.
"Uwaahh… can we really take down that thing?" the knight at the front said as he looked down at the moving inferno beneath them. "We seem to have angered it a little too much…"
"No, this is good. The females are much weaker than they look. The heat causes their shell to crack so it makes it a lot easier for us. The question is whether I could flip it over like the first one or not…."
"Well, it certainly looks a lot heavier."
"Tell the others to prepare. If I can't flip it over by the third strike, hit it with everything you got; target it's joints until it can no longer advance."
Deciding the best spot for him to land Siegfried jumped from the wyvern's back. The weight of the giant hammer accelerated his fall.
One swing and a lightning bolt was shot at the ground pushing him up a little before he was about to turn into a splash of blood.
The female monster noticed the dark knight up ahead and roared in rage once more. Sieg took in a deep breath and stretched himself like he had no care in the world.
"Maaaaan, I really hate doing this."
His right hand reached for the handle as he suppressed the urge to yawn. Slow, that thing is slow. But the quake it causes every time it steps only made it annoying all the more. If it weren't for the giant hammer's weight, he wouldn't be able to keep his balance standing this close.
When the walking disaster arrived a few steps away from him he began to walk at a relaxed pace dragging his weapon behind him.
Stopping, the monster lifted one leg preparing to stump the tiny foolish man. Sieg's hands swung the hammer in response and a blinding light swallowed them upon the clash.
"ROAAAAAR!" Thunder exploded from the hammer repelling what weighed tons and tons of volcanic rock, but when Sieg thought he got the upper hand the female rorock slapped the ground with its tail regaining balance and went for a second round.
Sieg rolled aside evading successfully, although his heavy weapon hindered him quite a bit and because of that, the ring of flames that spread following the stump dealt some damage to his not so fire-resistant armor.
"Shit, I chose this one to match the recoil from the Golden Wrath, but it's backfiring now…"
Not giving him the time to think, the calamity started spitting molten rocks his way. Good thing Rorocks are as slow as they look.
The way he moved to avoid his seventh death in a year, dragging that thing behind him, won't do him any good facing a faster enemy. Sieg wished that at least two other eternals were present to distract the monster so he could deal a good blow.
He circled around to its side and the monster tried to follow, but before it could he leaped toward its flank and delivered the second blow.
"ROAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!" The golden light enveloped the burning rocks digging into the hard shell and tearing thin chunks from it.
"Damn it…"
This time was less effective than the last as the monster didn't move that much before its feet safely returned to the ground.
It's actually reasonable; he was basically trying to flip over a small mountain emitting a heat wave that burned everything green under it, while he is just a human-sized ant. He needed a lot more force if he wants to get it done.
As an idea appeared in his mind. He left the Rorock's field of vision and hid exactly underneath it. This would trigger the gas attack Rorocks are infamous for, but he feared little as he came prepared for this hunt.
His dark-as-the-night armor has the highest resistance to paralysis, sleep, and confusion. Toxins and corrosives were a drawback, but he could do nothing about it.
The purple smoke spread and Sieg held his breath charging the third strike.
"Wha-" it seems the monster didn't plan on waiting for him to suffocate his life out and decided it's better to crush him with everything it got.
Rushing his third attack as a way to leave before he's flattened, he noticed a bit too late as the unexpected happened. A flash of light followed by a massive explosion sound that overshadowed the crackling from the hammer.
The lightning from Sieg's hammer and the purple smoke triggered a detonation that sent him flying a long distance away.
The force surely was enough to do the job, but when he opened his eyes, an unhappy surprise showed in front of him.
One of the wyvern knights –same one from before– picked him up before he got showered with molten rock.
Rather than flipping over, the monster spread its wings and flew into the air avoiding the deadly fall only losing its tail in the explosion.
As he ordered before, the rest of the knights went in and started shooting their spears at it but…
The upper shell of a rorock proved to resist damage a lot more than the lower one, even when it's a female. His armor is tattered and doesn't have the same electric resistance anymore.
Repairing it would cost about the same as a new set, which meant now he has to hunt another thunder storm or two to get the materials. Buying them from the Phoenix Alliance is an option, but that would be a pain in more ways than one.
With his lightning resistant equipment gone, using the hammer isn't exactly the safest thing to do, but that monster won't go down any other way.
"… I really hate doing this" he scratched his head making a mess out of his reality-defying hair.
"Just so you know, none of us likes it. We chose this job cause it's the one with the least amount of work," the man in front said, laughing weakly. "Well, unfortunately, that was before the other eternals decided to flee."
"Can you blame them? It's not fun if you don't do it for fun!" Sieg grabbed the guy's arm "I'm borrowing your ride."
"Wait… WHAAaaaa?" he threw him off the wyvern and took the reins. Thankfully, there were a few other riders nearby who caught him as he fell.
"Move it!" a light kick to the side and a threatening voice pushed the wyvern into obedience, upping its speed flying straight at the female Rorock's head. Sieg swung his hammer delivering a clean but light hit.
"ROAAAAAAARRRRRRR!"
"That's right, come and get me."
He fastened his grip on the golden wrath, flying the wyvern away toward the mountain range. The sparks and light emitted from the hammer gradually brightened the surroundings.
He got the monster's complete attention away from the rest of the wyvern riders then signaled for them to retreat.
The heated handle burned the flesh from his hand up to his arm and until his shoulder, but alas the charging is complete, and he is ready to make his final move.
"If it survives this one…." He coughed struggled for air and so did his mount. "Don't worry, it won't take long. HYAAA!"
He pulled the rein and kicked its side making the wyvern fly up in a straight line. Of course, with a shiny target such as him, the female rorock found no problem in following the same track diving into the clouds and further above, but the moment it exited the white sea, Sieg jumped from the wyvern's back falling toward the monster.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" he yelled– all the pain the fully charged hammer inflected on him as he prepared to swing.
The monster opened its mouth to devour him like last time. Its jaws closed, and everything was silent for a few seconds.
The zapping sound returned, and the monster's wings ceased to move. The gravity did what it does best, and amidst the sea of clouds the lightning exploded, followed by a raging sound that shook everything, erasing the clouds as fire rained down on the plains.
Those witnessing the scene couldn't believe it as the dragon's fried corpse, or what was left of it, fell from above. But one thing said, that thing is now among the dead.
