The hit woke Anemone up to a scene close to a nightmare. The road in front of them was cut with a pool of molten rocks spreading flames into everything close. Gladly, none of the guards were hit nor got stumped over by the horses, but the attack didn't end there.
The four soldiers stepped in, proving their worth by covering the girl from the projectiles. The raining from the sky slowly covering the area, and it wasn't too long before all of them started suffering serious burns from the magma splashing around.
Behind them the gray male was approaching at a speed that wasn't fast, but the voice of death grew louder and louder, throwing them deeper into the pits of despair.
The escape road was blocked, and an incarnation of death marched toward them. They made their resolve long ago, and only wished for their loved ones to be safe; all that was left is for the pain to pass.
Thunder roared in the sky as if to announce their end, but behind it they heard something else.
"GO. TO. HELL!"
Before reaching the shield wall the monster stopped. The shouting didn't come from one of the determined men but from a really small black dot falling from above.
Blinding light emerged from it as a bolt of lightning came down hitting the gray rorock at the side. The energy and the shockwave were strong enough to flip the mountain and the despairing people could only watch as the monster they feared helplessly struggled on its back.
Unable to move any further the monster retreated inside its shell entering a defensive state. The smoke left by the raging thunder started to clear little by little revealing a dark shadowy figure standing at the center of a crater with something massive in its hand.
Rather than becoming visible as the smoke and dust cleared the shadow became darker and darker.
The one standing amidst the destruction left by the golden light was a man wearing a set of armor shrouded in the darkness of a starless night wielding a great war hammer only giants could wield.
Some of the men along with Anne and all the Lionheart knights immediately recognized who he was thanks to an unmistakable trait no one besides him could have.
The man wore a mask, but no one could ever mistake that pointy hair of his.
"Sieg!" Anne called, tears forming at the corners of her eyes.
Siegfried, the sole eternal who stayed behind; the guard dog protecting the Lionheart house has come.
"Owaaahh…I think we are a little late?"
Once again, the sky was filled with the sound of flapping wings, but unlike before the despair was washed away almost immediately as the source came into view.
"PREPARE YOUR WEAPONS!"
Small crimson dragons ridden by a group of men covered in pure white descended toward the unshakable mountain.
"FIRE!"
On that command the white knights rained spears on the collapsed rorock, a series of explosions followed each one resulting in a storm of wind that threatened to break the formation making the shield wall.
"Those aren't anything like the one from before!" exclaimed one of the men.
Every spear created an explosion several times bigger than the ones used by the Windyfields soldiers; the sound alone indicated the quality difference.
Anne started to understand what's going on. A closer look told her that the beasts the white knights were riding, are in fact red tail wyverns, and no one in the kingdom was oblivious when it came to the only place those riders could come from.
The royal army's wyvern knights.
