Chapter 4 - Battle with the Giant Snake

Steven and I both rushed past Emma and clashed with the giant snake's fangs, stopping it dead in its tracks. Using our combined efforts, Steven and I managed to push the snake back and create some distance.

"Quite the welcoming party, huh?" I said, watching the snake for any sudden movements.

"Since you're joking I take it you have a plan to take this thing down?" Steven asked, looking over at me.

I shook my head, "not really."

Steven laughed at my answer before returning his attention to the snake, "ready when you are."

I nodded my head and charged towards the snake with Steven being right next to me. The snake swung its tail, forcing Steven to block but allowing me to continue. Before I had a chance to even attack, the snake lunged its head forward so it could bite me.

"Woah!" I shouted, jumping to the side to avoid the snake's bite.

I quickly slashed the side of the snake's head, though it didn't seem to hurt the snake all too much to my disappointment.

"Look out!" Steven's voice suddenly shouted from my left.

I looked over just in time to see the snake's tail just moments away from hitting me. I quickly raised my sword to block but was still sent flying into a tree, dropping my sword on impact.

"Good thing I keep healing herbs for times like these." I said, picking myself up and reaching into my pouch.

I pulled out a herb and swallowed it. Within moments, I could feel all my strength return to my body. I quickly retrieved my sword and started running back towards the snake.

"Let's wrap this up!" I said, running past Steven.

"Lead the way." Steven responded, catching up next to me.

The snake let out a loud hiss as the two of us approached it. The snake lunged its head but Steven and I both sidestepped it and slashed the side of its head. A grin crossed my face as I turned around to face the snake.

"No damage, huh? Let's see how you handle this attack though." I said, readying the blade.

I lunged towards the snake, holding onto my weapon tightly as it began to be set ablaze. I could see my weapon's flame reflect off the snake's eyes as I got closer.

"Flame Slash!"

All within an instant, the giant snake's head fell to the ground right as I returned my weapon to its sheathe. I let out a deep breath and turned to Steven to give him a thumbs up.
