The three headed flying beast slowly descended onto the ground, landing merely ten meters away from Kenta who was slowly approaching the black-haired ninja in the distant.
Once the flying creature was on solid ground Jessica dismount from its back. At the same time Kenta raised his greatsword upwards and was prepared to slash downwards when..
"Wait!" He heard a voice called out to him from behind. Curious he slowly turned his head to slightly looked over his shoulder. A beautiful woman with long brown hair and blue eyes was slowly closing the distance between them. "Do I know you?" He inquired, curiously.
"No, this is our first meeting, please allow me to introduce myself... I am Jessica, I have no last name, so please call me Jessica." She said curtly. Hearing her words Kenta frowned. "Okay, Jessica do you want something?" He asked. "No, I don't, at least the current you can't give me what I want." She replied, somewhat sarcastically. Hearing this Kenta raised an eyebrow. "Oh, the current me. Are you saying that I could grant your desire if I was stronger?" He asked, seemingly amused.
"Perhaps you could. However, we'll talk about that some other time, anyway we don't have much time until the knights arrive here, as you have caused quite a ruckus. So, I'll keep it brief." She said, clearing her throat.
Soon her blue eyes shone with a peculiar glint as she stared at Kenta's sword that was clad with the aura of death, slowly she opened her mouth. "I have an offer for you." Kenta frowned as he heard this. "An offer? What kind of offer do you speak of?" He questioned, suspiciously.
He had no idea who this woman was, he also knew nothing about this desire of hers, with no knowledge of her identity he couldn't help but be suspicious of her.
"There is no need to be so guarded, I promise I won't bite." Jessica said, playfully. "..." However, Kenta said nothing as he just waited for her to continue speaking.
Understanding the indication of his silence she continued without delay. "Come with me back to the temple of power." She spoke. However, Kenta's indifferent expression changed slightly as he heard her offer. 'She wants me to follow her to the temple of power? Why would she want that? Wait what exactly is the temple of power?' Kenta looked at her strangely as he pondered to himself.
"What do you say, will you accept?" She asked, ignoring Kenta's confused face. "Wait before I give my answer, can you tell me what the temple of power is?" Kenta inquired, curiously. As though expecting such a questioned she answered easily.
"The temple of power is a place where those who worship the war goddess train." Kenta's expression changed abruptly when he heard the mention of a goddess, he had originally thought that the people of the current era had forgotten about the gods and goddesses.
"You worship the war goddess?"
"Yes, this is a secret but... those with special position actually received the blessings of the goddess. Which increases our combat power." She further explained.
Soon she raised her sleeve revealing a tattoo like markings on her right shoulder. "This mark is proved of her blessing." Jessica said, her voice filled with pride.
"If you agree to come along with me and join us, you'll also received her blessings as well effectively making you hundreds of times stronger than your current self." Jessica said, with expectations in her voice. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to gain strength.
Anyone would jump at such an offer but, Kenta frowned. Even though her offer was a little tempting a part of him felt disgust at the thought of receiving a god or a goddess's blessings, he didn't know why but that's how he felt from the bottom of his heart.
"Soul eater" Shook in his hand as though rejecting such an offer.
"I don't get it, why me? What's got you so interested in me to make such an offer?" Kenta inquired, genuinely curious. However, the corner of Jessica's lips lifted slightly as she exhibits a small smile she rarely showed on her usual indifferent face.
"At first I was only interested in your unusual strength but, most of all... It's because of your eyes." Jessica explained as though it was natural. Jessica's blue eyes met Kenta's blue eyes. She stared deep into those eyes as though being sucked in.
Those eyes weren't the eyes of someone naive, it was the eyes of someone who had seen the world for what it truly was, she could feel many different things coming from those sharp eyes, self-confidence, arrogance, cautiousness and distrust... but most of all, she could feel a strong sense of determination!
Those were the eyes of someone who wasn't afraid of walking through the flames of hell in order to achieve his goal, 'Hehe... in a way the two of us is a lot alike.' She thought.
"Just like you I also have a goal I want to achieve... and I will achieve that goal even if I have to burn the entire world in order to accomplish it." Jessica said, her voice filled with determination. A determination that wasn't as inferior to Kenta's.
Kenta stared into her eyes in order to see any traces of falsehood within them but, her eyes were firm as she allowed him to stare back at her. However, before he could speak Jessica opened her mouth first. "... Besides. You have already offended a big shot of this city; you also caused a wide range destruction. Many people had seen your face while you were fighting that woman over there, I'm sure you now have many enemies here in this city. Won't it be good if you have somewhere to stay while things here calm down?" She asked, as she stared into Kenta's eyes.
After a long moment of silence Kenta finally sighed, as he lowered his sword. He then slowly turned his head up to the sky, gazing at the cloudy sky that was obstructing the view of the night sky, purple lightning still continued to fall down from the sky even now, as the crackling of thunder could be heard in the distance.
"If I go along with you, will I really become stronger?" Kenta questioned, as he lowered his head to stare at her face. "Yes, I can assure you that you will be stronger much faster with our support." She answered, easily.
Hearing her response Kenta slowly nodded his head as he said. "... I still don't fully understand your intentions, and I don't know what it is you want me to do for you... then again I really don't care either way as long as my wish can be accomplish." He said, indifferently.
"Very well. It's a pleasure working with you." Jessica said, as her sweet little lips curves upwards in delight.
'Your time is almost near old man.' Jessica smiled sinisterly in her heart as she gazed at the young boy before her.
However, soon Kenta turned his attention to the black-haired ninja who had lost consciousness from the impact of hitting against the walls behind her.
"Hm. You're still going to kill her?" Jessica asked. "... Yes, she tried to kill me. My beliefs is that if anyone targets my life they deserve to die. So, since she wanted to kill me, she should also be prepared to die as well." Kenta replied, as the aura of death covered his body. Jessica was forced to take light step backwards as she felt her body getting weaker. 'This aura... is it an ability of that sword?' She wondered, as she observed the soul eater greatsword.
Everywhere he walked the grass beneath his feet died instantly, even the stones disintegrated and turned to nothing as his aura made contact with them. Slowly the aura of death covered the black-haired ninja lying on the ground.
"Argh!" She writhed in pain as her body decayed and turned to dust in an instant.
Kenta smiled as he felt his soul getting stronger. Even Jessica couldn't help but pity the black-haired ninja as she watched her body disintegrated. 'Such a terrifying ability.' Her body shuttered slightly as she watches the scene before her.
'Master be careful, your soul is now one stage above your physical body, if you don't hurry up and learn the demon strengthening physique soon... I'm afraid your body might not be able to hold out.' Agni's worried voice sounded inside his head. Hearing this Kenta frowned as he clenched his hand into a fist. 'I have to get even stronger; I only have one month before the opening of the academy.' He thought to himself.
Soon, he stared back at her and spoke. "When do we leave?" He questioned; Jessica smiled sweetly as she replied. "Follow me." Soon she turned her back and walked back to the three headed flying beast waiting ten meters away, space twisted as soul eater greatsword disappeared, causing the aura of death to also disappear along with it.
Jessica mounted on the back of the flying beast while waiting for Kenta to get onto its back but, Kenta hesitated, noticing his reluctant Jessica frowned. "What's wrong?" She asked. "... Is it really safe for me to ride that thing?" Kenta asked. He had never been on a flying beast before, he couldn't help but get nervous when gazing into those glowing red eyes. However, hearing his words she sighed as she realized it was nothing too serious after all.
"Yes, its fine, he won't bite." Jessica said offering her hand. After a slight hesitation Kenta reached out his hand and grasp her own. As soon as Kenta got on, the six wings of the three headed flying beast flapped as it ascended into the sky!
...
Meanwhile, the shadow took the form of a man wearing black as he faced Leroux with a rather uneasy expression. "Oh, I had a feeling it would be someone from the temple of shadows," Leroux said, calmly as though it was no big deal. Though he was slightly intrigued as to why someone from that place is here.
They hadn't done much since the last war between the temple of light. 'Hahahaha.... I'm surprised they have the courage to show themselves in the public eyes again. If I remember correctly the patriarch of the temple of shadows died against the matriarch from the temple of light last time.' Leroux thought back to the past.
Even though he hadn't participated in that war he still remembered the stories clearly from back then.
"Tch," The man dressed in black click his tongue as he saw Leroux's mocking smile. However, he swallowed his indignation and asked a question. "Can you tell me what your purpose of coming to this city?" He inquired, curiously.
"Who knows, sight-seeing." Leroux answered, nonchalantly. His disinterest was clear on his face. However, the man dressed in black wasn't discouraged by his answer, if anything he was amused instead. "Oh, sight-seeing? Do you really missed the city where your brother was killed so badly that you came here for sight-seeing?" The man dressed in black asked, as a grin appeared on his face. Meanwhile, the indifferent expression on Leroux's face slowly changed!
