The carriage rode quietly through the half-built city. Eva's eyes were drawn to the many races building an endless sea of buildings. She could see the many empty shells of soon to be shops.
"There are so many buildings," she said, half entranced.
"The king ordered it to be built into the second largest city in the country." Lucas replied.
"The second largest?" Eva looked away from the window in surprise.
"He thinks we could attract new trade through a city run by a non-human race."
"Isn't it too much to build so many buildings this early? What if they sit there empty?"
Eva imagined the completed buildings gathering dust. That would be sad in its own way. Asking shops from the capital to move would also be too much.
"Over half of them already have lease contracts."
