"Father you said that you wanted to see me??' asked Liam as he walked into his father's office as Alaric was busy with some matters that were of the utmost importance.
"Yes, Liam my boy" said Alaric as he smiled.
"Please sit" said Alaric as he gestured that Liam sit down, to which he complied, and he sat down on the couch in his father's office, Liam did not look at his father directly in his eyes, he was still upset with him for what he had done earlier at breakfast.
"What is it father??" asked Liam as he looked like he was wasting his time here with his father.
"Liven up aa bit my boy, I am not punishing you" said Alaric as he laughed, he wondered with Liam looked upset with him, he had done nothing wrong after all.
Alaric stood up from his desk, and he closed the documents that he was busy looking at, sure they were important, but his son was even more important that those, and he was going to tend to him first.
Alaric smiled as he walked over to where Liam was sitting angrily and he sat down right across him.
"Please tell me my boy, what troubles you so??" asked Alaric as he looked at Liam with tenderness.
"What makes you look so upset and unhappy??" asked Alaric.
"Hmm?? Tell me my boy" said Alaric as he noticed that Liam kept quiet.
"Is there something wrong in the Kingdom??" asked Alaric and Liam did not reply at all.
"Did you and your betrothed have an argument??" asked Alaric.
"*Tisk*, I wish that was so, that would be even better if that was the case" said Liam to himself as he scoffed, and he kept totally quiet.
"Alright then" said Alaric.
"Did I do something to offend you??" asked Alaric as Liam finally turned to look at him.
"If I have, please forgive me my boy" said Alaric as he smiled at Liam.
"Father, I did not like what you said during breakfast earlier" said Liam as he finally spoke to Alaric after all this while.
"Well please remind me of what it is that I said, that offended you so??" asked Alaric.
"Because I say many things my boy" said Alaric as he laughed and Liam did not look amused at all.
"Well father, if you want me to say it, I shall say it" said Liam as he sighed, he did not want to say it out with his own mouth, it was just too much.
"Well go on my boy" said Alaric.
"You are aware that I always have all day to listen to you" said Alaric as he smiled.
Liam sighed, if only his father just remained like this sweet old man, and loving father at all times, and not the overly specific father that was somewhat suspicious as to wanting to being involved in the affairs of young children.
"Well father, I did not like the way you were improper with lady Diwura during breakfast" said Liam.
"Please elaborate more my boy, because I do not quite follow you, what do you mean by improper??" asked Alaric as he did not know what is It that Liam was referring to at all.
"My God" said Liam to himself as he sighed and face-palmed himself, did he actually have to spell out what he meant to his father?? Because it seemed like his father was innocent, when he clearly was not.
"*Ahem*" said Liam as he cleared his throat.
"What I mean father, is…" said Liam.
"is what my boy??" asked Alaric.
"I am referring to the matter of you discussing private matters between a man and a woman, during breakfast, or at any time at all for that matter" said Liam as he laid it all out.
"Ohhh, that" said Alaric as he finally seemed to understand what Liam was talking about.
"Yes father, that" said Liam as he sighed.
"But I do not see anything wrong with it my boy" said Alaric as he looked at Liam.
"I only wanted to see if you needed any assistance that I can render due to my experience as an older man" said Alaric as he smiled.
"Father!!" said Liam as he could not understand how his father could speak of such things with no shame at all, it seemed that his old age was really allowing him to have no regard for the delicate ears of some innocent people, him included.
"What is it my boy??" asked Alaric as he laughed.
"Well father, regardless of if you were trying to help me or not, which I doubt you were" said Liam.
"It is still improper to speak of such things in the open, and much more less in the ears of a lady" said Liam.
"You were too invested in your babblings to notice that Lady Diwura felt as uncomfortable as I did" said Liam.
"Oh but she did not say anything my boy, If she had said something I would have stopped" said Alaric.
"Oh course she did not say anything father" said Liam.
"You are the King after all, and she respects you too much for her to talk to you just anyhow" said Liam.
"Unlike me, who happens to be your son, so I can boldly tell you your faults, and today just happened to be one of them" said Liam.
"Oh" said Alaric as he seemed to be thinking.
"Yes father" said Liam.
"What you said was not right at all" said Liam.
"Lady Diwura is not that sort of woman" said Liam, and believe him he knew, she was in fact still reprimanding him because according to her, he was a womanizing scoundrel, well she had never for once said that directly to him, but her actions and the way she spoke with him, told him exactly what she thought of him, and they were not good thoughts.
In fact, Wura did not like him at all, she showed him that every single day with the way she behaved with him, she even said that she was marrying him to show him that she was not like other women and that she also was not an easy woman, which she showed him every day.
Which reminded him that she was going to see the seamstress today, he was sure that she had already meet her, and he wondered how things went, because knowing her, she could have done something very unbelievable… or not, but judging from her mood earlier, she seemed to be very happy.
Happier than he had ever seen her before, and that was good, it would be easier for her to adapt if she came to terms with things as they were now.
"Ahh my boy, alright I have heard you, and I will make sure never to say such improper things again" said Alaric as he smiled at Liam.
"Thank you father" said Liam as he was relieved that his father actually listened to him for once.
"You are welcome my boy" said Alaric as he smiled.
"But that does not mean that I will stop talking about the topic you deem so improper, while it is only normal human nature that we were created with" said Alaric as he smiled.
"I will continue to speak to you on such matters in private, between a man and a man, so that way, you would feel less ashamed of something that is only normal" said Alaric as he winked at Liam.
"Father" said Liam as he shook his head and he sighed, he had expected too much from his father, and he should not have, of course his father would never change his ways, but it did not matter to him, as long as he spoke of it in private as he had said.
"Haha my boy" said Alaric as he laughed, he liked to pull Liam's leg, Liam was too reserved and quiet, and you never knew what was going on in his mind, well until he was angry, sad, or well embarrassed, and out of the three options, embarrassment was the closest way for Alaric to see the true emotions and thoughts of his son.
"It seems that you really cherish lady Diwura" said Alaric as he smiled at Liam.
"I do cherish her father" said Liam.
"Because I have found no one like her" said Liam.
"Oh is that so??" asked Alaric.
"Yes father" said Liam.
"In which ways is she different??" asked Alaric as he was curious, he never thought he would see the day when Liam would talk about a woman so passionately, and believe him he knew his son, and even though Liam did not say much, he could sense that he really cared about Wura/
"Well let us just say in many way, she is different" said Liam as he laughed, as much as he loved his father, he could not just tell him every single detail of he and Wura's relationship, well for one he would not understand, and secondly his father was too old to get their reasons.
"Oh well my boy, if you say so" said Alaric as he laughed, and there came Liam's quietness.
"Yes father" said Liam as he smiled.
"So my boy, are the wedding invitations ready??" asked Alaric.
"Yes father, they were sent out today, right before I came here to see you" said Liam.
"Alright that is very good" said Alaric as he smiled.
"Yes father" said Liam as he smiled back at Alaric.
"Well then in that case my boy, you can go now, do not let me keep you waiting here" said Alaric as he smiled.
"Alright father" said Liam as he smiled.
