Ambrosia walked down the stairs which was not something she would prefer to do. She was weak and her strength wasn't coming back quickly as it always does.
That is how it is whenever she has same nightmare.
Just when she stepped down from the stairs, Darren opened the door and their gaze met. He stared at her for a while before he locked the door.
"How are you feeling now?" He questioned with his brows drawn together. He was worried about her throughout the night and he couldn't stop thinking about what kind of nightmare would make the woman cry.
Ambrosia leaned on the staircase and crossed her arms. "You saw me at my worst moment. A word should never get out between us."
He smirked, "Who am I going to tell? That weird man that happens to be your brother?" She rolled her eyes and made to leave but he stopped her. "You haven't answered yet. How are you feeling?"
She halted and looked at him over her shoulders, "Do I need to answer that? I am always fine no matter what state I am in."
"When has this been going on? What is the dream all about?"
She turned around and faced him with a frown on her face, "Mind your business human."
He let out a long sigh and put his hands in his pocket, "Not that I care anyway. I was just curious cause it made you, the strongest and most powerful of all, cry." His voice was filled with sarcasm.
Instead of getting annoyed with him, she rolled her eyes and sat on the last stair step.
Darren looked around before he took his eyes back to her. He had a question which he already knew the answer to but he just wanted to hear her reply so he went ahead to ask.
"Aren't you bored staying all alone here? Aren't you tired of living the same life on repeat? Just waking up, walking round the forest, standing by the window, having no one to talk to?"
She stared at him for a minute before she replied, "Isn't the outside world worst? It is better to be alone than having anything to do with those greedy humans."
He rose his brows, "What about the vampires? Aren't they your people? Shouldn't you associate yourself with them and infact, make this forest a new world for the vampires."
She smirked and crossed her arms, "None of the vampires are birthed vampires or have a vampiric history. They were all once humans. Humans who were tired of this world and wanted death."
He nodded his head with a smile, "I see. What they say about vampires are true. They are dead people alive."
A voice sounded so loud in her ears before she could reply him. Immediately, she knew who that voice belonged to.
"I will be back soon," she said and vanished, reappearing by the road side where a familiar woman was waiting for her.
"You shouldn't just come up here like you own this place." She snapped at Amby who wasn't bothered about anything but to talk to her.
"I wasn't able to get to you. I just had to leave urgently and right now, I need to leave soon. I have someone following me and he might find out about me anytime."
Ambrosia smirked, "What are you doing? You know you shouldn't associate yourself with anyone cause it would be hard to leave if you do."
"You don't have to remind me about that. I have been on this earth for centuries and haven't fallen in love with anyone."
"I never asked for details," Ambrosia sarcastically countered and inquired, "What are you here for? It seems urgent."
"Well, I fell down from a long distance recently and I have been hospitalize. You were hurt weren't you? What happened?" She demanded to know.
Ambrosia frowned, still gawking at her. "You are not here to interrogate me, are you?"
"You always tell me not to put myself in danger cause it would end up been putting you in danger. Now, you put yourself in danger and I suffer for it and all you will ask when I ask about it is if I am here to interrogate you?" She was getting pissed off.
She expected that from Ambrosia and that got her pissed off. Getting away from Ramin wasn't easy. She made sure she arrived at the forest all cause she wanted to know how Ambrosia was doing and the woman was been selfish.
"You are such a selfish bitch!" Amby sneered.
Ambrosia smirked and in a flash, she was standing before Amby with her fingers wrapped around her neck tightly. Amby struggled to pull her hand away but she couldn't so she gave up.
"You aren't allowed to speak to me that way." Ambrosia snapped but Amby wasn't having it.
"Maybe if you stop been a bitch. You should try to kill me if you want. You know what will happen, don't you." Amby answered fearlessly, not taking her gaze from hers.
Knowing what would happen if she eventually kill her, Ambrosia dropped her hand, letting her go.
"Do not come back here anymore." She spat and went back to the forest.
Amby straightened up and rolled her fist into a ball. Not what she expected. She had just wanted to talk and ask about what happened but she ended up provoking her.
"Stupid me." She muttered with her eyes fixed in the dark forest.
Ambrosia reappeared in her room and pushed down the old vase, breaking it into pieces. She wasn't satisfied so she punched hard on the wall, giving her knuckle a tear.
Selfish?
Yes she truly was selfish but she hated to hear that word.
The door was suddenly flung opened and Darren walked in. "What is happening?" He questioned immediately he saw her fist connected to the wall.
"Get out!" She thundered.
"Take a chill pill your highness. You don't need to yell at me for asking why you are worked up."
"Can you all just stop asking how I am doing? I don't need anyone's concern!" She yelled out panting heavily.
Darren said nothing but only stare at her. The more he stays with her, the more he gets to know her and from what he had observed, Ambrosia wasn't just a heartless woman, but she had her heart covered in pain too. Pain that she hated the world to see and so she takes it out on them.
"Get out!" She half yelled, resting her head on the wall and her eyes shut.
"I want to leave but I can't."
She was forced to look at him when he said those words.
He went on, "I don't know why I can't, why my legs are failing me. You shouldn't shut people out of your life like they mean nothing always. And so you know, I am not concerned about you but about the walls of this building getting destroyed by you cause that would mean me having to become homeless."
She shot her eyes opened and threw a glare at him. "You humans are stubborn."
"Well you know, you can't keep locking up yourself. Opening up to someone would help a lot. Keeping it all in would only bring pain and grieve to you."
"You've got people you tell things to?"
Darren opened his mouth to reply but kept shut and rubbed the back of his neck. He was always so cold and aloof that he never had a friend or anyone to share his problem with.
Infact, he left home at a very tender age of thirteen to live with his grandparent before they passed on. He always kept things to himself and that made his heart grieve.
Ambrosia stared at him for long expecting an answer, but he never gave any. Knowing what his silent meant, she smirked and crossed her arms.
"Apparently, your advice are just mere words. We are alike, aren't we? You hate mingling with anyone like I do right? People are all evil and untrustworthy. Be it vampires or humans, they all have the trait of greed and selfishness running through their veins. Keeping your sorrows is better than telling any one who would mock at you."
"I've got a reason why I keep things to myself and so you know, we are not alike." He paused for some seconds and went on, "Edwin seems like a good guy and he want to get closer to you but you keep pushing him away. You got him to talk to."
She laughed a bit and in a flash, she was standing before him, leaving just a little distance between them.
"I feel like taking a bath in the stream. Come with me." She shamelessly said and watched as his eyes widened in shock.
