Chapter 27 - She is mine now

"Count ten seconds"

Under the dim light, in the middle of the night where the whole casino was under deep silence, Veda ordered to the man while facing him with full of courage. It caused Edward to raise his right brow. This woman. Was she being serious? Didn't she find this terrifying?

How amusing. She must have got some schemes up her sleeves to trick him. "You better play this game for real instead of deceiving me, Veda Amos" he alerted. His eyes glinted in a beautiful way but with full of hatred in that gaze. "Oh, please. I am a woman of my words"

Tilting her head, Veda assured. It was when the man nodded slightly with a beam of satisfaction. This was going to be fun for sure. "You have ten seconds to hide. But you can't get out from this shitty casino" Rules set up. Edward clearly warned the young woman not to run away.

And play the game with him truly.

It made Veda grit her teeth. But then she swallowed the rage. It's fine. She could mess around with him and leave once the opportunity appeared right in front of her. Right. She had to hide this whole night. By tomorrow, her name would be announced in the no-harm list.

Just one more hour and it was going to be twelve at night. She had to endure sixty minutes here and wait for the next day to approach. "I am getting impatient. Save your words and commence already" Veda commanded. Furrowing her brows with full of displeasement.

It was when the man clapped out loud as his eyelids loosed. He shut his eyes and started to mumble the numbers for the young woman to get the hint that game had begun. In hurry, Veda grabbed the gun. Weapon was top priority. Then she rushed away from there in speed.

Leaving the man behind at the entrance alone. She could get out of here from back gate. But to reduce the time, Veda required an information from one of workers here to find out where the back door was located in this huge casino. Yet, there was no one inside.

Everyone had escaped.

Not even a shadow of someone else could be seen in this casino. All the people had left in fear. So, Veda got herself only at the moment. Or so she thought. "Zero.." A murmur escaped between the young woman's lips as soon as she settled down under the round table.

Time's up. Since the tablecloth was long enough, Veda was well hidden beneath the table. She quietly hoped for the man to not suspect anything. "Conceal yourself well. Otherwise, death would pick you up tonight!" Along with a laughter, Edward warned in raised tone.

Disclosing the time to hide was up. He wandered around the tables with a grin tugged at his lips. He was so happy to participate in this kind of life or death game. The gun inside his hand clearly showed how he was not joking around about his favor in hide and seek game.

He truly was going to kill the young woman once he discovered her. In the end, Edward gave up on finding the young woman beneath the tables since there were too much to search for. He was sure Veda Amos was not that dumb to hide under a table simply to die under his hands.

She must be in the back of casino.

She could be in bathroom, upstairs, behind the lounge or bar. And like that Edward began to hunt for the young woman by going to upstairs. Both Veda and Edward failed to notice the presence of Lucius Ford and his men. He hid at the corner so well that not even a sound came up.

"He went upstairs?" Veda frowned over the sound of leather shoes leaving loud sound behind upon the marble staircase. As expected, that man actually believed she would not veil herself beneath the tables due to the fact that it would be easy to get discovered. How boring.

He was easy to read through. This game held nothing to get excited in this case. Ten minutes passed. Yet, Edward was still in finding category. On the other side, Veda started to sweat under thick and long table cloth. Quietly cursing at owner for choosing this type of tablecloth.

"Veda Amos! You will have to repay for my woman's life! If you are considering on escaping from here, I am going to murder your little friend and her mother tonight! The first news you will have to encounter shall be their deaths if you dare to run away from here!"

Edward suddenly shouted.

Alerting the young woman since he knew she was inside the casino. His warning put Veda ill at ease. This psychopath was threatening her with her friend and aunty lives! How bold of him to bring them in! "Aria.. she is waiting for me" a murmur escaped between Veda's lips.

Thinking of a way to escape from the place. But then, out of blue, the tablecloth lifted right in front of her. Startling her wholly so that she flinched really hard. With whole body froze, she stared at the shoes of the man across her. Causing her to panic. "Fuck.. should I dash off?"

Veda asked to herself. No. That would cause much worse things. She had to accept this. "Edward Gable is here to kill you already, Miss Veda Ambrose. What are you going to do now?" With hands in pockets, the man queried. Attracting Veda's attention fully.

The man bent down at last. Making Veda promptly looked up. Only to see Lucius Ford staring down at her. Where did he come from?! And when did this man discover her presence beneath the table?! Poor Veda had no clue Lucius had been watching the scene from afar.

"Shut your mouth"

Authoritatively, Veda provoked along with a tightened frown. Bringing a smile up onto Lucius's face. "You know well that you can beg if you need some help from me at the moment" He reminded with a grin. Annoying the young woman wholly to the point she inhaled.

Restraining the fury from escaping her grasp. She needed to remain quiet and hidden from psychopath, Edward Gable. "Quit spouting nonsense. I would never beg someone in whole life. Especially, from a man" Veda hissed.  Seizing the tablecloth to pull it down.

But the man held it firmly still. Making it difficult for the young woman to cover the tablecloth once again. "The fuck are you doing?! You are literally exposing me right now! Pull it down! Quick!" She commanded. "No, just come out. I will shield you from that coward"

A beam flashed across his face.

"Could you please shut the fuck up and go away from here like you did not find me?" Through gritted teeth, Veda requested in an annoyed tone. Causing the man to shake his head in disagreement. Angering her totally. What was this man's issue?! Why was he interrupting her?!

"Listen, he is not joking around. That psychopath, Edward Gable is going to murder me for real once he finds me" Veda attempted to convince the man to pull the table cloth down. "But he can't kill me" A smirk tugged at Lucius's lips. Revealing he got authority than her.

It was the moment, Veda fell into silence of realization. Right. Lucius Ford was a crime lord. There was no way he would die under the hands of Edward Gable. She could use this as an opportunity. "Are you sure about shielding me?" With a slight frown, Veda questioned.

Causing the man's smirk to smear up. "Yes. Just come out already. My back hurts from bending down to meet your gaze" Through pain, the man disclosed. Causing the young woman to clear her throat with a frown displayed on. "I hope this is not one of the worst choices"

She mumbled expectantly.

"Where is Edward Gable now?" Veda queried before getting out. "Just come out. It does not matter where he is. I am here as protection" Lucius reminded. Calling the young woman out of impatience. At last, Veda crawled out of the table. Standing up on her own promptly.

"Found you!!" And a shout echoed from the back. Startling the young woman to the point where she flinched really hard. Her surprised gaze turned around, only to meet Edward Gable aiming the pistol at her already. "Oh, shit.." A murmur escaped between Veda's lips.

"Sorry, buddy! Veda Ambrose is not available to play around with you! I have collected her!" Suddenly, Lucius's arm wrapped around the shoulder of the young woman. Shocking Veda wholly so that her eyes widened. Looking up into the eyes of the man in pool of disbelief.

"Lucius Ford..." Edward mumbled. "Come on. She has some debt to repay. Pass her to me!" He apprised. Wearing a smile as the young woman gritted her teeth. These men were treating her as an object to toss around as they required! "No, I am sorry. She is mine now"

Lucius smirked.

Irritating Veda entirely.
