Without even hesitating, the kid opened the doors and ran into the tree. Whoever this kid was, he clearly cared a lot for his sister.
"What's your name?" I asked, running next to the kid.
"Steven." He answered, moving his head around quickly in an attempt to find his sister.
Steven's eyes suddenly locked onto something and ran through a bush, leaving me alone in this new environment. It would be a stupid idea to just let him run off on his own so I began to run after him, jumping through the same bush he ran through.
"Please don't run off ahead of me. We have no idea what we're facing off against." I said, stopping next to Steven.
"Right, sorry." Steven said, breathing heavily from all that running we just did.
I let out a sigh of relief and signaled him to follow me. I wanted us to get back on the path because that was our best chance of getting to a town.
"Help me!"
Steven and I turned our heads towards the voice. Without so much as hesitation, Steven ran off towards it.
"Hey wait! I just said don't run off without me!" I shouted, quickly chasing after Steven.
The two of us ran through the forest at full speed. I could feel the bushes scraping my legs as I brushed against them leaving me with an itchy feeling.
"There she is!" Steven pointed towards a small clearing in the forest.
In the middle of the clearing was a young girl who was definitely running away from something. What that something was though, I couldn't say.
"Emma!" Steven shouted.
The girl turned her head towards Steven and I could see the panicked look on her face wash away into relief. The moment was short lived though when a giant snake shot out from the bushes and towards the girl.
"John, give me one of your swords!" Steven said, reaching his hand out.
Without questioning it, I threw him one of my swords which he caught. Steven tightened his grip on the weapon and charged towards the snake with me following from close behind.
