Lucas wiped the sweat from his brow. He had managed to grab an egg, wrap it tightly and deposit it into his bag before descending back to the forest floor. His plan was working almost too well.
Up above, where the griffins were nesting, he heard a light scratching sound before a screeching roar made the entire area shake. Lucas fell to his knee and cursed under his breath. The pressure was overwhelming and he believed it had something to do with that larger griffin that looked different from the others.
He wanted to leave as quickly as possible before the griffins noticed. The deadline the King had set was unreasonable and wasting precious time getting out of the mountain range would be troublesome. Not to mention he would have to evade their search efforts now.
