"Son!" Father stood from his throne. "What are you trying to do?" He shouts. His tone alarmed.
"Trying to prove to you all that you can't map out my Destiny for me. I'm a man of my own, there's no way, I am going to allow you to do whatever it is you please with me." I point the sword at the smug devil. "Today is the day we solve this between us. "
" And I'm happy to oblige you. " He smirked, "my wife wants to fight, who am I to deny him?"
" Shameless male with no honour! "
" And my honour will be proven by the duel?" Raising a brow, he walked a bit closer.
"Of course. If you can't defeat me, that means you can't protect me. Tell me, Mr devil, if you can't protect me, how can you call yourself a husband?" I taunt.
" Oh no, you dare not say such a thing, wifey. I'm your husband, and I'm capable of taking care of you. If a duel is something you need to prove my competency in protecting you, then a duel it is. Bring it on. " He motioned to me with his hand.
" Wait! " Father shouts.
"Why?" I angrily turn to him.
"Please, my Lord, don't oblige his request. He's only but a child." Father pleads.
" A child?" I scoff at his choice of words. " You dare call me a child when you're willing to give me up to him?" I angrily point at the devil.
" Shut up, Grys!" He hisses in anger," I am trying to help your ungrateful self, and you're acting like a spoiled brat." He shouts.
His words made me freeze. The words seared through my heart like an arrow.
" I see." I nod at him, "I am acting like a spoiled brat. I get that now."
" That's not…"
" So what do you say, Mr Devil? We duel things out?" I smirk.
" Before we do that, let's talk about the terms." Smirking, he conjured two chairs out of nowhere and motioned for me to sit on one while he did the other. "You can have a seat while we talk things out."
I widen my eyes at the chairs he conjured. My eyes go to the legs as I try to make the hidden trap in the" No, thank you. I prefer standing."
Who knows what he might do if I sit on that. That's no telling what the trap in the chair is.
" Suit yourself, then." He shrugs. "Don't say I didn't try making my wife comfortable."
"Can you stop calling me that?" I frown at his usage of the wifey word.
" Only when this duel is completed."
The entire place is now as quiet as that of a graveyard. Aside from our voices, no others can be heard.
The silence made me think we were the only ones here, but a brief look back told me the people are still there.
They're here, but dumbstruck.
"If I win the duel, you'll willingly and submissively be my wife, and return to HELL with me?"
"Of course," I answer without much thought. After all, there's no way he's going to defeat me.
I've trained for this day, I don't think he can defeat me, even with his immortal powers and all that.
"And if I lose?" Smirking, he gives me a look that says he doesn't believe I will win.
"I'll be free. You'll go back to wherever hole it is you came from, and never return."
"Deal." He stretched his hand out for a shake.
" Far be it, I'll touch your disgusting body." Giving him a once over, I scoff in disgust.
" Then, let the duel begin, wife." Standing from the chair, he flicked his fingers, and the chairs disappeared as if they never did exist
"Let's start then."
The devil closed his eyes for a moment and opening them, he has us surrounded by massive flames.
"What…." I jump in fright.
"I don't think you want anyone to disturb us, do you?"
" No, I don't." I look out through the ring of fire, at the villagers hitting their fists on the door that has, by some sort of strange happenings, locked itself.
" Everyone to your chairs! You're not allowed to leave until this duel is over!" The devil growls in a very deep voice, one that sends shivers down my spine.
As if having one mind governing them, the entire villagers all walk back to their chairs. Sitting on it, they all sat straight as if they were some sort of dummy that was being controlled.
Watching them, I need no one to tell me they're being controlled by the devil, whose entire facial expression is momentarily changed.
"What did you do to them?" I frown at him.
"I made sure we have enough audience to watch the duel. You won't want your victory to be only seen by you, will you?"
" I guess I won't want that." I turn to him. What are you waiting for?"
"The priest." The devil points at the priest, who was frozen on the dais.
" Why?"
" He needs to start the duel." Flicking his fingers, he points at the priest.
"Let… Lye… let… Let the duel begin!" He stammered in fear.
"The priest has given his go-ahead order, let's start." He sends a streak of fire towards me, one that only grazed my hair a bit.
I know he might try to play fair, that was why I stood my ground without making any move to dodge the fire he sent my way.
" What? You're attempting to play fair with me?" I raise a brow at him. " Bring on all you have, don't hold back."
There's no way I am going to allow him to fair with me. Should I win this war, I want it to be by my Power and nothing more. I can't allow him to pity me into winning.
"You said it, don't complain later." He taunts in that sing-song voice.
"I won't. I'm going to win this duel with my strength, there's no way I'll allow you to give the winning to me."
