Eva woke to a cold burst of wind. She shivered and clung to Lucas until she realized they were moving. Forcing her eyes open she looked directly down where a lot more distance than should be possible was between her and the ground. A small shriek escaped her throat.
Lucas tightened his hold on her immediately. Eva peeled her eyes from the dizzying heights and pushed her face into his chest. She must have cried herself to sleep, not knowing how much distance they had covered. Or really how much time had passed. They seemed to be in the shadow of a mountain off the side of a cliff.
"It is okay. I will not drop you," Lucas whispered into her ear.
As much as she hated to admit it, his reassurance eased her nerves tremendously. It did not stop her from clutching at his chest desperately, though. Her body couldn't be that convinced.
"H-how long was I asleep?" she asked.
