"Tell me," Daphne urged, "maybe, I can help you and I swear to you, I will do everything to make you stand on your feet again."
She would love to have every kind of help that could be given to her. But the question was, if Daphne knew what Joyce had entangled herself in, would she be willing to help her out?
Probably not. Instead, she would throw Joyce out of her house for sure.
"I'm really grateful for you having brought me in for one night. There is nothing more I can ask you at this point. I would like to take my leave and not be a burden on you anymore." She wanted to be polite, so she framed her words with gratitude and politeness, which she truly felt.
"Hmm," Daphne did not look convinced. Instead, it looked like she ignored her gratitude all together. "I love a grateful and humbled girl, but as I said, I would like to know what happened to you."
