[+0.5 strength gained for crafting sharpened stick.]
[Sharpened Stick: +0.5 strength; sturdy stick that has been sharpened by crude stones. It's only slightly better than a fist.]
Seeing this, he understood the first part of the crafting skill of gaining corresponding stat points. It seemed as if he gained the same stat points as anything he crafted had. Thinking about the second part, he foraged around the area and soon found a few sticks the same size and sturdiness as before. Staring at the sticks, a holographic screen appeared before him titled [Crafting] with the only possible option being [sharpened stick]. Clicking on it, a wave of blue particles wrapped around the stick as after around 30 seconds a completed sharpened stick appeared before him.
[+0.5 strength gained for crafting sharpened stick.]
The finished product gave him the same stat points and it was identical to the original sharpened stick he had hand crafted. Seeing what it meant now, he continued with his sharpening as he began to full focus on making it seem like a weapon and not just a sharpened stick. As a result, he began to carve the body of the stick too to make it more uniform and better to wield. He also searched around the place for something that could be used as sandpaper and after an hour or so of searching and sharpening, he found a vine that could accomplish that.
[Sandy vine: Insides of the vine can be used as a form of sandpaper.]
Kai split it open with a sharp rock and then proceed to sand down his sticks body for a good hour or so. In this time his proficiencies were rapidly levelling as his [Crafting] had reached 21 already, his [Emperor's Eyes-0->5], [Memory-17->23], [Walking-61->69] and so on. The more he did something the more its proficiency rose and the better he got at it. He could tell already that his memory had actively improved while his walking had become smoother and slightly faster. However, the biggest difference was his [Crafting] proficiency going up in conjunction with his increased strength by 1. As a result, his carving skills became much smoother and faster as he spent much less time than before when trying to chip off the wood with his crappy sharp stones. As you could imagine though, the sandy vine wasn't that great as a sandpaper substitute, so it took him ages to be able to reach a uniform spear body.
[Makeshift defective spear: +2 strength, needs effective sharpening in line with the spear body to become complete.]
The description read as he looked upon his odd-looking spear. The stick was bendy and not quite straight, so he had to carve off and sand off quite a bit to make it uniform but as a result the spear head no longer fit to the size of the body. Kai was hopeful though as he knew he was right around the corner from having a complete spear! With another 20 minutes of sharpening and sanding the spears head, he was able to fit it to the size of the spear and finally completed the quest.
[Side Quest: Craft a weapon completed]
[Rewards: Northeast 20 Km is a village.]
[Wooden Spear (poor): +5 strength. Can be considered a basic spear. Poor quality. Made from weak wood and sanded crudely.]
Smiling widely, Kai's immediately looked at the +5 strength he had gained that brought his strength up to 25 already (+ 1 from pointy sticks, +2 from makeshift spear and +5 from wooden spear) so he immediately gathered as many sticks as he could around him and started automatically crafting those spears. The time taken was longer than before when he crafted the pointy stick, but after 5 minutes he was staring at 5 more [Wooden Spear (poor)], bringing his strength up to 50. The rush of energy and strength that filled him was substantial as he tested his strength on a nearby tree, blowing a large indent into it with just one blow. His fist wasn't damaged, so he continued to punch it and was able to bring the tree to the ground as if he was playing Minecraft. Next, he tested the spear as he stabbed it into another tree nearby, digging a hole into it but not piercing through it. With a few more blows than when he used his fist he was able to topple the tree but he thought it strange since he was using a weapon that should have given an additional +5 strength to his blows. Looking at his status though he saw that he had gained the skill [Spear Wielding-4]. He immediate caught on and realised that since his hand-to-hand combat skill was much higher, he was able to use his strength more accurately and was able to break through the tree easier.
Now, with a strength of 50 he was 20 points stronger than the average male on this planet and 5 times as strong as an earth male. He knew he would have to round of his stats since he was lagging behind on the others but the only way to do that would be to reach 100 proficiency in the other skills or to craft those things. That would take too much time and the sun was already at its zenith, suggesting it was mid-day and would be setting soon so he decided to make his way to the village. He no longer needed to worry about them since was he stronger and could defend himself with his spear. While he was walking though he read through his quests and saw that the different weapon proficiency quests gave him different stats depending on the weapon so he came to the conclusion that it probably meant that if he had crafted those then they would give him the corresponding stat. Thinking of that he decided to make a wooden shield so he found the tree that he had broken down with his spear and continued hacking away at it until he had carved out a chunk that could be carved down into a shield. The tree was quite big and thick so it could be made into a sizable shield that could protect him well.
The shield would be the size of his torso and with his higher crafting proficiency it didn't take him that long to carve it down and begin sanding into the rough shape of a circular shield. The only tricky part was making the handle as it took him a while to measure it to the right size for his hand. By the time the shield was sanded he had walked 5 km at a casual stroll and gone through 5 different Sandy Vines and multiple sharp stones. He was beginning to think he should craft a carving knife of some kind, so he decided to do that for the rest of his journey after making 5 additional shields with the system's automatic crafting function and bringing his Vitality up to 50 too.
[Wooden Shield (poor): +5 vitality. Can be considered a basic shield. Poor quality. Made from weak wood and sanded crudely.]
