Eva's hand shook as she picked up the wineskin that contained her water supply. It was almost empty. It was impossible for her to tell how much time passed as she lay in the dark cell. Only the faint dripping sound somewhere and the occasional skittering of rodents reminded her of where she was.
What worried her the most was the pain in her stomach and weakness in her grip. How long had she been down here? She remembered that the man said something about a healer but it had to have been more than a day since she had met anyone.
Of course, she had been unconscious for some time. It was possible someone visited in that amount of time. Sometimes she thought she could hear footsteps only to be met by silence.
She sighed into the darkness and leaned against the wall once more. There was not enough leeway in the chains to allow her much comfort. If possible, she would like to rub her stomach or relieve the strain in her arms.
