"I must say the dress my wife picked out for you fits you well."
The King picked up a pastry and placed it on her plate. The steam from the cup of tea wafted up into her face as she took the cup into her hands. She took a sip and immediately set the cup down with a slight clatter. It was too hot.
She heard a slight snicker come from across the table but she couldn't bring herself to look at the man sitting across from her. She stared fixedly at the plate with the small pastry on it.
"Mrs. Einhardt, there is no need to be nervous. Your recent marriage has made you basically a branch member of the royal family."
Eva's eyes widened at his comment. She doubted his words, but his comment did not ease the nervousness moving through her hands. The unfamiliar title also confused her.
"Einhardt?" Her voice shook a bit.
