The previous stench of the goblins was now coated with smoke and a new pungent smell took its place. Eva was coughing now as she ran amidst the billowing smoke. Starting a fire in such an enclosed space would obviously have this effect. She wanted to kick herself for stopping to pity the goblins in the cave.
This was going to be the outcome anyway. They would all have to die in the end. She told herself this, but she just couldn't bring herself to regret ending their life in such a horrible fashion.
As they broke free from the mine, Eva fell to her knees and gasped for air desperately. Red padded around her as if trying to check if she was hurt. Eva held out her hand and stopped the leopard.
However, Red's attention was on the entrance to the mine and his fur was standing up. A slight growl left his throat and Eva felt a chill run down her back. She turned to the entrance and within the dark black smoke a larger figure appeared from the cave.
