The fire was finally burning by the time the snow began to turn into flurries. It seemed to dance to the ground around them.
The snow piled up on the bedroll that Eva and Red were tucked into. Red looked miserable and was looking at Lucas with hate.
Lucas picked up the edges of the bedroll and pulled it closer to the fire. The motion jostled Red, causing him to growl under his breath.
Lucas brushed off the piled up snow on the bedroll. His hand brushed against Eva's forehead as he examined her current condition.
He felt the mana stir just under his skin, as if warning him that she needed to be healed. It made him feel uncomfortable and anxious.
Red grumbled at the rough handling once more and finally squeezed out of the space in the bedroll. Lucas frowned at the leopard, but Red sneezed in defiance.
"Fine, you can be on lookout."
