Chapter 69 - Void energy?

Kenta left the partially destroyed city in turmoil and rode through the clear skies on the back of the three headed flying beast.

The sky was lit with a slightly orange glow as the sun could be seen risen from the distance, warming the chilly atmosphere from the cold night air. Rays of the sun shone down from the sky, causing Kenta to squint his eyes and Yawn slightly.

"Did you have a good sleep?" A gentle voice sounded from his right, when he turned his head to the sound of the voice, he saw a man with slightly long golden hair blowing in the wind. "... Mm." Kenta nodded his head lazily as he gazed at the scenery below him.

The view of mountains, a river stream that extended as far as the eyes could see along with freshly cut crops field entered his field of vision.

They had been flying for roughly four hours now. He couldn't help but get curious. Just where is it that their going? They had already left the boundary of the kingdom of Barat, "... How far are we going?" Kenta questioned.

"Don't worry, we are almost there. Just a few more hours." Jessica replied, her long brown hair fluttered in the wind as she observed the surroundings with a serene expression on her face.

She was cautious of any wild flying beast attacking them once they were out of the safe areas protected by the kingdom. However, even though she was alert she wasn't worried.

Jessica was subconsciously releasing her own aura in order to scare the beast and keeping them from coming too close. As a summoner her aura is more effective against beast.

As they continue to travel through the sky, Kenta just observed the many different sceneries around him with his eyes filled with curiosity.

This was the first time he had left the kingdom of Barat. Of course, he was hoping to travel to different kingdoms in the future but, he didn't think it would happen this soon.

Seeing Kenta looking around like a child who was seeing the outside world for the first time Leroux couldn't help but smile in amusement. "I'm guessing this is your first time outside the kingdom of Barat?" He questioned.

"Yes," Kenta replied. "I see... usually leaving the kingdom of one's birthplace is difficult; you have to go through a lot of annoying paperwork. Not to mention you need the permission from the lord of whatever city you leave from, as well of the kingdom you wish to travel." Leroux explained.

"Oh, why do you need their permission?" Kenta asked, turning to face Leroux who was leaning back while staring up at the clear blue sky.

"It's a necessary procedure. In order to see who coming in and out, some people get attack by either monsters or beast and end up dying before they even reach the other kingdoms. That's why leaving is so difficult." Leroux explained.

Hearing this Kenta finally understood why it's so difficult to leave, 'They probably wanted to decrease the chances of death while they are outside.' He thought. "Yeah, that's why only those with exceptional combat abilities, or high status can come and go freely." He further added.

"I guess that's not the case for lady Jessica or yourself, you two make leaving seem so easy." Kenta said, while observing Leroux facial expression, "Ahaha... well Jess is a special case. She goes anywhere she wants it's not like anyone is dumb enough to provoke that monster over there." Leroux replied, with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Jessica who heard this had her brow twitching, "I wonder who you're calling a monster? Do you perhaps want me to push you off?" She asked, revealing a smile that wasn't a smile. "Cough, a-anyway. With the monster attacks getting more and more frequent those kingdoms became more alert and leaving became more difficult." Leroux said, promptly changing the subject.

"I see... so only those with real power or those with status can travel freely?" Kenta asked. "More or less." Leroux said, as he closed his eyes and felt the wind caresses his skin.

"But why those with status? Wouldn't it cause more problems if those with status die more than the commoners?" Kenta questioned, his voice taking on a bitter tone.

Leroux slightly opened his eyes and observed Kenta's expression curiously. 'Hm, does he have some kind of problem with those from a high position, perhaps?' Leroux wondered. Jessica also looked over her shoulder and observed his expression carefully.

"As for those with high positions, they are given special guards to act as an escort by the king himself." Leroux replied.

"... I see." Kenta stayed silent after that, seemingly lost in thought. He didn't ask any more questions as he lost interest after that. Instead, he simply observed the flying beast in the distance as they flew through the sky.

How much time passed after that, Kenta didn't know. However, at some point he had closed his eyes and started meditating as his body relaxed. "Since it seems we won't arrive for a while. How about you explain more about the 'Temple of power' There are still many things I don't know about it." Kenta suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Jessica seated before him.

Jessica also opened her eyes when she felt his gazed being directed at her. "... What do you want to know?" She asked, without looking back. "Aside from worshipping the war goddess, what kind of place is it?" Kenta asked, curiously.

Jessica didn't answer his question right away, instead she became quiet for some time as though organizing her thoughts. "... Kenta do you perhaps know about the gods?" She asked. Hearing her question Kenta nodded his head faintly.

"I do... but I don't have much knowledge about them." He answered, honestly. "... I see. Well then allow me to tell you about them and about this world we live in." Jessica said.

"Long ago, specifically speaking millions of years ago this world never actually existed." She said calmly. "Huh?" Kenta looked at her strangely when hearing her explanation, but he didn't interrupt her. "It was said that only one world existed, and that world was the home of multiple gods who each controlled a universal law.

They each had enough powers to bend reality to their will... some had enough power to create objects from thin air, while others had enough power to destroy and erase anything from existence. They were the strongest in the universe." Jessica explained.

"Eh? I-is that true?" Kenta was taken aback. He knew the gods were strong but, he didn't think they would be that strong. 'No wonder Hendrix lost against them despite having so much power.' He secretly thought. "It was also said that our magics originated from these gods." Jessica continued. "Over the countless Millennium many more gods were born from different concept. They each lived their own lives while existing in the same world." Jessica said, "... But that is exactly what caused most of their downfall." She stated.

"Hmm...?" Hearing this Kenta frowned, he didn't know why but, he suddenly had a bad feeling. "Despite living together in harmony, not all gods were okay with this idea... it was said that there was a god who had the ability to control void energy, a special type of energy to manipulate destructive energy declared war on the gods and goddesses.

He wanted to be the sole ruler of that world; many other gods also decided to side with him. Thus, creating two different sides, one who wishes for war while the other wishes for peace." She explained.

'A god who controlled void energy, I've never heard of that type of energy before. Is it similar to magical energy which can be found all around the world?' Kenta wondered. Leroux who had his eyes closed opened his eyes and explained. "It was said many gods and goddess's parish in that battle. It was a battle that was known as the "Battle of gods" Their battle destroyed several planets and disturbed the natural "Order" Of the universe. It was when the goddess of time, the goddess of light and the god of creation and the war goddess herself decided to stop the battle of gods." Leroux said, lazily.

'Hm? Goddess of time' Hearing that name, for some reason Kenta could feel soul eater stirring restlessly inside his subspace.

"The goddesses and gods decided to team up, they were able to stop the god who controlled void energy by using a sword known as the "God slaying sword" Ending his life and bring an end to the uprising." Jessica said, then her eyes became more serious. "In order to make sure no such things happened again, two of the gods who were said to be the strongest created another world." Jessica said.

"... I see. So, they created this world?" Kenta asked, Jessica nodded her head. "Indeed... many of the gods and goddesses came to this place and created different temple of themselves for humans to worship. During those times when the gods walk among us humans many had received their blessings like we did. But, now in this era humans had forgotten about them." She said, in a bitter tone.

"... Can I ask how you know all of this?" Kenta, looked at her back dubiously, how could she know so much about the gods? He didn't believe she had been alive since those times. ".... Thats because the goddess of war left behind old books, she had written down since those times.

Though, not everyone believed it was written by her." Jessica explained. "There are some who believed it was written by humans who was affiliated with the temple of power long ago." Jessica continued.

'Mhm, this is deeper than I thought, wasn't Hendrix said to be the strongest god? If he was sent here, then does that mean the ones from the world of gods are stronger?' Kenta frowned. "Oh, we have arrived... hold on tight." Jessica said, as the three headed flying beast descended downwards.

When Kenta looked down, he saw a huge waterfall with a width of fifty meters. The three headed flying beast flew through the waterfall. Kenta held onto Jessica's slim waist as his body was soak by the cold water. Finally, the beast passed through the waterfall and a huge temple came into view.
