's away from him.

Even though he didn't give his all on that sword strike, but it should be more than enough to deal with a ' Four Star Knight '.

Bane clenched his sword and attacked Samuel with barrage of heavy sword strikes, and again Samuel managed to dodge most of his attacks, while few of them passed through Samuel's defence, giving his multiple scratch wounds all around his body.

"Haah! , Where you born with that reflexes, or did you do some kind of special training for that." Bane probed after seeing, how Samuel even managed to dodge his barrage of attacks.

"My Master put me through a Special training ,to specifically train them." Samuel answered truthfully.

"I see, that makes sense, let's end this duel for now shall we" As Bane said those words a blue light started emitting throughout his whole body

and his figure disappeared and suddenly appeared in front of Samuel. The last thing Samuel saw a huge sword desending on his head.

"Ah!, What happened " Samuel woke up from his daze as he looked at his sword lying on the floor and a huge black sword around his neck.

"You Lost" Bane said with a wide grin on his face.

At first Samuel was a bit confused but soon remembered what just happened in front of him, as he asked.

" What was that light coming from all over your body ?" Samuel probed as he couldn't control the curiosity built inside him, as for the loss , he already forgot all about it , Samuel wasn't such a weak hearted person who would be broken with just a loss from a spar.

"Ah that, its body enhancement magic. it increases the speed and strength of a magic swordsman by multiple times, it's the most basic magic every magic swordsman uses."

Samuel gave a nod after understanding the entire situation, he already knew the difference between him and Bane is like heaven and earth, only reason why he was able to last this long was because Bane was only using his swordsmanship to fight Samuel, but even then he was overwhelmed.

"Are you from some major Faction or something" Samuel inquired but soon replied "You don't have to answer if you don't want to".

"It's alright it's no big secret, I was a student of Divine thunder Academy, But I already left that place."

"Huh left that place?. Why ?" Samuel asked , the whole reason why he came to this kingdom was to enter the academy, but the person in front of him left that place on his own violation.

Looking at Samuel's curious gaze Bane chuckled before a sigh escaped from his mouth.

"As a Commoner I had to endure a lot in that place, It's an Academy which basically follows the nobility superiority policy, So they can't really accept anyone else being better than them."

"Especially if that person is not a noble blood. " Bane quickly added.

Samuel gave a deep thought, as he felt this story is quite similar to someone else he knew. Someone he has spent most of his time for the last two years.

Yes, it was none other than Samuel's master Hemdall. he was also a victim of such incident.

This made Samuel aware how cruel the world outside can be.

As Samuel was lost in his thoughts, Bane coughed and continued with his story.

"A few days ago, I was told, I would be allowed to take part in the tournament only if I removed my Family name and joined as an adopted relative of a branch Family of Count Murdoch."

Hearing this statement Samuel couldn't hide a sudden digust appearing on his face. If someone told him to abandon his living family's name, he might as well swing his sword as a response.

"My parents sacrificed a lot to raise me to where I am. Even if I am someone who doesn't believe much in familial bonds, I won't be doing something so disgrateful as abandoning my family just for my sake."

"So after my rejection I was completely isolated in the Academy, I was even excluded from the Competition. I guess that was my breaking point, as I packed my stuff and left the academy without giving a second though."

After listening to Bane's story Samuel couldn't help but think 'I guess getting rejected from that Academy was the luckiest thing that could happen to me, Or else I might have never met master or even have chance to fight a goblin general'.

" I see, are you gonna continue training your swordsmanship here" Samuel asked.

Bane nodded his head and said

" Yes, I am planning on staying here for couple of weeks, it would also help me clear my head a bit".

Samuel intrigued " Them you wouldn't mind having a daily spar with me, would you ?"

"Sure" Bane replied with a polite smile on his face.
