Carson cradled me in his arms while I slept. I woke up to him snoring lightly. I knew that this was my chance to run but something about Carson made me feel like I needed to stay. I carefully got up out of his arms and walked over towards the opening of the cave. Then I looked outside and then back at Carson not sure what I should do. I sighed knowing that if I left that I would soon be found. I went over and sat next to Carson. My stomach growled and as I laid my head on Carson's shoulder. There was a faint howl coming out from the cave which scared me. I snuggled up against Carson accidentally waking him up. "Hm? You ok?" He said sitting up. "I'm fine it's just that I'm scared and I don't know how I got here…" I brought my knees up to my chest and laid my head down. Tears came to my eyes as I missed my family. My stomach growled some more. "Are you hungry? What do you like to eat?" I looked up at Carson "I like fish!" Carson smiled and headed out of the cave. I looked around not sure what it was but I felt very uncomfortable without him around. I shivered as the wind brushed my skin. "I wonder if they have any other clothes I could wear to help block out the wind" I thought to myself. I got up ready to go outside into the village when a hand quickly pushed me back in. Carson came in and he seemed to be mad "You aren't allowed to go outside." I was furious that he wasn't letting me out "What?!" I screamed "Why not?" He looked at me with confused eyes. He acted as if I've never been in the outside world. "Females shouldn't go out. Since there is a very low population of the females, men will want to snatch them and keep them for them selves." I looked at him with furious eyes. Wasn't he keeping me to himself?! This isn't fair! I got up pushing him out of my way. He grabbed me and put me back in. "I'm serious. You shouldn't go out. You could get killed easily with your fragile body." Killed? Are the men here really that violent? I sighed and sat back down. "Eat." Carson said dropping the fish in front of me. I looked at it in disgust. I pushed it away. "I'm not eating that. Aren't you going to cook it?" Carson looked at me confused and then sighed. "Your a picky one aren't you?" I glared at him as he picked up the fish and went to start a fire. After he cleaned out the fish he cooked it and we ate. I looked at Carson and smiled at him since he had done a good job cooking the fish. "Can I go out to the village as long as your with me?" I asked. He nodded "But only if I'm with you. If I'm not you might get killed." I shuttered when he said the word kill. "May I go out today with you?" "Mhm!" He said with his mouth still full. I wonder what it looked like. Did all the other people have ears or was it just him?
