Vanessa sighed she should have known that her brother was going to react in this way, he was overbearing and his personality was too similar to hers that it often clashed with hers. She pinched the bridge of her nose and looked at Derren who was staring at her with an expression that was full of disappointment and disapproval, damn it. He knew what she felt when he looked at her like this and was deliberately looking at her with such a gaze, she licked her teeth and spread her hands helplessly before putting her case in front of him.
" Look that guy had a girl behind his back and he was even thinking of divorcing me once he was done taking advantage of all the benefits you have promised him, are you sure you want to marry me to a guy like that?" asked Vanessa with an exasperated expression, as she shook her head and laughed. " Even if I am being a burden on your head there is no need for you to look for a guy like him, alright? I have no intention of dying a virgin, you don't have to worry —— I will look for a guy sooner or later."
Derren pursed his lips as he turned to look at Nolan who raised his hands in his defence. " There was no such thing as him having any affair or much less dating in the information that my spy gave me, most probably Anderson hid that girl real nice from even his family and friends and that was why we couldn't get any information about her…as for divorcing young miss that's something that popped up in his head, what I can do about it?"
Not at all happy by what Nolan just said to him, Derren scowled at him before turning to look at Vanessa, not wanting her to misunderstand his intentions. "it's true that I am in a hurry to get you married but it's not because I think of you as a burden. It's because I don't want you to have an ending like our mother."
The amusement died right off Vanessa's face at the mention of her mother, she simply snarled at Derren and spat. " I am not our mother, Derren… I know what I want and just because I look like her doesn't mean that I am a breakable doll that would break at the smallest betrayal of my husband——"
" I know, you will emasculate the bastard before I could get my hands on him," said Derren looking slightly mollified. " But you still have to understand why I want you out of this world Nessie, you know that there are no good men in the familia. Our father had fifteen mistresses behind our mother's back and so does everyone else… I just don't want a repetition of the history, Vanessa."
" I got it, I will think about it, is that enough?" said Vanessa, she was in no mood to discuss her shitty father or much less the mistresses he had behind her mother's back but can it still be called having a mistress behind his wife's back when her mother knew about everything from the very beginning?
She didn't think much about it and simply jogged out of the house, worried that Derren would once again start his lecture on why she shouldn't marry a man from the ' Familia'.
Watching Vanessa go, Derren sighed as he looked at Nolan who was already staring at him with an obedient look as if waiting for him to order to look for another match for Vanessa. His lips twitched, was he acting this desperate that even his assistant was acting like this? He shook his head and sat back on his recliner while resting his cheek against his knuckles, " I wonder what kind of man will marry my sister?"
" A complete maniac or a sadist," answered Nolan like the capable assistant he was.
Derren slowly turned to look at his assistant, with his brows twitching. " You …. Don't you think you are being a bit too honest? What if I shoot you right now for that punch, you punk?"
Nolan shrugged his shoulder as he took out his contract and pointed to the clause 57. "It's written here, that I should always speak the truth when facing you."
Derren: "…." Alright, you punk so you are choosing death is that it?
" You little bitch!" as he scrambled to get to his gun that was lying on the tea table, Nolan ran away in a hurry. " Oi! You brat! Why are you running away now? Why are you running away? Weren't you courageous as heck right now? Come back here!"
Though Derren was shouting, Nolan didn't look back even once and immediately rushed out of the mansion. Once he was gone, Derren sat back down and pondered over what Nolan just said and after a while couldn't help but agree as he scratched his chin with the muzzle of the gun. "He might have worded it wrong but he was indeed speaking the truth… no sane guy is going to fall for my sister."
" See, even you agree with me!" came Nolan's reply from somewhere afar.
Derren blinked and only then did he remember that his assistant's hearing was incredibly inhuman and sensitive.
" You f*cking bitch! Just wait for me!" shouted Derren as he dashed after his assistant to shoot him down.

" Are you sure, you don't like her?" asked a woman in her fifties as she chased after a young man who was carrying a suitcase and seemed to be in a rush.
Nick sighed as he turned around to look at his mum, who was bumbling behind his wake and sternly pushed his glasses up. " I can assure you that I have no interest in that woman, you have introduced me to—— she was in my class when we were in Elementary school and I watched her shoplift an eraser, you want me to marry a woman like her?"
" It was in elementary school!" said his mother
" And that too an eraser!" echoed his father from behind looking incredulous. " Are you going to declare her as a criminal just because she shoplifted a teeny tiny eraser? Are you serious Nick?"
Nick nodded his head without even thinking about what his parents were yammering about, he headed down the hallway with both of his parents chasing after him with exasperated expressions on their faces. Once they reached the front door, His mother once again spoke in a wheedling voice, " Nick, dear—— think about it… you are already in your thirty and you have rejected——"
" Twice the number of women of your age." finished his father with a sullen look, but turned silent when his mother gave him one of her 'stern' looks.
Then she turned to face him and her face was once again full of a smile but Nick could see the twitch going on in her left eye—— which meant she was really angry.
" Nick, honey… you need to think properly… you might be good looking but"
" We don't have a car, company and even this house's EMI is yet to be paid," said his father once again as he spouted out just what kind of middle-class life they were living. " You work a nine to five job and your salary is barely enough to pay for all the bills that we have on our shoulders, you tell me what kind of princess are you waiting for?"
" Oh, hush!" his mother smacked his father right on the mouth. " I am talking to him can't you see?" Another smile and then " I know that you have a great sense of justice because of your father and grandfather's impact on you but you see, it's impossible for us to find a girl who is completely clean and never did any crime. Look even your dad is willing to accept any girl in his house"
His dad nodded his head fervently. " I don't care, bring a Don, Mafia or whatever you want just give me a grandchild!"
Mr Newman was really pitiful, all his peers were having a good time playing with their grandsons and here he was begging his stupid son to get married.
Mrs Newman nodded from the sidelines but Nick didn't falter, he pushed his spectacles up and simply buttoned his suit's jacket as he said, " I can't do that… A crime is a crime, no matter how big and small… I can't ignore it."
" So what do you want us to do ?" asked Mr Newman in exasperation.
Nick thought for a while before shrugging. " Keep looking for the right girl." And then he pulled open the door to his house and left.
Behind him, his father let out a bellow. " NICOLAS NEWMAN!" When he didn't receive an answer he turned to look at his wife and said, " What now?"
Mrs Newman sighed and bitterly spat. " What else your dream to become a grandfather shattered once again."
And Mr Newman chased after his son once again—- " SON! SON! LISTEN TO ME THIS GIRL—— SHE IS AN EXCELLENT COOK AND----"
Mrs Newman watched her husband run around carrying the matchmaking photographs and shook her head. Poor old man, he didn't even have to run after the criminals to catch them as much as he was running behind his son to get him married.
