Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 90 - Personal Matters

Chapter 90 - Personal Matters

"Lawrence, can you please tell me why people decide to be childish when though they are grown up men and woman??" asked Ireti as she sighed and she face-palmed herself.

"Well my dear Ireti, foolishness is bound in the heart of a man" said Lawrence as he laughed and he removed Ireti's hand that she was using to hold her face and he put her hand in his.

"I would not have attended the occasion, had I known that all they were going to discuss was how Wura was going to be the Princess" said Ireti as she sighed and she shook her head.

Lawrence and Ireti had finished their meeting with the other Dukes and Duchesses, and the meeting was held by Duke and Duchess Williams, and they were now on their way home in their carriage, Ireti and Lawrence sat right next to each other, while Ireti was seriously regretting attending the invitation.

"I do agree with you my dear" said Lawrence as he sighed.

"It felt more like an avenue to show off, rather than to discuss matters that concerned the kingdom" said Lawrence as he shook his head and Ireti sighed.

Why were people like this?? Always so proud and boastful because of what?? Envious and Jealous of nothing at all, Ireti was disappointed to receive this sort of behaviour from so called Dukes and Duchesses, but then again, she should not have been, she herself had had her fair share of dealing with such people of the same calibre, and they all seemed to be the same, not once had she found one that did not care for such trivial things.

"They say it as if we are proud to be called the in laws of the King" said Ireti as she sighed.

"Although I must admit that it is an honour to be the in law of our great King" said Lawrence.

"But if I had my way, I would not let Wura marry the Prince, regardless of whether he is the Prince or not" said Lawrence.

"I know my daughter, I know her, and she is not the type of be confined to one space, she likes to adventure and experience new things, and now she has to face the burden of being confined to the Castle as the princess" said Lawrence as he sighed.

"If they are that envious of Wura, then I would urge them to gladly switch places with her" said Ireti.

"I do not care for such titles, they are all vain after all" said Ireti.

"I know that you do not my dear" said Lawrence as he turned to look at his wife and he smiled.

"Wura told me that Rosie Williams was at the Ball held in her honour at the Castle" said Lawrence.

"And knowing how Rosie is, she went straight to tell her mother, who in turn told her husband, and hence why they arranged this whole thing, to put us on the spot" said Ireti as she shook her head in disappointment.

"I am still baffled that Duke and Duchess Williams would just call this meeting, and invite all the other Duke and Duchesses to come and discuss our personal matters" said Lawrence as he face-palmed himself.

"All except for Duke and Duchess Rivet, who would not come down to the Capital all the way from the North for this nonsense" said Lawrence.

"And also Duke and Duchess Petaluma, who are busy in the east" said Lawrence.

"I truly did wish that we did not reside in the Capital, then we would have had an excuse not to attend that sorry excuse of a formal gathering" said Ireti.

"At least Duke and Duchess Smith seemed to remain neutral in it all" said Lawrence.

"Well of course they were" said Ireti.

"They do always support you after all" said Ireti.

"You mean us my dear" said Lawrence as he smiled at Ireti.

"Oh Lawrence, you do know that they support you mostly, I am not involved in that" said Ireti.

"But you are my wife, and if they support me, they support you as well" said Lawrence as he smiled at Ireti.

"You might think so, but they might not think like you do" said Ireti as she sighed, and she smiled sadly at Lawrence.

"Oh my dear" said Lawrence as he smiled at her.

"Things were bad, but they became worse once Duchess Williams received the invitation from the Castle for Wura's wedding" said Ireti as she sighed.

"You know what my dear?" asked Lawrence.

"What??" asked Ireti as she looked at Lawrence.

"I never knew that Duchess Williams could scream like that" said Lawrence as he laughed.

"I do agree with you" said Ireti as she laughed too, she could still remember the look on Duchess Rosie Williams face as she opened the letter from the Castle and she screamed and shouted in shock.

Things were going somewhat well, the Duchesses were all drinking tea while sitting together in the fireplace room, while the Dukes were discussing matters among themselves, Duchess Williams had finally shut her mouth with sipping tea, when her personal maid walked into the room with a letter in her hand claiming that it was urgent.

So Duchess Williams opened the letter, and she screamed, which caused everyone to rush to her, they all asked what was wrong that she screamed in such a manner, when she overreacted and she showed the letter to everyone.

"To think that she accused us of lying to her, seeing as she asked when the wedding was, and we innocently replied that we were not sure" said Ireti, she too had thought that the wedding would be postponed till the spring.

"I never did notice just how conceded our so called Dukes and Duchesses are" said Lawrence as he laughed, he too had rushed to Duchess Williams, thinking that maybe she had received a death note, or something even worse, but it just turned out to be something irrelevant.

"I have told you that for a long time" said Ireti as she laughed.

"Believe me, I have noticed that for a long time now" said Ireti.

"Well my dear, I believe that we too have already received an invitation" said Lawrence as he smiled.

"Well I also believe so" said Ireti as she smiled and she rested her head on Lawrence's shoulder.

"Knowing Tessa, she is already thinking of making a new dress to attend the wedding" said Lawrence as he sighed.

"Oh give her a break Lawrence" said Ireti as she laughed.

"Let her enjoy herself, she does deserve it after all, she is always happy, that is how Tessa is happy" said Ireti as she smiled.

"Yes, sometimes too happy" said Lawrence as he sighed, his little sister was sometimes just too much.

"Besides she is pregnant, and her emotions can be everywhere" said Ireti as she laughed, she was very happy for Tessa and Richard, they had been trying to have a child for years, and they finally succeeded.

"That may be true" said Lawrence as he laughed.

"I remember when you were pregnant with Wura" said Lawrence as he smiled.

"Oh please do not remind me Lawrence, that was the most tired I have felt in my life" said Ireti as she smiled and she sighed.

"Remember that you wondered if you were carrying a horse inside of you" said Lawrence as he laughed.

"Oh Lawrence, I was so tired, and your mother was not helping matters at all" said Ireti as she laughed and she closed her eyes.

"Oh well my mother… you know how she was, a very difficult woman" said Lawrence as he sighed.

"But I did like the many fruits you used to peel for me" said Ireti as she laughed.

"You know I would do anything for you my darling" said Lawrence as he caressed Ireti's hair and he kissed her forehead.

"Mhmm" said Ireti as she smiled.

"How come we did not have another one?" asked Lawrence.

"Oh you ask yourself that Lawrence" said Ireti as she laughed.

"How about we have another one??" asked Lawrence, he had been thinking, he would like to have another child, now that Wura was leaving them to her own home.

"Oh Lawrence, do you know how old I am??" asked Ireti as she opened her eyes.

"I cannot possibly have another child now" said Ireti as she laughed.

"Do you know that he and Wura would have a huge age gap" said Ireti.

"Well me and Tessa have a huge age gap as well" said Lawrence as he laughed.

"It is not that huge Lawrence" said Ireti as she laughed and shook her head.

"Aww, so what do you say my dear??" asked Lawrence as he smiled.

"My answer remains No my dear Lawrence" said Ireti as she laughed.

"I cannot imagine myself having a child at my age" said Ireti.

"You still have Wura, your little girl, so focus on her, I do not want another child" said Ireti as she shook her head and she smiled.

"Alright my dear, whatever you say" said Lawrence as he laughed and he kissed the back of Ireti's hand.
