Several weeks had passed since the battle that had happened in the valley had ended. The war with the East was finally over. A problem that had spanned over decades had been ended in an instant.
After the death and beheading of Olamide their leader, most of the Eastern warriors fled the scene and retreated to their own lands as they were chased by the Wyverdanian army and they ceased to fight against them, every man running for his own life as some were captured.
The war and all attempts to attack Wyverdale ended. As the saying went, kill the leader and the people will scatter, and that is exactly what happened here, Olamide died, and the East immediately stopped being a threat at all.
Liam knew that very well and that was why he had focused on getting rid of their leader, which he succeeded in doing, and that ended their problems. Decades of problems focused and due to the East and their retaliation had finally ended.
Everywhere was peaceful and it was like a breath of fresh air, as if the sun had just started to shine brightly on Wyverdale.
Wura sighed as she looked at her refection in the dressing table mirror as she brushed her hair, she was completely tired from all her activities today.
All she wanted to do was climb in bed and go to sleep, but ever since what happened, the Castle had been busier than ever and a bit crowded as well with all the refugees that were waiting for their towns and houses that were burnt down by the East to be rebuilt.
And that would take quite a while, it was not like Wura minded having them here at all, she liked all the extra company and families, it was nice having more people here, but with more people her responsibilities tripled.
As Queen she had to make sure that everyone was comfortable and happy, and she did sympathize a lot with those who lost things that were irrecoverable, she knew it was hard for them.
She had a lot of duties to carry out daily, considering that she was back to handling the Queen's post fully, and honestly she was tired it was a lot to deal with, It was much more different than just writing letters and replying to them.
But that was not the worst part, the worst part was that she and Liam had not seen each other in several weeks, and that was concerning considering that they both lived in the same Castle.
Wura did understand why though, with Liam back, he resumed all his duties quickly, and he had so much to do, he had to deal with the repercussions of the war. He had to handle the rebuilding of the burnt down homes.
And to add to that, Wura had heard from Mero that he also had to handle the East's plea to sign a newly drafted treaty for peace that was more in their favour than theirs, which was good news and compensation for everything that they had put them through.
Wura knew that Liam was extremely busy, but this was simply too much for her not to even see him in weeks. It was not like she had not tried to see him; she had gone to his office to see him numerous times but every time she went there, he was gone and she had heard that when he came to see her, she had already left her own office as well.
It was just unfair that they were not purposefully missing each other, and it really worried Wura because they really had a lot to talk about and discuss, which was impossible since they were so busy, but mostly he was busy, Wura was actually a bit worried about him, she was not sure if he was sleeping or eating well.
Wura sighed, it was one thing not having him here and missing him terribly, but it was another thing entirely when he was right here with her, in the same Castle as she was, and yet they were not together.
"My Queen, may I come in?" came Nora's voice from outside the door as she knocked.
"Yes Nora, come in" said Wura as Nora opened the door and walked into the room.
"My Queen, sorry to disturb you, but Lady Marli told me to inform you that she needs your final approval before she sends out the gift baskets you ordered to be sent out to the villages affected by the fire" said Nora.
"Which baskets?" asked Wura in confusion as her memory came back to her.
"Ahh those baskets" said Wura when she remembered what Nora was talking about.
"Yes my Queen, what should I tell Lady Marli?" asked Nora.
"Oh Nora, honestly I am exhausted, I do not think that I can go out again and try to sort everything out, I just want to climb into bed and go to sleep right now" said Wura as she sighed and Nora smiled.
"You know what Nora, do me a favour and check on those baskets, I am sure you know what I requested for, and if it is to your liking, then order them to be sent out" said Wura as she really had no intention of leaving her room anytime soon.
"Alright my Queen, I will do so" said Nora as she smiled and bowed her head.
"Thank you Nora" replied Wura with a smile.
"Have a goodnight my Queen" replied Nora as she smiled.
"I will Nora, thank you, and have a goodnight as well" replied Wura as she smiled and Nora left the room and closed the door behind her.
Wura continued to brush her hair even though she was sure that it would be all tangled in the morning when she woke up, she wondered why she even bothered when she was obviously so tired, she could not even begin to imagine how tired Liam must have felt, he had so much to take care off.
Wura stopped brushing her hair and she looked down when she heard the door open and someone walked in, whom she assumed was Nora.
"Nora did you forget anything?" asked Wura as she dropped her hairbrush on the ground and she bent down to pick it up.
"You know, I did not know that Nora stayed here, I had thought that this was my room" came Liam's amused voice as Wura gasped and quickly looked up when she heard his voice and she turned around to look at him.
"Liam??!" called Wura in surprise, she was truly surprised, she was just thinking about him and here he was, it was almost too good to be true for Wura to believe, but when she saw Liam smile she knew that he was really here.
Wura picked up her hairbrush and placed it on the dressing table as she stood up.
"You do not sound happy to see me" said Liam with a smile, he had not seen her in weeks and he did not expect her to react like she was a bit unhappy.
"You surprised me, of course I am happy to see you, but you have been so busy and I know why" said Wura.
"You did not come to see me?" asked Liam.
"I did several times, but each time I did Luc told me that you had stepped out" said Wura.
"I am sorry" replied Liam.
"You do not have to be sorry for anything Liam, I know that you are busy sorting everything out and all" said Wura as she really wanted to run to him and throw herself on him and hug him, but she felt like this was only a coincidence and he would be going soon, and she did not want to disturb him.
"I wanted to surprise you, but you mistook me for Nora" said Liam as he smiled.
"Oh I am sorry Liam, Nora was just here moments ago and I had thought that maybe she had forgotten something" replied Wura as she laughed, why did it sound like Liam was a bit jealous.
"Ahh I see, I thought you loved Nora more than me" said Liam as he laughed and Wura laughed.
"Oh do not be childish Liam, really" said Wura as she laughed.
"Are you going to go back to work or?" asked Wura.
"No I am not, I have some time" said Liam as he smiled and Wura felt happy when she heard those words.
"How much time?" asked Wura.
"Enough time to spend with you my love" said Liam as he smiled and Wura walked to him and hugged him.
"I do have a question though" said Liam as Wura looked up at him while still hugging him.
"What is it?" asked Wura with a bright smile.
"What are you doing in my room?" asked Liam as he smiled and looked around, his room was different than he had remembered, there were some changes, for one, he did not remember having a dressing table and mirror in here.
