When the elevator door dinged, Alison stepped out and looked at the environment before her. It was like a war zone. Everyone looked busy.
Alison didn't think it was going to be this way. Compared to where she was before, this place made her feel out of place.
Alison's heart started beating. For a moment, she decided to go back into the elevator and go back to her old department.
Just when she turned to go into the elevator again, a voice spoke behind her.
"Miss Alison?''
"Yes?'' Alison turned and looked at the man in front of her. He was dressed elegantly and everything about him looked immaculate and neat. Alison looked at his name tag.
This was Ali, the chief secretary to the President, Walden Kenji!
"Hi, I am Ali. The President's secretary. Please come with me'' Ali took the box that contained her things from Alison. He treated her with utmost respect, just the same way he treats Walden.
"Yes?'' Alison came back to her senses and followed Ali hurriedly. All the workers at the department were looking at her while mumbling to each other.
Ali entered his chamber which was just across the President's office. There was already a desk prepared for Alison by him so he placed her box on the table and turned to speak to her.
"Miss Alison, you can use this desk from now onwards''
"Huh?'' Alison was still in a daze. She replied with a confused gaze and looked at Ali.
Ali smiled and pointed at the desk saying again, "I said you can use this desk from now onwards''
"Wait! Can I ask you a question?'' Alison asked.
"Sure, go ahead''
"I don't think I know you and we've never met before, right?''
"That's about true…''
"Then, why are you doing this? I mean why did you suddenly bring me here? I don't think I did something to deserve this and I also don't want to be here. I just want… in any case, I am not here because I did something wrong and the President wants to torture me, right?''
"Miss Alison, rest assured. You did not do anything wrong. I looked into your resume and felt that you had skills that could come in handy here. It is a waste to keep a talent like you at where you are unproductive''
"But… I don't…''
"Miss Alison, here is a new contract for employment for you to sign. Please review it and let me know if you are satisfied with the payment plan and work schedule''
"Huh?'' Alison took the document from Ali and perused hurriedly. She looked up at him and asked, "this… I don't understand. What exactly am I going to be doing?''
"You will be my direct assistant and help me with arranging most of my meetings. You will process all the documents that come in from other departments and forward them to me. Your work hours are Mondays to Thursdays and Fridays you will work at the President's residence. You will go and clean the boss' residence and do his laundry'' Ali finished talking and turned the next page and pointed at the salary adding, "you will be paid $5000 dollars a month and a yearly bonus of $10,000 dollars''
Alison coughed when she saw the amount of money. She couldn't believe her eyes. Back at the marketing department, she was paid $1500 dollars a month but now she was going to be paid more than double of that amount.
The salary was indeed terminating but Alison felt that something was not right. The work outlined in the contract didn't seem that difficult so why would she be paid that huge amount of money.
Something else didn't sit well with her. She was going to clean the President's home every Friday… Alison looked at Ali suspiciously.
"Is there anything wrong, Miss Alison?''
"By cleaning you mean I will go into the President's home, the Penthouse to do housekeeping for him every Friday?''
"Yes, that's it''
"Doesn't he have a housekeeper?''
"That… the housekeeper quitted a few days ago''
"Why did she quit?''
"I can't tell you that if you don't sign the contract. You know you can't say anything about this to anyone, right?''
"Yes, I know that. But will the boss always be around when I go over to clean?''
"Do you want to meet the boss?''
"No! I'm asking so I will know what time to go to avoid meeting him''
Ali chuckled when he heard Alison's words. 'So, Miss Alison, will you sign the contract?''
"It's just cleaning, what can go wrong, right?'' Alison asked as she took the pen to sign the contract.
Ali's turquoise eyes shone brightly and he smirked and quickly masked it up when Alison looked up.
"Done!''
"Thank you, Miss Alison. You can take your time to pack your things. I will call you when I'm going for the department meeting later on''
"Will the President be there?''
"No, why do you ask?''
"So that I won't go. I'm sorry but I'm a little scared of the President''
"Have you met him before?''
"No, I don't even know how he looks like but I've heard rumors about him. They aren't so good, I don't want to get on his bad side. I have bad luck''
"I see, carry on'' Ali said before walking away.
Alison sighed and sat on her chair. She looked at the far corner and stared at the door which had the inscription, 'President's office' on it.
"I hope I never meet him'' she muttered.
….
Inside the President's office.
"Why do I feel that she hates you?'' A man with the same face as Boaz asked. It could be said that this was also Boaz, except that this person was Owen Dante, another personality that lived in Boaz's body and would often come out as much as Boaz.
Unlike Boaz, Owen is more cheerful.
Walden had a strange gaze. As if he was trying to figure her out. He felt that she was confusing him. She was just different from what he thought.
Ali entered the office and bowed before saying, "Boss, it's done''
