Aria jumped up from the seat.
Shock ran down her spine along with irritation in her burning gaze. But as she prepared to dash near to the two, her friend acted up. Veda's hand sneaked into her purse in hurry. Only to pull out the gun she got with herself for emergency. And she aimed at the man's chest.
Right in the place where his heart was beating. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" Through gritted teeth, Veda queried. Her finger hesitated on the trigger. The way she grabbed out the gun panicked the whole group of men around so that their eyes widened.
Rushing up near to their boss with full of alert. However, Lucius's another hand beckoned them to step back. He commanded them not to butt in the situation. It was when the men understood the order and ignored the two. "Why the fuck did you murder her?" Lucius asked.
Ignoring the gun which the young woman was pointing. He gave no fuck about the fact that his heart could fly off of his chest in a split second if the young woman pulled the trigger out of exasperation. He focused on the confession more than other things including his life.
The man's reaction to her admission managed to confuse Veda wholly so that her brows wrinkled. What was his relationship with that woman? Why was he upset? The air sucked Veda enough so that she began to find it hard to breathe through the agony she was suffering.
This hurt like hell.
Force around her neck caused by the strength of the man was unbearable. It felt as if death had come to pick her up right now. When no reply came up from Veda, the man took his hands back instantly. Finally letting the young woman breathed. She gasped loudly.
But maintaining the eye contact still as the gun continued to aim at the man's chest. Her eyes glinted. "Why the fuck do you even care?" She hissed through clenched jaw. For nearly a minute, no response came up from the man. Lucius just stared at the young woman in silence.
His cold gaze landed on her only. It appeared as if he was considering about something important. "I went insane for a moment" Under his breath, Lucius expressed his guilt. "I am sorry. It brought memories back to me" He added up. Confusing the young woman entirely.
He really was a psychopath who was hard to read through. Veda did not respond at all. She checked the man from head to toes instead. Something was wrong here. Her gut would never lie. "You will be in no-harm list by tomorrow" Lucius vowed when he noticed the silence.
"What makes you think I would trust you?" Coldly, Veda retorted. She never put the gun down just in case the man attempted to injury her. The young woman's response and courage to aim the gun at him, amused Lucius wholly so that a smile displayed across his face.
"You truly are daring"
He asserted. The quick switched expression of the man quieted down Veda for some seconds. He was literally about to strangle her as if she just harmed someone who was important for him. Now, look at his beam. He clearly was something else. "I need proof right now"
Remaining in tranquility, Veda requested while staring up into the eyes of the man who was standing across her closely enough. His hand rose once again. Alerting the young woman so that her another hand reacted quickly. Striking the forearm of the man in hurry to stop him.
However, Lucius responded to her reaction. He pulled his hand back. Only to seize the gun from Veda's hand. But instead of taking it away, he just lifted it backwards and changed the direction. Everything occurred in a blink. Leaving the young woman in pure shock.
The table had turned around. Gun pointed at her right now. Causing Veda to gulp in anxiety. His thumb rested on top of her finger. In any second, he could push her finger with full of strength to pull the trigger. She had to be aware. She had to put all strength in her finger.
The scene panicked Aria who was trembling anxiously from afar. She approached near to the two for better information. "How do I prove, Miss Veda Ambrose?" A smirk tugged at Lucius's lips. Gazing down at her like a toy he favored to play with. It irritated Veda wholly.
She underestimated him.
His flex was beyond her expectation in fact. "Put me in the list right now" Getting straight to point, Veda ordered, authoritatively. Entertaining the man without even realizing. "It is unacceptable" Lucius turned down. "If so, you have to add two more in the list for not being able to do it"
Veda did not miss the opportunity. She grasped it tightly at right time. Surprising Lucius Ford totally. She always manage to corner him with unexpected offer. How amusing. "Did you drag your dear best friend into the mess you caused as well?" He replied with a question.
Pushing Veda into pool of guilty silence. "I did not mean to" Under her breath, she admitted. It was when the man let out a chuckle. "However, you requested to be in the list for yourself only in the beginning which means the deal is expired now. I can't add any other more"
Lucius shrugged and backed up instantly. Finally allowing the gun to get away from his grasp. It was when Aria let out a quiet sigh as Veda furrowed her brows. This man refused to walk into her trap! "I don't like to beg. So you better add two more people into the list"
Revealing the fearless side, Veda ordered. Bringing a satisfied smile up onto the man's face. Look at her being aware of his identity and yet managed to command him what to do as a threat. How brave of her to act this way. She did not even hold an ounce of fright in her expression.
Just maintaining a tranquil gaze.
"Only if you accept the deal" Lucius retorted at last. Hushing down the young woman wholly. What was he planning now? "What deal?" Veda asked. "First of all, I suggest you to put that little gun down and talk in relaxed manner" Raising his right brow, the man recommended with a smile.
That beam never disappeared from his face! It was frustrating for Veda due to the fact that he could act as if nothing serious was happening. "Alright" Without any other options, the young woman lowered the gun. But still holding it though. "Now tell me what the deal is" She instructed.
"You have to work for me" Straight up forward to the point, Lucius disclosed. Stunning Veda entirely. "I am a woman with tight schedule to busy myself. I don't have time to work for someone else" She hissed. "It is your choice then" Without trying even, the man shrugged.
Ready to go back to the seat. It made Aria frown in curiosity. What were they talking about?! She could not hear any damn words! She could only guess by reading the expressions across their faces! "Wait!" A shout echoed. Ceasing Lucius from walking away.
Promptly, he turned around. It was as if he already anticipated this to occur. "What do I have to work as?" While maintaining the eye contact, Veda questioned. "My assistant" Lucius answered. Smile smearing across his face which disgusted the young woman. Fuck this shit.
Why did it have to be assistant?!
"There are so many works to do in the field where crimes break out almost everyday. Why do I get to work as your assistant only?!" Due to rage, Veda raised her tone a bit. Panicking Aria who was observing. She rushed up to her friend in the end. Failing to restrain herself.
"What's wrong?" With brows pulled together, Aria wrapped her arm around the young woman's waist. "Oh, you must be the one who helped her to win the cards game" In amusement, Lucius stated. Causing Aria to gulp in anxiety. So this man knew all along?!
"I can't be your assistant. I already told you I am busy enough. Choose other options you got. I cannot shield myself only" Veda voiced to the man. Ignoring her friend for a moment. "There is no other options. Become my assistant and I will put you three into the list by tomorrow"
Along with a shrug, Lucius affirmed. It was when Aria understood the situation. "Veda. It is fine. At least you got to be in the list, right? That is enough. Let's go" In a whisper, Aria persuaded her friend to get out of the casino. "No" Shortly and sharply, the young woman denied.
"I will be your assistant but you have to let me work on the other side as well. Also I wanna see my name, her name and her mother's name in the no-harm list by tomorrow" At last, Veda agreed to the deal. Stunning the man and her friend wholly. Aria was furiously surprised.
While Lucius was satisfyingly shocked.
