Soon Partica and Steward came and helped me get to my next class. I'm sure the two had their fair share of questions that they wanted to ask but luckily they withheld them. When the two entered the door of my next class, I just assumed that most of my classes were determined because I was a freshman or fresh meat just like them.
The classroom wasn't as vast as the one we had just come from, Creature Research was an average-sized classroom with various chairs and tables. The instructor had his desk placed in front of all the tables, most likely to view whatever assignments he would come to assign or should I say she. The instructor was a woman called Charlotte Lock, or as I would come to call her just Mrs. Lock or Professor lock.
The professor wore an oversized white lab coat and orange gloves which all contrasted with her midnight-black hair and brown eyes. The glasses she wore also helped her look as if they weren't for protecting her eyes but for helping her vision. After I introduced myself to her I took my seat by Steward and Patricia, one was staring at the professor in a daze whereas the other was scolding him. To this, I could tell that during my week away new feelings had bloomed between the two or rather at least one of them.
"Welcome back everyone, this week we are going to be discussing the various affinities that are possessed by beasts. However today we will be focusing on one of the more common to find affinities, the Wind affinity." Professor Lock said before getting out of her seat and walking around the room.
"The wind affinity gives beasts the ability to manipulate the very air that we use to breathe which surrounds them and all things. Now obviously the higher in rank a beast is the stronger they are so using such logic we can determine that its affinity grows stronger on its journey. Now tell me who do you think would win in a battle."
"A Grade rank two beast with a wind affinity or a rank 2 beast with an affinity for the wind?"
"A-" I was going to respond but then I knew that the question was rhetorical because...
"A grade beast would win because they would be far more dangerous than a rank beast due to their higher intelligence allowing them to make better use of their ability." She said while smirking at me because I was the only one beginning to answer.
"Now I'll let you in on a little secret kept by your silver and golden fists, here in the golden academy we have a total of five Golden Children. Except they all aren't children they just can wield certain affinities. Carrying on, once you earn enough credits you can buy your very own inscription technique that allows you to use their power when activated for a short time. Many of the higher-ups have such inscriptions and some of their disciples or regular students who just saved up to purchase them." The professor began while a series of gasps were let out at the discovery.
Instead of gasping in surprise my mind shifted back to the lady from whom I stole my sword, and the fire inscription on the edge of the blade. 'I'd better not use that weapon while I'm here or they may report her death or missing report to me.' I thought while the Professor was giving us time to breathe.
"Now back to the wind affinity, sadly the Golden does not possess a Golden Child with such an affinity. The golden has discovered that the wind affinity is most useful when the beast is flexible, allowing them to boost themselves and dodge attacks. However, the most dangerous beast to encounter with a wind affinity would most definitely be a winged beast due to their wings allowing them to build momentum and strength in each strike and pierce." The professor spoke before taking her seat and deciding to go over the basics that they had covered last week in my absence.
"As you all know there are only seven placements of beasts for both Grade and Rank, along with those placements of strength comes Low-tier, Mid-tier, and finally High-tier. The strongest beast you can encounter would be a seventh-grade high-tier beast that hasn't been sighted in quite some time, and we have determined them to usually be the right-hand men for the Beast Lord whose strength we haven't been able to accurately measure due to his extremely rare appearances. Anyway, that's all I have to discuss for today. You may all begin talking amongst yourselves until the end of class." The professor said before enclosing herself in a book that read," Dummies Guide to Pregnancy."
"Well, Steward, it seems you never really had a chance with the professor," I said to Steward almost dying of laughter because he was way out of his league especially since the woman not only wore a silver ring but was also pregnant.
"It's not funny Marcel, I still have a chance I mean I don't see a round stomach do you?" To his question and Partica's sour face, I began to laugh. Then soon class was over and we were headed in the direction of the cafeteria which was about two times the size of my former home, which was saying something because I use to live in a mansion.
'The professor said that the wind affinity is most dangerous when it opponent has flexible movements which are great because I've just begun training with the spear and also have a wind affinity. So that gives me a bit of a direction to head in the insight of its mastery and forming a technique using magic, but that brings me to my next problem… How the heck am I going to level up without getting caught, or dying by targeting the wrong person?
"Marcel are you listening, we need you to pay attention because the next class we all have together is Basic Survival after our next one and the instructor is very strict about physically harming our peers," Partica said with an all to knowing tone.
"How can you lecture him when you've already broken a kid's arm?" Provided Steward whose style was well centered around control.
"So after our next class which is Ki manipulation then I have to be careful not to go overboard?"
"Yep." The two said, shaking their heads up and down in unison.
"I'll be able to manage," I said with a smile before eating my food that I would have preferred raw.
"Onwards to Ki manipulation," I said with a sigh, this time it would just be me and Partica because Steward had chosen a different class for an elective which was just more work.
