Now that Mero had mentioned the possibility of there being danger ahead or behind them, she felt extremely uneasy.
She could not bear the thought of anyone getting hurt just because she wanted to go on this journey because she would surely feel guilty, because such danger could have been easily avoided.
It would have been better for her to stay at the camp and not go anywhere if this journey would cause unnecessary danger for anyone.
Mero could already tell what she was thinking in her mind and he did not like it one bit, the main reason he planned for her to go on this journey with him was to reduce her stress, but judging from the look of things now, she was stressed more than before.
"Wura I assure you that everything is perfectly alright" said Mero as Wura looked at him, not liking the use of the strong word "assure"
She did not know why Mero was so sure of that? What if it was not true? What if there was danger waiting for them ahead? What would he say then? Definitely not that everything was alright.
"And what if it is not Mero? What makes you so sure?" she asked as Mero looked at her she had a valid question, nothing was always certain, but he was just sure that everything was fine on both ends.
"Because I am sure Wura, I have made sure that the correct safety measures are put in place, I made sure that we are not being followed, and even if we were, I made arrangements for that as well" said Mero.
"And I am absolutely sure that the East is unaware of your departure, they do not know that you have left the camp, they might find out later, but for now, we are safe, and so is everyone else following us, so please do not worry because you are not going on this journey to worry" said Mero as Wura sighed.
"Alright Mero... I trust you...you are right... there is no need to be negative" said Wura as she took a deep breath and nodded.
"Thank you, and I agree" replied Mero as they went back to being in silence once more.
Wura did not feel like talking anymore, after all, her attempt at striking up a conversation had ended in her feeling worried and uneasy.
She did not know why she just felt so worried and uneasy, maybe it was because Nora felt the same way, through out last night Nora kept on saying that she had a bad feeling about this journey and back then Wura had been the one to assure her that she was just overreacting.
But now she was the one overreacting and feeling something strange about this journey. What if they were ambushed? What if they were attacked, sure Mero assured her that he had planned for any of those outcomes, but still, he could not know what exactly was going on in the enemy's head, he did not know what their plans were.
Wura did not want to share these feelings with Mero because she knew that he would only try to make her feel at ease again, so it was just better that she kept silent.
She kept on hoping and praying internally that they would arrive at Windharm soon so at least she could rest at ease at one problem evaded.
With the silence Mero was sure that Wura was probably thinking about all the bad things that could happen while they were on their way and he truly could not blame her.
He could only blame himself for not considering her concerns earlier, had he known that she would be this troubled, it would have been better for her to travel by carriage so at least she could be more comfortable.
Even though doing that would be way more risky, and make their journey longer, but at least she could rest better and even sleep, but now, she was just on edge.
They continued to ride in utter silence for the past town hours, but to Wura they did not feel that long, she had just been very consumed with her thoughts that the passage of time had not occurred to her any longer.
The sun's place in the sky had moved south and with it so did the sun's harsh rays start to increase, and so did the heat as well.
It was starting to get rather hot, which was strange considering that there were still a few hours left till noon and for it to get this hot, if they did not reach their destination soon, they would probably sweat exceedingly.
Mero glanced at Wura, he was starting to worry, he had not heard a single sound from her for a while now, and he knew what she had to be thinking about.
To be honest he did not know what else to say to cheer her up or make her feel better, or even just make her smile, he was blank, there was really nothing else that they spoke about.
The things they discussed between themselves were more sad things than happy things, it was either they spoke about Liam, or the war or anything else that was saddening, there was really nothing else they spoke about.
Mero cleared his throat, he was tired of hearing nothing but silence, he was not a talkative person, but he was worried about Wura.
"Wura are you hungry?" asked Mero as he looked at her, he knew that she had not been able to eat breakfast this morning since they left early, and maybe if she ate something she would feel better, they could stop for a while.
They had been riding for the past few hours, and even though he was used to it, he was sure that she felt a little bit tired even though she would not have preferred to admit it.
"No Mero, I am not hungry" replied Wura as she looked at him.
"Are you sure?" asked Mero as Wura nodded.
"Because if you are hungry there is nothing wrong with us stopping for a little break, so you can stretch your legs and move around a bit" said Mero as Wura immediately frowned and shook her head at the suggestion.
They were not in a safe place right now, there was no way that stopping for even a little while was on her mind, she did not feel like that was a good decision to be made.
Sure they had guards following not too far behind them, but what was the point of taking any unnecessary chances? It was better they continue on until they reached their destination.
"No Mero, I am not tired, actually I would prefer that we arrive in Windharm first, I do not want us to stop anywhere" said Wura as Mero knew why she had decided on that and once again he did not blame her.
If she feared for her safety and the safety of everyone else, it was understandable, and he agreed with her slightly, it was true, what would they do if they stopped and they were actually attacked?
"I understand why you think so Wura" said Mero as Wura was relieved that he did. She was glad that he was being understanding instead of insisting that she eat or take a break.
To be honest her legs did hurt, maybe she was getting tired easily because she did not get enough sleep last night, but she would prefer resting completely when they were done riding and they finally got to Windharm.
"Thank you Mero" said Wura as she smiled at him.
"So how much longer until we reach Windharm?" asked Wura as she turned her attention to the road ahead, it was dusty, barren and empty which was off considering that their camp was situated in a valley nearby and yet these two areas could not be more different from each other.
"I think it should be about three or four hours, it depends on if my calculations are very accurate or not" said Mero as Wura nodded.
"Alright then... that is not too long, before we know it, we will be there" said Wura as she smiled and Mero nodded, he really hoped that his reason for suggesting Wura come with him would not go to waste, he really wanted her to relax for a change.
...
Wura yawned from a mix of boredom and tiredness, she was completely exhausted, her legs were stiff and she felt like she would not be able to stand if she was to dismount.
She was internally groaning on the inside, wishing for this journey to end already, the sun was extremely hot now and she was sweating, she felt like she was melting, she prayed silently for Mero to tell her that they were finally there.
As if Mero had heard her internal groans of pain he turned to look at her and said the words that she was very joyful to hear.
"We have arrived at Winharm Wura" said Mero as he smiled at her and Wura looked relieved.
