Eva's stream of depressing thoughts were interrupted by Lucas rushing into the cave and grabbing his sword. Fear froze her in place as the memories of the ape beast filled her mind.
She should be rushing outside to fight as well, but her limbs felt heavy.
'Is this a side effect of getting sick?'
Lucas rushed out of the cave and stood next to Red, who was standing with his fur raised and ready for battle.
A pack of wolves exited the forest and surrounded the small cave in a semi-circle. Thankfully, Eva was still in the cave, so Lucas did not have to worry about his back. As long as he could hold the front she would be safe.
A yowling growl came from Red as he asserted his sharp claws. The wolves growled back in answer. Lucas stood back and thought about their situation.
