"The most important question is, Joyce, do you want to live?" Adrian's voice dipped to a soft, sympathetic tone. "Do you want to live at all, or do you want to live better?"
It had been a week since she had been to her home. Since she has seen anyone similar or even the walls of the house that she had grown up in.
By now, Joyce was sure that she must have lost the support of her brother as well. He was the only constant she had in her life, but it did not need to be confirmed that even he was going to be disappointed in her.
According to Adrian, when she had overdosed, and when he had found her, her first words were, she wanted to live.
That was enough to point out to what direction she was supposed to go. She wanted to live, so she had to get clean.
"I never thought I would say this." She sniffed. "Can you please help me get clean?" When she said that, Joyce gathered enough courage to look at him.
