Chapter 13 - A GOOD TIME WITH LAUNA

The lady looked at Kahil and sighed. "Not really a good time though. No matter the amount of food you have around, having no one beside you amounts it to nothing."

"But you've got your wolf, at least," Itsuki said.

"A human she means, what's up with you?" Trevor said to him.

"Just wanted to say something." Itsuki shrugged.

"Always wanting to say something," Six said.

"A nice one from him though." The lady sat up. "Glowie has been a faithful one to me. I now see her as human." She got up and walked to the wall where the picture of the large moon was hung. "For the love of my homeland, I'd give a help."

"Now that's what we came for!" Fern said.

"But one thing you should know is this -- you can't get to the hiona wolf without bypassing the trouble of it's descendants," she said.

"Oh yeah, I expect that. Uhm, I'm Trevor, and we don't know your name," Trevor said.

She gave him a warm smile and said. "I'm Launa."

"A nice one, and easy to pronounce," Kahil said.

"Yes, like Launa, Launa, there are some wolves coming behind you!" Six said and laughed. "Forget it, I was just joking."

"It's alright," Launa said. "Not happy to tell you that I haven't visited one of the food stores lately. I have nothing to offer you guys for now."

"Well, you can go get some," Itsuki said.

"You sound like you're entitled to it, Itsuki," Marie said.

"My bad, my bad," Itsuki said.

"Trevor," Launa called in a way that made his bones jerk. Trevor gave her a how-did-you-know-my-name look. Then immediately he remembered telling her.

"I chose you because you're the only one who has officially told me your name," she said.

"Oh, really?" Trevor said, smiling.

"Now you'd join me to one of the stores so we could get something there," Launa said.

"Oh, sure!" Trevor got up and gestured the way, while the others marveled at the instant connection she had with Trevor.

Trevor and Launa came back some hours later chatting and chuckling with some loads of foodstuffs with them. It made the others see Launa as more human than they had previously viewed her -- a ruthless heroine with sturdy legs who goes around beating up men. But the smile on her face when she got in changed the perspective.

"I can see you both getting pretty comfortable with each other," Six said.

"I could imagine what happened between them in one of the stores," Itsuki said with a lopsided smile.

"I see what you meant there, but shut up, she's just fun to be with. You should try going out with her one of these days," Trevor said.

"I'm sure looking forward to that," Itsuki said.

"My concern now is what those bags contain," Kahil said.

"Things you'd sure like," Launa said and dropped the bags on the table, with sounds of cans clanking against each other.

Kahil leaned forward and separated the handles of one of the bags to see mouth-watering items -- cans of drinks, bottles of milk, chocolates, snacks, and other things in their varying colors.

"Now I know you're happy," Trevor said.

"So what are you guys waiting for? Have a fun time," Launa said and went to sit next to her wolf.

When they were done eating, they engaged in some more chit-chats with her, they got to know her warm and childlike side, and she also got to know all their names.

The next day they woke up to Launa having the tube of the serum pressed to her nose, her eyes closed. They all slept on the couches, and it was cozy.

"You don't sleep?" Six, who was the first to get up, asked.

"I do, but I didn't sleep last night. There's something about this scent that seems so interesting," she said, looking up at the tube.

"Of course it should be," Trevor said.

Her face brightened immediately when she heard Trevor speak.

"Good morning Trevor," she said to him.

"Good morning to you Launa. Wouldn't ask how your night went though cause you probably didn't sleep," Trevor said.

"Want to know how I spent the night?" Launa said.

"Well, of course," Marie said.

"I spent my night outside," Launa said.

They all exchanged glances.

"What were you doing outside?" Fern asked.

"My sense of smell doubles under the influence of a full moon. I took the tube out and sat with Glowie at the corridor, and I got a stronger signal," Launa said.

They all say up.

"You mean you know where the hiona wolf is as we speak?" Marie said.

"Not exactly where it is, but I know paths to get to it," she said.

"And what path is that?" Expresso said.

"When do we leave today?" Launa asked.

"Right away!" Expresso said.

"Hold on, hold on. We need something to eat first," Kahil said in his growly early-morning voice.

"What's up with you and food all the time, Kahil?" Trevor said.

"Of course he's right. You need to eat something before embarking on this because I sense it would take a toll on your systems," Launa said.

"Now you see I'm right," Kahil said.

"I'd be outside with Glowie. Whenever you're ready I'd know," Launa said and went out with Glowie.

Kahil quickly leaned to get the remnants of the food below the table.

They were done eating within an hour, and they quickly reached for their equipments which they placed close to their respective seats.

Kahil took up his gun and rubbed his palm along it's sheen. Six took his up and aimed it at Itsuki who sat opposite him.

"Take that off my face!" Itsuki said.

"A lot of adrenaline," Six snorted and put the gun down.

Expresso took up his cloud spray and shook it. "I need a refill on this."

"Sadly there's none," Fern said, fixing the serum tube inside his gun.

Kahil got up. "I think we are set to go now."

The rest got up too, and at that instant, Launa and her wolf got in, leaving them to wonder how she knew they were ready, but they weren't set for questions though. They just wanted to get their problems over with.
