Eva awoke to Lucas' head laying on the bed beside her. Her heart broke slightly as she noticed the exhaustion on his face. She brushed back his hair with her hand.
The action immediately woke him up. He opened his eyes and let Eva play with his hair for a bit. The room was dark now, only lit by a single candle.
"Why did you not come to bed?" Eva asked him.
"I must have been more tired than I realized. How are you feeling?" Lucas pushed himself up and stared down at her with worry.
"I am fine. I was just a bit tired from traveling," Eva lied.
"Since when do you lie about your health?" Lucas pressed his palm against her forehead.
She still had a slight fever. He frowned and sent some healing magic through his touch. Eva reached up and pulled his hand to her cheek and leaned into it.
She sighed and closed her eyes until Lucas' magic stopped pouring into her. It was enough to just be this close to him. She pressed her lips against his hand.
