Chapter 415 - A mocker

"*Ugh*" said Wura as she groaned and she opened her eyes as she felt a blast of light on her face as she blinked repeatedly.

Wura held her head as she had a horrible headache, everywhere hurt, she was so confused.

Wura tried to sit up straight in bed as she failed at that and lied back in bed, she did not feel like moving at all.

"My Queen, you are awake" said Nora with a smile as she walked to Wura with a cup of tea in her hand.

"Oh Nora, good morning" said Wura as she smiled, she still felt so horrible.

"How do you feel my Queen?" asked Nora with a smile.

"Horrible Nora, horrible, everywhere and everything aches, and I have a terrible headache" said Wura as she groaned.

"My Queen, I heard that you drank quite a lot last night" said Nora.

"Oh, did I? I do not even remember everything is a blur" said Wura as Nora set the teacup on the bedside table as she helped Wura sit up.

"Thank you Nora" said Wura with a smile.

"Here my Queen, this should alleviate your headache and make you feel better" said Nora with a smile as she handed the teacup to Wura.

"Oh, thank you Nora, what would I do without you?" asked Wura as she took the tea and she smelt it, it was hot, just what she needed right now, she had never felt this was before.

"Oh, I feel so horrible" said Wura as she groaned and took a sip of her tea.

"I can only imagine my Queen" said Nora.

"I am never drinking again, never" said Wura as Nora just smiled.

"Wine is a mocker" said Wura as she sipped her tea.

"True my Queen, but you did not drink wine, you drank mead" said Nora as she smiled.

"Well then mead is a mocker" said Wura as she laughed and Nora laughed.

"Creates a sense of enjoyment, makes you forget everything for but a moment, but when the effects cease it burns like fire and stinks like an adder" said Wura as she drank the tea and she started feeling a bit better.

"You speak the truth my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"I am just warning myself; I do not want to ever feel like this again" said Wura as Nora smiled, Wura felt horrible right now, her mind was a mess, she could not remember anything at all.

"My Queen, Sir Mero told me that you joined the men at the summer festival and you drank a lot" said Nora.

"I blame myself and partially the mead, it was too sweet, and I got lost in the drinking" said Wura.

"And now I feel very irresponsible, I am the Queen, I am supposed to be a good example, and yet here I am waking up at noon" said Wura as she sighed, she felt very disappointed in herself, she should have known better, drinking would never do her any good.

"Do not blame yourself my Queen, you were carried away in the moment" said Nora as she poured Wura some more tea.

"My Queen, I know that on a normal day, you would never drink like that… what drew you to drink?" asked Nora in curiosity, because if anything it was unlike Wura to behave like this.

"Oh Nora…" said Wura as she sighed.

"I do not know, I was just so lonely, and I missed Liam so much, I could not sleep so I walked around the Castle and found the knights celebrating, and everything just happened" said Wura.

"My Queen, if you were lonely you could have just told me, I would have stayed with you and kept you company" said Nora.

"I know Nora, but I did not want to bother you, I had already sent you to your room, and I wanted to be alone, but it was a bad idea, I ended up doing what I should not have done" said Wura as she groaned and took another sip of her tea, she would drink the entire teapot if it would make her feel any better than she felt right now.

"Nora did you sleep here?" asked Wura in confusion.

"Yes, my Queen I did, once Sir Mero came to call me" said Nora.

"Oh, I must have given Mero and the others a great scare for him to go and call you" said Wura as she laughed.

"That you did my Queen, you really did, he looked very worried" said Nora as she laughed.

"He had to tie you up" said Nora as she laughed.

"Oh my, I really need to apologize to him, I must have been so horrible" said Wura as she laughed and she shook her head.

"My Queen, should I bring you your food now" said Nora.

"Thank you, Nora, I assure you that this will be the first and last time that you have to take care of me like this" said Wura as she smiled.

"That does not matter my Queen, just please focus on getting better" said Nora as she smiled and Wura smiled at her as she walked out of her room and Wura sighed.

"I know you would be disappointed in me too for drinking too much" said Wura to herself as she got out of bed, she could not just stay in bed all day, it would make her feel even worse than she already did.

Nora walked through the halls as she was looking for Mero, she had already looked in the training grounds and she could not find him anywhere, so she was sure that he would probably be in his office.

Nora walked to Mero's office as she knocked on the door and heard his voice telling her to come in from inside the room.

"Good Morning Mero" said Nora with a polite smile as Mero looked up from his desk at her.

"Good morning Nora" replied Mero as he looked like he hadn't slept at all.

"How is the Queen? Is she awake yet?" asked Mero.

"Well she is alright, she just woke up not to long ago, and with a terrible headache I might add" replied Nora.

"As expected, no one can drink that much and wake up feeling usual" said Mero.

"I agree, but I prepared some warm tea to make her feel better" said Nora as Mero nodded.

"Mero are you alright? Did you not sleep well?" asked Nora as she noticed the bags under his eyes, this was the first time she had seen Mero looking so tired.

"I am fine, I just have a lot of work to do" replied Mero, how could he sleep when he was sure that he had made the worst mistake of his entire life by kissing Wura.

"I see…" said Nora.

"Well anyway, her Majesty asked me to call you, she wants to see you" said Nora as soon as she mentioned those words Mero's eyes shot wide open.

"She… wants to see me??" asked Mero as he quickly masked his surprise and looked at Nora, trying to look unfazed, but a certain shakiness in his voice that Nora was not able to notice said otherwise.

"Yes she does, she is in his Majesty's office" said Nora.

"Alright Nora, thank you for informing me, I will be there shortly" said Mero.

"Okay then" replied Nora as she left the room and Mero slumped back on his chair and let out a deep sigh, he did not know if Wura just wanted to see him, or if she wanted to see him because she remembered what happened last night.

If it was the latter, Mero would be as good at dead, but right now, he did not want to overthink this, after all, she had drank quite a lot, she might not even be able to remember anything that happened last night.

So he just needed to calm down and behave maturely as he usually did.

Mero braced himself as he stood in front of the door to Liam's office, he took one calming deep breath before proceeding to knock on the door, hoping that he would not regret coming here in the first place.

"Come in" said Wura as she was in Liam's office and she heard a knock on the door.

"Good Morning my Queen" said Mero as he walked into the office.

"Good morning Mero" replied Wura with aa quick smile and Mero sighed in relief internally when it seemed like everything was normal and she did not appear to remember anything.

"My Queen, I thought that you were supposed to be resting" said Mero as he sat down after Wura gestured for him to.

"I do not deserve to rest; I would rather do some work and not feel guilty" said Wura.

"How do you feel my Queen? You had… quite a lot to drink" said Mero carefully.

"So I have heard, and I also felt the after effects quite greatly" said Wura as she smiled.

"Yes, my Queen, we did try to stop you, but you insisted on drinking" said Mero.

"I know Mero, you are not at fault, I am, I know how stubborn I was, and I will never drink again" said Wura as she smiled and Mero was relieved that she had come to the decision on her own. She could really go over the edge when she was drunk.

It made him wonder if she had behaved so loosely with him because she knew him, or if she really lost all her common sense with the drinking, if it was then latter, then she was truly one of the people who really lost control when they were drunk.

He had never seen her act like that before, with the way she was drunk, he had actually thought that she would be in bed for the entire day or even more.

"That is for the best my Queen" said Mero as Wura suddenly felt her head throb as she seemed to remember something that she had forgotten, her eyes went wide when foreign and yet familiar memories flashed in her head along with some familiar burning sensations.

"Mero…" called Wura after a somewhat long while of silence that Mero was starting to worry about.

"Yes…my Queen?" asked Mero in confusion.

"Mero… I…I… did… did we… kiss??!" asked Wura in a mix of embarrassment, disbelief and mostly horror as she could not believe what she had just remembered, she had acted insane, truly insane.

Mero on the other hand completely stiffened when he heard her question, he had not expected her to remember so soon, he had revelled in relief too quickly… he was in shock, he did not even know what to answer her.

"Mero!" called Wura in horror when Mero did not reply to her at all, it was as if he was frozen.

Wura's loud voice was enough to snap Mero out of his shock as he looked at her.

"Mero… tell me the truth… did… did we… share a kiss?" asked Wura as she could not even say it out loud, her words trailed off to nothing but a whisper when she said the word kiss.

Mero sighed, there was no point lying or denying, she remembered herself, and there was nothing he could do than to say the truth.

"Yes my Queen… we did kiss but… briefly, very briefly" replied Mero as Wura groaned in disappointment and anger at herself as she slumped into the chair.

"Oh my goodness I feel so horrible, how could I have done that??? I betrayed Liam, what sort of wife am I??" asked Wura as she started to ramble out loud.

"My Queen, it was not your fault… you mistook me for Liam" said Mero as he was feeling guilty watching her feel so terrible, she was of course under the influence of alcohol, he on the other hand was still in the right frame of mind and yet he allowed it happen, he was such a horrible person.

"Oh Mero, I am so sorry, I do not know what came over me, I should have never confused you for him you, I just feel so ashamed right now" said Wura as she shook her head and covered her face with her hands, how could she have kissed her husband's most trusted ally??

"Do not be my Queen, you did so while not being in the right frame of mind" said Mero as he really did want to make her feel better, his guilt was eating him up on the inside.

"That is still no excuse, I am still ashamed, I must have done so to you forcefully and for that I am so sorry, getting drunk was the worst mistake I have ever made in my entire life" said Wura as her voice was full of regret.

"My Queen, it… it is not your fault… I should have stopped you" said Mero.

"I know Mero, but I am sure that you did not want to hurt me by pushing me away, and you too drank, we were both not in the right frame of mind, but I blame myself more… I should have known better" said Wura as she sighed, even though she felt horrible, she had a little relief that she had gone insane with Mero and not some random stranger.

And she was relieved that what they had done was only a kiss of less than a minute, she would never be able to forgive herself if anything worse than this had happened.

"My Queen, I am also to blame as well, and I know that it is hard for you, you miss Liam a lot" said Mero.

"Oh Mero, you do not know the half of it, I just feel so empty, and I am tired of everything, but that still is no excuse for what I did" said Wura as she sighed.

"Even if It was only a little kiss, it is the same as me betraying Liam and I would never want to do that… I love him" said Wura.

"I know you do my Queen, and he loves you too… I know that better than anyone" replied Mero.

"I… *sigh* I just miss him so much; everything seems harder without him each passing day" said Wura.

"It will get easier my Queen" said Mero as he tried to comfort her.

"No, do not say that Mero, do not lie to me, I have no idea where Liam is, I do not know how he is doing, I do not even know if he remembers me, It as if keeping this false hope is doing me more harm than good, I am just so tired" said Wura.

"My Queen, I might not have the answer to all your questions" said Mero as he truly wanted to help Wura, he knew that she was going through a lot, and drinking would not solve what it was.

"But I am certain of one thing, and that Is Liam, loves you" said Mero.

"And I love him" said Wura.

"I know that you do my Queen, so are you really going to lose your hope?" asked Mero.

"Oh Mero, of course not, after everything… I cannot just stop thinking about him, I cannot forget him, even if that seems like the best option" said Wura.

"I just do not know what to do" said Wura.

"Then wait my Queen, wait" said Mero.

"If there is one thing I know about Liam, he will never let anything or anyone stop him from finding out the truth" said Mero sincerely.

"Just trust him and wait" said Mero as Wura sighed, she really did not know what to say, or what to think, but one thing was for sure, she did not want to give up on waiting for Liam, not now, not ever, no matter how hard it was or how difficult it felt.

"Thank you for your encouraging words Mero" said Wura as she gave him a small smile.

"You are welcome my Queen" replied Mero.

"And I want you to forgive me for displaying madness last night, and especially forgive me for kissing you, it should never have happened" said Wura.

"It is alright my Queen, it was nothing more than just a baseless kiss, it meant nothing" said Mero in a reassuring manner that was able to put Wura's heart at ease.

"Yes… you are right… it meant nothing… it was just a stupid mistake" said Wura as she nodded and Mero nodded and he stood up, he was sure that it would be a good time to leave now.

"Mero, I hope that we can just move on and forget that any of this happened… after all, I do not want baseless rumours floating around the castle" said Wura.

"You can count on me my Queen, it never happened" replied Mero with a smile.

"Thank you Mero… really thank you" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome my Queen, please excuse me" said Mero as Wura nodded and smiled at him as he left the room and Wura sighed.

"Please forgive me Liam, I am so sorry, I promise you that I will tell you what happened when you return" said Wura as she sighed.
