Chapter 194 - The letter

"Alright I see" said Liam as he was walking through the Castle halls as a young Castle guard followed behind him.

"Is there anything else that you want to tell me?" asked Liam as he stopped walking and he paused as he turned around to look at the guard.

"Ahh well nothing else Sire" said the guard as he bowed and he shook his head.

"The Knights have went out for training my King" said the guard as he made sure to add that fact.

"Alright then, thank you" said Liam.

"Have you by any chance seen Mero?" asked Liam.

"No my King, I have not seen him at all" said the guard as he shook his head.

"Well then, you may go back to your duty post" said Liam.

"Thank you Sire" said the guard as he bowed his head and he walked away as Liam faced his way and he walked to his office, he had been up and down, out and about in the Castle today, he had realized that he needed more tighter security in the Castle, since the East were not to be trusted, and they could as well decide to strike at any time, so Liam needed to be prepared.

Liam nodded at a guard as a guard saluted him as he passed by into another hall, Liam opened the door to his office as he walked into his office and he closed the door behind him as he sat down on his desk.

His desk was cluttered with many documents and translations, he had ordered that when the maids cleaned his office that they do not touch his desk at all, he always left his desk like this, he could easily navigate what it was that he was looking for, and he would tidy it up when he was ready.

Liam sighed, he always knew that it was a great task to be King, but this was just too much for him, he was crowded with work, he did not know if it was because there were so many problems in the Kingdom, or if it was because he had just become King, but regardless he was tired, and he still needed to keep on going.

Liam removed the crown on his head as he placed it on the right side of his desk, he was alone right now, and he was not going to go anywhere, he still had a lot to do here.

Liam took a look at his left bandaged hand, it still hurt him, but based on the physician's orders he had made sure not to let it come into contact with any water, and he had made sure to be very careful, he only hoped his hand would heal soon, all the guards had obviously seen his hand, but they asked no questions at all.

Liam decided that he had thought enough already, so he got ready to start looking through some files when a particular letter in a yellow envelop caught his eye, he did not remember leaving any letters on his desk before he stepped out earlier, so he wondered just where this letter had come from.

Liam picked up the letter as he held it in his right hand, he could not recall ever receiving a letter, he turned the letter around as he saw that the envelope was not signed at all, and this piqued his interest, although it was highly suspicious the origins of the letter, but the only way for him to know if it was important or not was for him to read it.

Liam tore open the envelope as he opened the letter and it read;

"Your Dear Majesty,

Please accept my condolences of the passing of your Father, he was a great man, with great values, and he taught us all what it meant to live life, he was a jovial man, whose smile resembled that of the early morning sun on a summer's morning.

Your Majesty, I know that you have a great legacy to live up to, and I know that you are trying your very best to make sure you do not let your people down, but you need to take care of yourself as well.

I know that we have neither seen or spoken to one another in a long time, but believe me when I say that I care about you, we your loyal subjects care about you, and we all wish to see you in good health, you do not need to overwork yourself, because if you do and you get ill, what good does that bring to you?

Please take care of yourself well your Majesty, and do not expect too much of yourself, less you end up stressing yourself even more.

Please sleep well, eat well, and work well, because your health is our top concern, I hope that you consider my words.

Yours Truly.

Lady Diwura Lily Scot.

"Hmm…" said Liam to himself as he stopped reading the letter and he seemed to be thinking, well he had not expected this letter from her at all, he had been avoiding her, and yet she wrote a letter to him.

"She… she cares about me?" said Liam to himself as the thought brought smile to his face… even though he had been unfair to her ever since his father passed, she still cared about him.

Her words had touched him… they really did, he did not deserve her kindness at all, he had been so unkind to her, and yet here she was taking it upon herself to write him a letter… he was grateful to her.

"My Queen, I have returned" said Nora as she smiled and she walked into Wura's room.

"Welcome back Nora" said Wura as she was sitting on her bed.

"Have you done what I asked you to do?" asked Wura.

"Yes my Queen, I have" said Nora as she nodded her head.

"I placed the letter on his Majesty's desk, he should see it when he returns" said Nora.

"Alright…" said Wura.

"Thank you Nora" said Wura as she smiled, Nora had always been a great help to her, even when she did not know what she wanted to do, Nora had gotten her the items she used to write the letter.

"You are welcome my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"I really hope that he reads it" said Wura.

"I am sure he will my Queen" said Nora.

"Nora, are you not going to ask why I decided to write his majesty a letter?" asked Wura as she looked at Nora, Nora had only done what she had asked her to do, without asking any questions at all, so Wura believed that she was entitled to know, besides, she knew the true nature of the relationship she and Liam had.

"No my Queen, I am sure that you have your own reasons" said Nora as she replied honestly.

"The thing is Nora… after what Sir Mero said… I… became concerned" said Wura.

"My Queen…are… are you worried for his Majesty?" asked Nora.

"Of course I am worried Nora" said Wura as she replied.

"Just because he is now King does not mean that he should just neglect his own health like that, how does he expect to live long if he does not take care of himself well?" asked Wura as she sighed and she looked at Nora as Nora remained quiet.

"You may speak freely Nora" said Wura as she knew that Nora had something to say.

"Ah… well my Queen… if you are worried for his Majesty… then does that not mean that you care for him?" asked Nora.

"Of course I care for him Nora… I may not be in love with him, but I am fond of him, he can be very nice when he wants to be, and in a way… I understand him..." said Wura as she paused.

"Everything was just so sudden, from the death of his Majesty, to his Majesty having to ascend the throne immediately, and then he took over the King's office right away, everyone has just been too concerned with themselves that no one ever stopped to consider and ask just how his Majesty is feeing… he did not even get to grieve properly before he began to carry the entire Kingdom on his shoulders" said Wura and Nora had to agree with her, she was right Liam had not had time to process everything.

"I do not think that anyone has considered to stop and ask him if he feels alright… if he is happy… or if he sad, or if he feels alone…" said Wura.

"My Queen, you are right" said Nora.

"Everyone looks up to him as King, that they seem to forget that he is only human as well, he has the same flesh we do, he feels the same pain and emotions that we do" said Wura as her heart really broke for Liam, he had no one to turn to.

"And that is why I wrote him a letter to show him my support" said Wura.

"You have a good heart my Queen" said Nora as she smiled, she was sure that no one had even considered doing such a gesture for his Majesty.

"Oh Nora… I really wish that I do" said Wura as she smiled.

"My Queen, shall I bring you your dinner" asked Nora as she smiled.

"Ah… well yes Nora, thank you" said Wura as she smiled, she felt better now because she remembered that she would be dining on her own dining table for the first time this evening.

"You are welcome my Queen" said Nora as she bowed and she walked away as she closed the door.

"*Sigh*" said Wura as she sighed, she really wished that Liam was alright.
