When the whole world was rushing to clear tower tutorials due to fear of missing out, I was forced to try my luck in tower tutorials, fearing for my life.
I reached out to the rusty knob of the worn-out closet door with chipping paint that I had designated as my private entrance to the tower. When I grabbed hold of the old knob before I could pull open the closet door, the tiny blue dot in the upper left corner of sight expanded into a translucent blue screen reading,
[Do you want to enter the tutorial floor?
(Yes/No)]
"No," I answered, and with that, the translucent blue screen minimized to a tiny blue dot in the upper left corner of my sight. And the closet door opened as a regular closet but not as an entrance to the tower.
Ignoring the cluttered closet, I reached for the neatly folded orange insulated coveralls on the top shelf of the closet. This coverall was Ryan's Halloween costume. There is a reason why I was looking for it. According to those who have been to the tower, when you enter the tower, you will be teleported to the tower floor with only one layer of clothing.
Usually, everyone wears undergarments, outerwear, and innerwear or a few more extra outer layers in case you are in a chilly region. When you enter the tower, magically, all your other articles of clothing will vanish, leaving you with your undergarments. For reasons unknown, the tower only allows you a single layer of clothing, and other extra layers you were wearing are left behind at the entrance.
The same applies to socks and shoes. If you're wearing socks underneath your boots, you will enter the tower with just your socks, leaving the shoes at the entrance. Therefore, I planned to enter the tower wearing insulated coveralls, rubber gloves, gumboots, and a yellow safety helmet which were all part of Ryan's Halloween costume, a construction worker.
The insulated coveralls, rubber gloves, and gumboots were waterproof, durable, and covered every inch of my body. This attire is a bit uncomfortable, but it is better than fighting an unknown enemy at an undisclosed location in your undergarments. As for the safety helmet, if needed, I planned to use it as a blunt weapon as trial takers could not take any weapons on a person into the tower.
Changing into the Halloween costume, I did some warm-up exercises to make myself comfortable with the outfit and prepare for the upcoming struggle of life and death. Later, once again, I stood in front of the worn-out closet door with chipping paint. Hesitation and fear were apparent on my face while reaching for the closet door knob. My hands were cold and shaking despite being covered in rubber gloves.
Pausing for a second, I closed my eyes and went over the chain of events that led to this point and why it was vital for me to come out victorious from this.
Hesitation and doubt dull your response and reaction. Therefore in the face of my enemy, I can not let doubt second guess my decision and hesitation hinder my action. My mindset needs to be at its peak to work with the heightened senses and adrenaline rush when facing imminent danger.
I open my eyes with a resolute and firm mind. Resolving myself, I grab hold of the rusty knob. Immediately the tiny blue dot in the upper left corner of sight expanded into a translucent blue screen asking,
[Do you want to enter the tutorial floor?
(Yes/No)]
"Yes," I answered as I pulled open the closet door. This time a pitch-black passage greeted me instead of a cluttered closet as the translucent blue screen minimized to a tiny blue dot in the upper left corner of my sight.
Staring at the pitch-black passage, my resolve began chipping away with fear. Still, I forced myself into the dark passage. When my feet were in the passage, the darkness cleared, and an unknown radiance shed light on my surroundings. Opening my sight to a field of bones. As far as I could see, every inch of the ground was covered in bones. I, myself, stood on a pile of bones. Right now, I couldn't be more proud of my preparedness to wear gumboots.
Feeling the cold wind ruffle my hair, I felt my head with my hands to find that my safety helmet was missing. It seems the tower left it at the entrance. Losing my blunt weapon, I did not panic as I wasn't short of things that I could use as weapons, surrounded by large heaps of bones.
My surroundings came as a massive shock to me. Everywhere I looked, I saw nothing but heaps of bones, not to mention the heavy smell of rot and death in the air, which almost rendered me unconscious. Not letting the circumstance influence me, I rummaged through the pile of bones I stood on in search of a big strong bone that I could use as a blunt weapon against my enemy.
Once again, I couldn't help but commend my preparedness for wearing rubber gloves. If not for them, I don't think I could dig into the pile of bones and go through each bone one at a time until I found the perfect bone for my defense despite the disgust I felt knowing that these bones seemed to resemble the bones of a human. My hunch became stronger when I dug up a skull, a human skull.
With the thought that the heaps of bones that I saw belonged to humans, my heart went cold, thinking how many human corpses it would take to cover a field with piles of human bones. My body shivered with the passing wind even though the coveralls insulated the cold. The gravity of my circumstances couldn't be more apparent to me than ever.
My disturbed mind was alerted as the tiny dot in the upper left corner of my sight expanded into a translucent blue screen welcoming me to the Tower of Trials and updating me about my tutorial trial.
