Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 470 - I am sorry

Chapter 470 - I am sorry

Wura yawned as she climbed off her bed, she did not know how tired she truly was because as soon as she returned back to her tent and sat on the bed she instantly fell asleep.

She had just been lying to herself all morning, she was truly exhausted from the long journey and from what she had seen and everything else, so it was not surprise that she had dozed off as soon as her head laid on a comfortably soft pillow.

Wura rubbed her eyes and stood up straight, stretching and yawning as she looked around wondering how long she had slept for.

Wura walked to the entrance of the tent and peeked her head through the flaps of the tent that acted as the door.

She looked left and then right, she could not see the guards that had followed her anywhere, which was weird because last she remembered they were standing right here guarding her tent before she dozed off.

Wura continued looking around as she instantly felt how cooler the air felt, it was no longer humid and dry as it was in the afternoon, but rather it was calm, cool and a little breeze blew.

It was then that Wura noticed that the bright blue sky was now being coloured by the red hue as the sun set, and that was when it hit her, the sun was setting which meant that it would be time for dinner soon!

Wura gasped as she rushed back into her tent, she had slept all afternoon, this was horrible, she could have overslept and missed dinner, that would just be terrible on her part.

It would be as if she had accepted the dinner invitation only to promise to be there and not end up showing up, what sort of person would she be if that happened??

Wura quickly started to get herself ready, for one she had to get out of her riding clothes, she had worn them all day and she was all sweaty and everything, she could not continue to wear this all day.

Wura walked to the couch where by the side of the tent's wall, there was a little wooden case, Wura had found out that Nora had packed her some extra clothes without her knowledge and she had kept it in this wooden case and given it to the carriage that had followed behind them.

Wura opened the case as she happened to find a simple yellow dress with short sleeves.

Wura shook her head as she laughed to herself, did she not ask Nora not to pack her any dresses and yet here they were. It made Wura laugh, Nora always thought ahead, and she really missed her so much.

Wura shunned her thoughts as she quickly got changed and ready, luckily her hair was still in the braided ponytail that Nora had braided for her, and she was very grateful for that or else she would have had to deal with her troublesome hair.

As Wura quickly brushed a few loose strands she heard someone calling her from outside the tent.

"My Queen, are you in there?" asked Mero as Wura turned to look at the entrance of her tent and she frowned as she threw her hairbrush on her bed and walked out of her tent.

"Mero" called Wura as Mero looked at her.

"Mero, you did not come and wake me up, I could have overslept" she said as she frowned at him and Mero's face remained neutral.

"You were sleeping when I came to check on you and it was still rather early at that time, you needed to rest so I did not wake you up" he replied casually as Wura still frowned at him, she did not believe him one bit, she was sure that if it was left to him he would have preferred that she slept till tomorrow morning.

"So you mean to tell me that you would have come and wake me up to go to the dinner I was invited to?" asked Wura as Mero nodded and she scoffed.

"I do not believe you" she replied as there it came again, the momentarily look of hurt that flashed through Mero's eyes.

"Then why else would I be here at this time than to escort you to the dinner you were invited to?" asked Mero plainly as realization flashed through Wura's eyes... he was right, and he was telling the truth.

If he had no intention to wake her up, then why would he come to see her?

"You are right, I am sorry Mero" said Wura as she quickly apologized but Mero did not seem pleased at all.

"Mhmm..." he replied.

"Well we should get going now, we do not want you to be late to your engagement" said Mero quickly as he gave her no time to say anything else.

"After you..." he said as he moved out of her way and Wura looked at him, she had done it again had she not? She had offended him once more.

Wura sighed internally, why did she keep on offending him and doubting him, it sure was irritating him regardless of if he did not say anything about it, his actions towards her spoke louder than his unsaid words.

Wura walked ahead as Mero followed behind her, she was trying to think of ways to apologize, still to this moment she had not apologized to him for what she had said in the morning, and now she had added another offence to it.

She was just simply tired, she did not know what to do to make Mero know that she was sorry, just simply saying that she was sorry was not enough at this point.

The walk to the camp was slow and quiet, the silence was killing for Wura, at least before Mero would try to talk to her, or ask her some certain questions, but he was upset and Wura could not blame him at all, she just kept on upsetting him.

"Where exactly are we going my Queen?" asked Mero as Wura stopped, they had already reached the camp and it was quite busy seeing as everyone was getting ready to prepare their dinners for their families as the sun in the sky descended till morning.

"She said that her tent is right on the edge of the valley." said Wura as now that she thought about it, where could that possible be? She was not sure.

"Hmmm." replied Mero as he walked ahead and Wura followed after him, if he did not say anything then it meant that he definitely knew where he was going, and she did not want to say anything more to upset him further.

He already was not pleased that she had agreed to this dinner without his permission, and he was even more angry that she had accused him of not coming to wake her up on purpose and now she did not even know where exactly she was going and he had to lead her.

That was enough to make anyone irritated beyond imagination, and yet Mero being the calm person that he was did not say anything at all.

So it was better that she start planning on how she would render him a well deserved apology, because she knew that she had offended him quite a lot today and the truth was that she did not like seeing him upset one bit, it did not suit him.

Especially when him being upset had something to do with her, it made her feel unhappy and Mero was someone she trusted and liked a lot, so if they were not on good terms then it would be bad since they would not be communicating properly and that would be a huge problem.

"The edge of the valley should be right around this corner" he said as he suddenly spoke up and Wura snapped out of her thoughts and started to look at their surroundings.

Wura could see the little settlements of the tents that the people were inhabiting, the tents were considerably spaced from each other leaving the layout of the camp clean and easy to navigate through.

Wura could hear the delightful cheerful voices and giggles of children that were still playing and running around the camp as their parents called them home for dinner and they ran past she and Mero as Wura could not help but smile.

The camp had returned to its peaceful demeanor as the sun was setting. Wura could not help but think about what Nora and the others were doing at the camp at this time, and that led her to start worrying about if things were going on alright back at the camp and if everything was fine.

Wura did not consider herself someone who liked worrying, but she just could not help it, for the past few months it seemed that all she did was worry, and that was just adding more worry to her worry.

Wura was still worrying when she suddenly heard a bright familiar voice call out to her as she looked up.

"My Queen, you are here!" said the woman as she looked up smiling brightly.
