A knock on the door of Eva's room made her jump. A frown crossed Leyla's face as she opened the door in the outer room. Eva waited in anticipation. It was early morning and birds were chirping outside her window.
A sigh of relief escaped her as Leyla re-entered the bedroom with an ornate looking envelope. It was decorated with silver and pretty ribbons. It reminded Eva of when she was a noble and her tutor taught her how to decorate her invitations.
She had thought that those days were behind her, but now that she thought of it, she was a noble again. Marrying Lucas had automatically made her a noble. It was almost silly how she struggled to get this far.
In the end she had done what her father wanted. She pursed her lips before taking the ornately decorated envelope. The paper was soft and almost velvety. Leyla handed her a small knife so that she could open the envelope.
