In a quiet shady part somewhere around the party premises, a man in an expensive suit spoke discreetly to a hooded man in black.
"Do you have any information on them yet?" the man inquired in a low serious tone.
"Not yet. I visited the two towns from here, Berrybay and Rashville, but I found nothing. No one was familiar with the name Kaitlyn Leos. It's possible she changed her name when she came here." the hooded man relayed.
" That's plausible, but what about the sketch I made of her? Did that help?" the man asked, his question revealed his anxiousness and expectancy for some news.
"The people did not recognize her. I'm yet to check the last town Arindale. I may find something there since that town is very shady and dangerous. "
"Arindale?" the man in the expensive suit questioned as if remembering something about the name."Ah, is it the town that suffered the explosion some many years ago?"
"That's the one." the hooded man replied.
"Alright, see if you can get any information from there." the man said and handed a small brown envelope to the hooded man."Call me if you find anything."
The hooded man took the envelope which contained money and disappeared into the darkness leaving the man in the suit behind.
For a moment, the man stood thinking about something, he was disappointed that this time too, he had got no information about his wife and child. Nevertheless, he had hope that Ares, the private detective he had hired would find something out in some few days.
He heard a voice behind him.
"Father, anything yet?"
He turned and saw his son approaching.
"Nothing yet," he said shaking his head and his son heaved a deep sigh.
"Ares is however certain that he may get something from Arindale. The town is located in the east of here."
" Don't worry, Father, something is going to come up with time." the man said to his father who seemed tensed and agitated with everything that was going on.
"Alright, son. Let's get back to the dinner party."
The two men walked away from where they were standing heading toward where the party was still ongoing.
Time was quick to pass. The evening was gradually turning into night. They had already taken their food and the music that played in the background was soft and serene with some couples dancing to its rhythm.
"It's time to go."Xander said to Lea after he was done talking to some clients.
Lea nodded and both of them stepped out of the party venue. On their way to the car, Lea saw Lucille approach them.
"Leaving already?" came her velvety voice.
" I'm afraid so. We have some important work tomorrow."
At Xander's words, the woman's expression changed at him referring to himself and Lea as 'we'.
"You mean yourself and your secretary?"
"Right. We are leaving now. I'll see you later, Lucille. It was nice talking to you today." Xander said and entered the limousine along with Lea.
The vehicle took off leaving Lucille standing there with a sharp expression registered on her face.
Throughout the ride, both Lea and Xander remained quiet till the driver arrived at Lea's home. She stepped out of the car and waved at her boss.
"See you tomorrow, don't be late to work." Xander said and Lea saw the limousine take off.
She sighed and turned, approaching her house.
At the entrance, she pressed the doorbell and in a few seconds, the gate was opened. She entered and greeted her dad who had come to open the gate.
"You are still awake, dad."
"I was up waiting for you to return dear, How was your evening?" Mr.Gordon inquired from her daughter as they entered the living room.
"I had a long evening, dad."
"I can tell. You look tired. Go take a shower and rest."
"Alright, dad.Goodnight."
"Good night dear. Have a sound sleep."
Mr.Gordon saw his daughter enter her room and he headed for his bedroom too.
The melodious song of the birds by Lea's window woke her up. The soft morning rays of the sun beamed through her window and fell on her face. She sat up on her bed squinting her eyes.
She felt her whole body ache from stress and tiredness. The night's event had taken its own toll on her and she felt a mild headache. She raised her hand to touch her head.
Within seconds, she suddenly felt her body heating up. She felt a funny feeling in her tummy which made her uncomfortable. Her body began to shake in a matter of seconds and she called out to her sister who was not awake yet.
"Nicole...Nicole"
Lea saw her sister respond and sit up on her bed wearily.
"Nic, I think something is happening to me. Call mom and dad." Lea's voice was husky and rough. She now shook vehemently.
Nicole upon seeing her sister in that condition, whatever sleep she still had lingering in her eyes vanished without a trace. She jumped from her bed and went to stand by Lea, alarmed.
"What's happening to you sis, why are you shaking so much?"
"I don't know, Please call mom and dad" her voice shaky and slightly above a whisper.
On Lea's words, Nicole dashed out of the room towards their parent's bedroom.
"Mother, Father...something is happening to Lea. She's shaking." Nicole barged into their room.
