A shock wave resinates throughout the stadium. Lisa stands stunned as Duke shifts from man to wolf, his orange fur spiked as he stood to his legs. Lisa looked at the clock. Only 10 seconds left. She then looked at her the floating numbers behind her. Duke prepared to rush one last time at his foe, but was instantly stopped as Lisa threw up her hands. "I give up."
The stadium falls silent, only to be followed by murmurs. "Did a knight just give up?"
Sable walks up to the stands comprehending the situation before chuckling. "Team 1, you have passed the third exam!"
Team 1 beaten and bruised, all fall stunned. Duke quickly reverts to human and falls fast asleep. Don doesn't even think as he rush's to everyone's side checking on his team. On the other hand, Ryan stood silent as he clinched his fist, thinking. 'Damnit, I couldn't do a thing. My instincts told me if I tried to get in the middle of that I would have died. That damn sword girl is stronger than I thought. Then there's that silver-haired girl. She could hold her own with that monster with no help. Who knew that army ass could transform into a werewolf? Fine, I'll remember your names Mai, Nina, and Duke. I'll make sure that I am the strongest one here.'
Team 1 walks up to the stadium clinic which was in full view of the field. Caleb looked at Sable, almost confused. "How can a bunch of applicants be that amazing? Any one of them could be a knight one day."
Sable put his hand on Caleb's shoulder. "I told you all this year will be amazing. However, don't go hyping Team 1 too much. They have a rival on Team 2."
Caleb looked down at Team 2, who was walking down to the field. The team comprised only 3 members. Oscar the green-haired archer, a female with blonde long hair and a large sniper on her back, and a male with short, slicked back black-hair. Caleb coughed awkwardly. "I'll be honest, I didn't read their dossiers."
Sable chuckled. "Yeah, then I'll explain to you. That green-haired guy is Oscar Nelafo."
Caleb flinched back. "Nelafo? That sounds...."
Sable lightly nodded his head. "Yep, he's part of the Nela clan. The same clan that hunted the Jutten race to extinction. That girl is Maria Caldwin, British special forces."
Caleb laughs. "Her, she's no older than sixteen."
Sable smiles. "That's right. She is the youngest member in history. Her skills with that rifle are second to none. Hell, she could give knight Decon some pointers. That last one is the one to watch out for, though."
Caleb leaned forward to get a better look at the black-haired man. The man was slim yet built. He wore all black and walked with an odd grace. "I see nothing special about him."
Sable looked at Caleb with a wicked grin. "That's the point. His name is Alme Snow. You wouldn't tell from a glance, but that 18-year-old is the world's most feared assassin. His kill count was well into the hundreds when he was just 14."
Caleb jumped. "I thought you hated killers. Who convinced you to let him join?"
Sable's face contorted into a demon like smile. "No one convinced me. I was the one who invite that little demon!"
Team 2, stood in the middle of the field as a man wearing a straitjacket in a blindfold and ear muffs was rolled out. Oscar chuckled nervously. "That's a knight?"
The man in a lab coat who was rolling the man out leaned over as he took off the ear muffs. "Remember, this is just a test don't kill them."
The blindfolded man smiled wickedly. "Yeah, yeah, can I go play now?"
The man in the lab coat simply sighed. "Yes, have fun."
An explosion of white energy surrounded the blindfolded man. Alme's eyes widened. "Everyone get back!"
In an instant, the man in the straitjacket was standing in front of Oscar. His frame was small and he was no taller than 5'5. The pink hair that sat on his head fell to his eyebrows. "Hi, my name is King. What's yours?"
Oscar hesitated to react before jumping back, reaching for his bow. Oscar's hand stopped short as he felt something grabbing his shoulder. He turned to see the pink-haired man again. "That's not nice. How are we supposed to play if I don't know your name?"
Sweat rolled down Oscar's brow before with a single swipe from the man's hand, Oscar's head rolled off his body. Oscar could still breathe and think as panic set in, followed by confusion. The man walked over to his head, picking it up. "Come on, what's your name?"
"Oscar, Oscar, OSCAR!!!"
Oscar blinked to see Maria shaking him. "Why did you freeze up like that?"
Oscar reached to his neck double checking if his head was still on its body. "What just happened?"
Oscar looked up to see across the field. King stood smiling, his eye's glowing white. Maria assessed the situation. "Did he do something to you?"
Oscar shook his head. "I can't say for certain, but it felt like I was just in a nightmare."
Alme spoke up, catching the other two's attention. "The first step to any victory is knowledge. We stand at a tremendous disadvantage if we can't figure out what his miracle is, and I doubt he'll be so kind to tell us, like Team 1's opponent."
King laughed hysterically. "Why would I do that? That's no fun at all and I want to play!"
Caleb loudly sighed. "Why, would you have King be an examiner?"
Sable giggled. "Cause he asked me if he could."
Caleb's face turned red as he turned toward Sable. "That guy is too unstable. We can't even send him on team missions cause he's too unpredictable."
Sable's face turned serious as he looked at Caleb. "I have to loosen his leash every once in a while or we'd have another Zero on our hands. You know that we need him if any inquisitor goes rogue."
King clapped his hands joyously. "Okay boy's and gal, let us play a game of imposter!"
