"So all that noise is because of me?" asked Wura as she looked at Mero and he looked at her.
"It would seem like it" he replied casually as Wura looked at him in a mix of disbelief and confusion.
"That has to be incorrect, I do not think that people knowing that I am here would elicit such a reaction like this" said Wura as she shook her head, she was sure that there was something else more important that had happened, and not just because of her presence that there was such a loud noise.
"Trust me my Queen... you do not know how important you truly are to the people..." said Mero as he stopped to look at Wura as she stopped as well and looked at him.
She did not know why, but she felt like he meant to say something more than what he said, but he decided not to say it as he continued on walking and Wura did the same.
She was still in disbelief... was she truly that important? She did not know... she never thought herself to be someone that important, she never saw herself as someone that people would be thrown into a disarray like this.
As they got closer and closer to the camp, the loud noises of shouting became louder and louder, Wura felt that it was so loud that she would have preferred to cover her ears with her hands if not that she wanted to make sure she had her balance so she did not fall.
Wura was starting to feel nervous and she did not know why. Maybe it was the loud noise, or the feeling that the people were expectantly waiting for her, or maybe just her own issues coming to light, but whatever it was, she suddenly did not feel all that confident, and she started to feel uneasy, sick almost.
"Mero... I think we should stop for a while, only a little while" said Wura as she stopped walking and Mero stopped walking and turned to look at her as he did not understand what she was saying, what did she mean by that?
"Why?" he asked as Wura kept quiet and looked away, how could she tell him that she was suddenly feeling nervous? It made no sense, why would she be nervous for something as little as this?
Mero sighed as he could already put his finger on the reason why Wura suddenly wanted to stop.
"There is no need for you to feel nervous" said Mero as Wura looked at him, was it that easy for him to see that she was nervous?
"But there is... I just suddenly do not feel so good... what is all the noise about?" asked Wura with a sad frown on her face.
"What if the people are angry, they are sad, they are unhappy, or worse, what if they hate me?" asked Wura as Mero sighed internally, he had forgotten that this was Wura's first official duty of tacking situations like this. It made sense that she was intimidated, but she was a strong confident woman, she should not let herself feel like this right now.
"There is no need to be intimidated my Queen... you are wrong, they do not hate you, they might be unhappy yes, they might be sad yes, and maybe even angry, but I doubt they would hate you, you have not done anything" said Mero.
"Exactly Mero, exactly, I have not done anything, I have not been present, I feel like I am nothing but a figure head filling in an empty position" said Wura as Mero sighed.
"Let me assure you right now my Queen that you are not just a figure head, you have done your best, you have made sure to show yourself worthy of the position you are in, and you are not just filling in an empty position, you are making a position that belongs to you fit yourself and your interests" said Mero.
"If anything, you have done more good than anyone else in your position would have done, and that is why I believe that if any single person there holds a grudge towards you because they claim you have done nothing then they are clearly blind and cannot see the hands of your support everywhere around them" said Mero sincerely.
"It is because of you that they are not sleeping in the ruins of their burnt down houses, it is because of you that they have received aid, that they have food to eat and tents to leave in with their families, it is because of you they have access to the best physicians to help them" said Mero.
"Any other ruler would not care about what happens to the lower class people of their Kingdom, but you, you care about the people deeply like they are your own family" said Mero.
"I have never seen someone so passionate about helping others like you... the only other person I can think of is Liam... and I believe that is why he loves you so much.., the two of you are one in the same, you share the same ideas and beliefs, and most of all you truly care about the wellbeing of people" said Mero.
"Now, I am sure if Liam was here he would not want you to feel nervous one bit, because you have earned and you deserve the love and respect that you will receive, not because the people are obliged to, but because they see all your good works around them" said Mero as the way he spoke with so much genuine and sincerity in his voice made Wura instantly feel supported and understood.
"And it is for that reason that we should not stop, you have always been passionate about helping the people first hand, now is your chance to do so, and I am sure no feeling of nervousness can cause you to forget what you are so passionate about" said Mero as before he even finished speaking Wura just enveloped him in a hug.
"Thank you Mero... thank you so much, your words mean so much to me, and you are right..." said Wura as she smiled and let go of Mero as he stood there unmoving, taken aback by her sudden intrusion of his personal space, he would have never expected her to hug him like that.
"I should be confident, because this is where I want to be, and helping people is what I want to do" said Wura as she smiled.
"Thank you Mero" she said as she smiled to him and she started walking, this time quicker and with more confidence and happiness in her steps, if she had had doubts before, she certainly did not now.
Mero was the most honest person she knew, if he thought that way about her, then certainly many others shared his views, and that was enough to give her the boost of confidence that she needed.
Mero was still standing there, in a little daze as the advancing figure of Wura's back is what snapped him out of his daze as he rushed to catch up with her. He was her personal guard, how could he let her continue on her own?
Wura could see the guards stationed as a barricade was created separating the camp from the road that let to where her tent was situated as the noises and shouts were at their loudest, but since Mero had already increased Wura's confidence, the loud noises did not make her scared one bit.
If anything, they made her want to know what exactly the noise was truly about, she did not think that her presence alone would be able to cause such a disarray, there had to be something deeper that caused this commotion.
Wura stopped as she did not make any attempt to move any closer to the guards that were blocking the barricade as two guards noticed her presence and proceeded to move closer to her as an attempt to protect her since Mero was still a considerable distance behind her.
"What is going on? Why is there such a loud commotion?" asked Wura as one of guards replied to her.
"Greetings my Queen, the people are in a commotion, some are saying that we are lying that you are truly present, while some refuse to belief that you are here, while some are excited to see you" said the guard as he bowed his head.
"Why do they think that it is a lie that I am here?" asked Wura in confusion, she did not get that.
"They refuse to believe that a woman so busy as yourself my Queen, will be unable to come and see them, they believe that we are just lying to them in order to make them behave and ration their aids" replied the other guards.
"That sounds horrible... this is an unnecessary misunderstanding that must be cleared up quickly" said Wura in worry.
"And it will be cleared up now" said Mero as Wura turned as her eyes met his.
