Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 165 - Meet them

Chapter 165 - Meet them

Liam stood there in adoration for his people as they chanted, this was a tradition that had come by over the years, the people would Chant in honour of their leader, it was a chant of praise and welcomes in the old language of Wyverdale, they were pronouncing blessings and kindness.

Wura smiled, to think that all these people had gathered here to chant for Liam and to welcome him, they all sang in harmony, it was just so beautiful, Wura turned to look at Liam, he was smiling so brightly, he loved his people and they loved him as well.

It seemed that their chants were about to end, and just as the people were about to stop singing, they suddenly brought our bouquets of flowers as they threw them up into the air and the different coloured flowers came falling down as the people laughed and Liam laughed, the flower throwing was always his favourite part, and even in the winter the people made an effort to continue that part.

Wura laughed, she had not expected that at all it took her by surprise, the way the people suddenly threw the flowers she had never seen anything like this before.

"Thank you my people" said Liam as he shouted and he smiled as all the people laughed and they cheered, Liam had heard his father say the same thing many times, these were the times he lived for as a Prince and future King.

"Shall we go down and meet them?" asked Liam as he smiled and he turned to look at Wura.

"Of course your highness" said Wura as she smiled, she could tell that he was very excited, and she had never seen him like this before, it made her happy, he was so passionate, and he adored the people as much as they as they adored him.

"Let us go then" said Liam as she smiled and he took Wura's hand which surprised her as he walked along with her, she looked at their intwined hands, it made her feel warm that they were holding hands, she did not know why she liked it so much.

"Please prepare the gifts" said Liam as he passed by a guard.

"Yes your highness" said the guard as he nodded his head as Liam and Wura walked away.

"Your coats your highnesses" came the voice of a maid as she walked to where Liam and Wura were standing and she had both their coats in her hands, it was cold outside, it had just snowed not too long ago.

"Thank you" said Wura as she turned to look at the maid and she smiled as she pulled her hand out of Liam's and she took her coat as she put on her coat.

"Thank you" said Liam as he smiled at the maid.

"It is my pleasure your highnesses" said the maid as she smiled as Liam put on her coat.

"Open the doors" said Liam as he looked at the guard who was guarding the Castle doors, just as a protective measure.

"Yes your highness" said the guard as he bowed and he nodded his head as he opened the door and Liam walked outside as Wura followed after him, and before she knew it, they were surrounded by crowds of people who were gathered around the Castle.

Wura was so surprised, the sound of the people's cheers as they threw flower petals on them as she and Liam walked through a path that was cleared for them, she did not know that Cornwalk had so many people living here, she had been here many times, but she just did not know that the people were a lot as these, they were as many as ants.

Liam laughed as he and Wura walked through the crowds, there were many people here gathered to see them, to tell the truth, being a Prince was not easy at all, not to even talk about being a King, but it was just the love that their subjects had for them, it just made them want to rule better, and make their people happier.

Liam held Wura's hand as she was surprised once again and they made their way to an elevated stone brick Platform as Liam went on top first and then he helped Wura up as he smiled at her, and she smiled back at him, she had never seen him so happy, even if he was teasing her, this happiness of his was just different.

"My people… thank you for your blessings and your kind wishes" said Liam as he smiled and all the people kept quiet as they heard Liam speak.

"It is with great Joy, that I tell you all today, that I am happy to be here" said Liam as he smiled.

"We are happy to be here" said Liam as he turned to look at Wura and he smiled as she smiled at him.

"Cornwalk has always held a special place in my heart, and in the heart of my father's as well, and I am sure that if he was here with us, he would say the same thing, that he loves his people, and their adoration and praise for him is exactly the same as he has for them" said Liam as he smiled and the people cheered.

"So once again… thank you" said Liam as he smiled and the people cheered once again.

"Would you like to say something?" asked Liam as he turned to look at Wura and she looked very clueless and surprised.

"Ahh…" said Wura as she hesitated.

"What do I say??" asked Wura as she did not know what to say at all, this was her first time attempting to speak to so many people, she did not want to mess up.

"Say something that comes from the heart" said Liam as he smiled, he admired her honesty, and how she admitted that she did not know what to say.

"Oh the princess is so pretty" came some voices as they whispered amongst themselves in the crowd.

"She is even more prettier in the sunlight" came some other whispering voices.

"Alright… from the heart??" asked Wura as she whispered into Liam's ear so that only they could hear what she was saying.

"Yes, and most of all, do not forget to smile" said Liam as he smiled.

"I am sure that they would love your beautiful smile the way I do" said Liam as he smiled and Wura sighed as she braced herself.

"Umm…" said Wura as she looked at the crowd as they all paid attention to her, and she turned to look at Liam as he smiled at her and signalled that she go on.

"I am very greateful to you all for your kindness and your warmth" said Wura as she looked at the people.

"And most of all, I thank you for welcoming me with so much love… because this in honesty, this is the first time I have stood in front of many people like you" said Wura as she was very honest, she was only telling the truth, she thought that the people deserved the truth, she was not one to act confident when she was not confident at all.

"So thank you all" she said as she smiled and the crowd burst into cheers.

"I told you that they would like your smile" said Liam as he whispered into her ear and Wura turned to look at him as she shook her head, he really was silly, but he was right and that made her laugh.

"Thank you your highness" said Wura as she smiled, she did not know what she would have done without him encouraging her, he had always been there for her, even if she did not want him to, and she really appreciated that.

"You are welcome" said Liam as he smiled at her, he was so happy to have Wura by his side at this important time in his life, he wished that it would always be like that, because to him, she was a ray of sunshine, she always shined even if she did not want to.

"You may bring forth your gifts now" said Liam as he smiled and he turned to look at the crowd, he knew the people liked to bring them gifts, even though it was not necessary, but their gesture was wholesome, and they accepted the gifts of the people either way, because they wanted to do something for them from their hearts.

The people cheered as they all lined themselves up to present their gifts, they loved to do something for one for their leaders, it was a way to show their appreciation, because their Kingdom was by far the best, and they knew that, it was that pride and confidence that made them so happy, so happy to be called the people of Wyverdale, to be Wyverdanians.
