Eva awoke to the smell of fresh air. The window across the room was ajar and a cool fresh breeze gently kissed her face. Red had figured out how to open the windows recently to be let out of the room. Eva felt envious of the freedom he showed.
Spending everyday in this room was stifling and she felt like an exhibit for the maids to stare at and attend to all day. Chatting with Leyla was refreshing, but she was still stuck in this room. The same four walls, decorations, and routine.
The fire crackled off to the side and a shiver went down her back. The weather was unseasonably cold, she was told. That is why she had been stuck indoors for so many days.
"I want to be in the forest."
She covered her lips in shock. Snippets of her memory were in the forest, but this was the first time she longed to be surrounded by trees. She looked around the room and relaxed. It was still early morning, so no one had entered the room yet.
