"My Queen, would you like anything special for breakfast this morning?" asked Nora as she walked behind Wura as they made their way to the dining room.
"No Nora, I do not want anything special for breakfast" replied Wura, she did not knew what she even wanted, so she would prefer to just eat.
"Alright my Queen" said Nora as she nodded her head and she entered into the dining room after Wura as other maids entered and they set the dining table as Wura sat down at her usual spot where she usually sat beside Liam.
"Thank you" said Wura as she smiled at one of the maids as she poured her a cup of tea.
"You are welcome my Queen" said the maid as she smiled and she bowed as she left the dining room.
"My Queen, do you require anything?" asked Nora as Wura turned to look at her, was it only her or was Nora behaving a bit strangely today?? She was asking so many questions on what Wura wanted.
"No Nora, I do not need anything" said Wura as she smiled.
"Alright my Queen" said Nora as she nodded her head and in that moment another maid walked into the dining room.
"My Queen, I am sorry to disturb you" said the maid as she stood beside Wura as Wura turned to look at her.
"That is alright" said Wura as she smiled.
"My Queen, his Majesty asked me to inform you that he will be unable to join you for breakfast this morning" said the maid as she explained.
"Oh…" said Wura as the smile on her face dropped.
"Well that is alright, thank you for telling me" said Wura as she cleared her throat, and she forced a smile at the maid.
"You are welcome my Queen" said the maid as she smiled and she bowed her head.
"Please excuse me my Queen" said the maid as she smiled and she walked away.
Wura did not know why she felt this way? What did she expect?? Liam was King now, it would only make sense that he would not have time for menial things like this, such as eating breakfast with her.
"My Queen, are you alright?" asked Nora as she noticed that Wura's countenance had changed.
"Ahh… yes Nora… I am alright" said Wura as she snapped out of her thoughts as she turned to look at Nora.
"Alright my Queen, if you say so" said Nora.
"Ahh, Nora, you may go now, I will see you back in my room" said Wura as she smiled.
"Go and eat breakfast" said Wura as she smiled.
"Alright my Queen, as you wish" said Nora as she smiled and she nodded her head and she walked away as she left Wura alone in the dining room as Wura sighed.
Wura turned to look at the head of the dining table, that was where Alaric would usual sit, she could still see him sitting there, smiling and happy as he spoke, and she would smile and laugh and Liam would smile as well.
A lone tear slipped out of Wura's eye, it still felt like this was still a dream, and Alaric was not gone… but that was far from the truth, and the truth was hard to accept.
"Do not cry Wura, please do not cry" said Wura to herself as she sniffed and she wiped away her tear, she did not even get to see Alaric one last time, this was very hard for her, so this was how it felt to loose someone that you loved… it was a horrible feeling, the feeling and the realization that you would never be able to see them again, it was just horrible.
"Alright then, no crying, his Majesty would not want you to cry" said Wura to herself as she sighed and she drank her tea, it would seem that she would be eating alone today… but what could she do?? Nothing at all.
…
After Breakfast.
"My Queen, may I speak with you on something?" asked Nora as she looked at Wura as Wura was sitting in her bed as Nora had finished cleaning her room.
"Of course Nora" said Wura as she looked at Nora.
"What is it?" asked Wura.
"My Queen, according to Wyverdale tradition, as you are now queen, you need more helpers" said Nora as she explained.
"How do you mean?" asked Wura as she was confused.
"Well my Queen, as Queen, you need ladies in waiting, as well as more handmaidens that will be able to help you, and not me alone" said Nora as she explained.
"Oh, I see" said Wura as she seemed to be thinking.
"Yes my Queen" said Nora as she nodded her head.
"My Queen, do you have any one in mind for the position of lady in waiting?" asked Nora.
"No… No I do not Nora" said Wura as she snapped out of her thoughts, seeing as ladies in waiting, needed to be noble women of noble birth, like her, she was the daughter of a Duke, which meant that if she was to have ladies in waiting, they would have to be daughters of Dukes or Barons as well.
And well now that Wura thought about it, she did not want to have any ladies in waiting, she could just imagine if she ended up with a person like Rosie as her lady in waiting, that would just be horrible, just horrible, besides, she did not need anyone to take care of her, she could take care of herself.
"Well my Queen, I may assist you in choosing the suitable women to be your lady in waiting, as well as some to be your handmaidens" said Nora.
"And what about you Nora?" asked Wura as she looked at Nora.
"My Queen, I am only your personal maid and nothing more" said Nora as she smiled.
"When you were Princess, I was the one to take care of you, but now, I am afraid that will not be so" said Nora, because in the end, she was only a maid, she could not tend to the Queen herself.
"Well I do not want any one else to be my lady in waiting, or my handmaiden" said Wura.
"But why is that my Queen?" asked Nora in surprise.
"Well because I do not need anyone to take care of me" said Wura.
"All of those things are just titles" said Wura.
"I am a normal human being just like anyone else, I do not need people to serve me, just because I say so" said Wura as she explained.
"But My Queen, it is tradition" said Nora as she was sure that this was not good, it was tradition for a Queen to have her ladies in waiting, as well as other handmaidens.
"Well that tradition has not been upheld for a long time now" said Wura.
"And do I not have a choice?" asked Wura.
"Did you not ask me, because I have a choice to make in all this?" asked Wura as she looked at Nora.
"Yes my Queen, you have a choice" said Nora as she replied, Wura was right, she had a choice to make.
"Good" said Wura as she smiled.
"So I choose not to have any ladies in waiting, or anymore handmaidens" said Wura as she smiled, it was as simple as that, she was not going to be forced to do anything that she did not want to do.
"As you wish my Queen" said Nora as she bowed her head, she was the Queen after all, and whatever she said goes, she was the head of the Castle now.
"Besides" said Wura.
"I prefer having you and you only Nora" said Wura as she smiled and Nora raised her head.
"I trust you, and you do your duties well, which is why I prefer to have you alone" said Wura as she smiled.
"I am flattered my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.
"I am honoured to serve you" said Nora as she smiled.
"And I am honoured to have you serve me" said Wura as she smiled, she could not have asked for anyone as nice, and sweet and caring as Nora to be her personal maid, and she preferred to leave things like that.
She would be a one maid woman, and besides, she did not consider Nora a maid at all, in fact she considered her like her companion, someone she could talk to, and someone she could rely on.
"Nora, can I ask you a question?" asked Wura as she thought of something.
"Of course you can my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.
"Where is his Majesty? King Alaric" said Wura as she was specific, she did not know how exactly things worked in the Castle, but she wondered if he had been buried yet, and if he had been, she would like to see him.
"Ahh well my Queen, he has been laid to rest in the sepulchre of the Kings" said Nora as she explained.
"Ahh, I see" said Wura.
"May I go and see him?" asked Wura.
"Well no my Queen, I am afraid not, the sepulchre has been sealed already, and no one will be allowed to see him" said Nora.
"Oh, I see" said Wura.
"Yes my Queen" said Nora as she nodded her head.
"Thank you Nora" said Wura as she smiled and Nora smiled.
