Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 142 - Sincere

Chapter 142 - Sincere

"My boy…" said Alaric as he looked at Liam.

"Look Father, I know what you are thinking, and I did not mean to be cold towards her" said Liam as he sighed and he sat down across his father.

"My boy, what you did cannot be justified, you cannot act that way towards a woman, and much more less towards your wife" said Alaric as he sighed and he shook his head.

"She told you did she not father?" asked Liam.

"She did not need to tell me anything" said Alaric.

"I happened to see her as she left your office, and she did not look good at all, she even refused to tell me what was wrong at first" said Alaric.

"She came at a bad time" said Liam.

"My boy, that is no excuse, she was surprised at your behaviour, you had never behaved towards her like that before" said Alaric.

"My boy, no matter how much you are hurting on the inside, never transfer that aggression to others, and much less your wife" said Alaric.

"She had never seen you like that before, and she really did not feel good at all" said Alaric and Liam sighed as he felt guilty, he knew that the way he had behaved towards Wura like that before, and now he felt back.

His thoughts kept on going back to when Wura was crying, he had never seen her look so sad… so hurt like that before, her clears eyes had turned red from the tears, and he knew that he was the one that had caused that.

"Father, I truly am sorry, I do not know what came over me" said Liam as he looked down.

"I truly dislike this day, all is brings me is nothing but heartache" said Liam as he did not make eye contact with his father.

"My boy, how can you say that? This is the day of your birth" said Alaric as he truly wanted to comfort his son, but he could not do that until Liam himself wanted to be comforted, right now it seemed that he only wanted to be depressed.

"Father, how do I apologize to her?" asked Liam as he looked up, he did not wat Wura to be upset with him at all.

"I am sure that she had grown weary of all my actions by now" said Liam as he sighed.

"My boy, you will figure it out sooner or later, but what you must know is that you need to be truly sincere, and only then would she see your sincerity and forgive you" said Alaric as he smiled and he put his hand on Liam's shoulder.

"Thank you Father" said Liam as he looked at his father and he smiled, when he was in need of advice, his father was always there for him, and he appreciated that.

"You do know that I love you my boy, regardless of everything, you are my son, and nothing will change that" said Alaric as he smiled.

"Yes I know father, and I love you as well, you have done your best to raise me" said Liam as he smiled.

"Ahh my boy, I cannot lie to you, I felt indescribable Joy when I thought I was going to be a grandfather" said Alaric as he laughed.

"I am sorry that we raised your hopes father" said Liam as he laughed, while Wura was in shock, his father and Nora and the Physician were jubilation, he was just in doubt, because he knew that Wura could not be with child, it was impossible.

"It is not your fault my boy, mistakes such as these happen" said Alaric as he laughed, even though he did think that he was getting too comfortable with the thought of being a grandfather.

"But what surprised me most was Wura's certainty that she was not with child" said Alaric as he laughed.

"Well like I said father, we have not been together in a while…or ever" said Liam as he laughed, but he said that last part to himself.

"Ahh my dear must have been so stressed today, she really was not feeling good at all" said Alaric as he sighed.

"And that was my fault" said Liam as he smiled sadly.

"My boy, do not blame yourself too much" said Alaric as he laughed.

"Wura is a very kind and sweet girl, she will forgive you soon" said Alaric as he smiled.

"Father, you seem so sure" said Liam as he laughed.

"Well yes, because she is very understanding" said Alaric as he smiled and Liam sighed.

"Happy Birthday my boy, you are now 24 years old" said Alaric as he smiled.

"May God keep you like he has been, and may this new age of yours bring you more wisdom, joy and happiness" said Alaric as he smiled.

"Thank you, father," said Liam as he smiled, his father always had a habit of blessing him on his birthday, and that would always remind Liam how old he was, because quite frankly, he did not keep track sometimes.

"You are welcome my boy" said Alaric as he smiled.

"You do know that you no longer have to look after yourself, but after your wife as well" said Alaric as he smiled.

"Yes I know father" said Liam as he smiled.

"Good my boy" said Alaric as he smiled.

"Now go and get some rest, it is late" said Alaric as he smiled.

"I should be the one saying that" said Liam as he laughed.

"I am still your father" said Alaric as he laughed.

"Shall we walk to your room together?" asked Liam as he smiled.

"Let us go my boy" said Alaric as he smiled and he stood up and Liam followed after him.

The next day.

"Good Morrow my dear" said Alaric as Wura walked into the dining room and she sat in her seat beside Liam.

"Good Morrow your Majesty" said Wura as she turned to look at Alaric and she smiled at him.

"Good Morrow Wura" said Liam as he turned to look at her.

"Good Morrow" said Wura as she smiled slightly at him.

"My dear, how was your night?" asked Alaric as he smiled.

"It was good your Majesty, thank you for asking, and how was your night?" asked Wura as she smiled at Alaric.

"Ahh I am glad my dear, my night was good as well" said Alaric with a smile, and Wura smiled as well, she did not know why she had slept like a baby, maybe it was because of all her crying, but for once, she did not wake up early, Nora had to wake her up.

"I have been thinking…" said Alaric as he interrupted Liam and Wura as they ate in silence.

"The Physician said that you need to relax and rest well my dear" said Alaric as he looked at Wura and she looked at him.

"Yes your Majesty, but I am fine now" said Wura as she smiled at him, she did not want to worry him at all.

"I am glad that you are my dear" said Alaric as he smiled.

"But it is not a new thing for someone to experience stress" said Alaric.

"Which is why I have given it some thought, and I believe it would be best if you and Liam go to Cornwalk" said Alaric.

"What??" asked Wura as she looked surprise, even Liam turned to look at his father, where did this Idea of his come from?

"Yes my dear, I believe a change of scenery would put your mind more at ease" said Alaric as he smiled.

"I am sure it would do you both some good to be away from the Castle for a few days" said Alaric as he smiled.

"But father…" said Liam as he was cut off.

"But nothing my boy, it is already settled, you will only be gone for a few days" said Alaric.

"And Besides, I have been meaning to go to Cornwalk to check on some things for a while now, Duke and Duchess Cornwalk have been expecting me, but I have not been able to honour their invitation due to my health" said Alaric as he explained.

"So this would serve as your first Royal duty as Prince and Princess" said Alaric as he smiled.

"So my dear, what do you say?" asked Alaric as he turned to look at Wura.

"Ah… well" said Wura as she did not know what to say, she and her family had been to Cornwalk many times, and it was a very beautiful place in the summer, and she did think that Alaric was right, but if she did agree with this, she would be alone with Liam, and she did not want that at all, but when she saw the happiness of Alaric's face, she just could not say no.

"As you wish your Majesty" said Wura as she smiled.

"Ahh good my dear, I am sure that you both will enjoy yourselves over there" said Alaric as he smiled happily.

"The Carriage needs to be prepared" said Liam as he sighed, he knew he was not getting out of this now.

"Not to worry my boy, I have already prepared that, and you leave after dinner" said Alaric as he smiled and Liam sighed as he shook his head, his father had already been planning this for a while now, he knew it.

"Alright then father" said Liam as he shook his head and Wura wondered if she was making the right decision by going to Cornwalk with Liam.
