Amara stood outside Charles' bedroom door, she took a deep breath and she knocked. After a few seconds she heard Charles telling her to enter. She slowly opened the door and she saw Charles sitting on the couch, he was wearing a white shirt and black pants. His shirt was not fully buttoned and Amara could see his chest, it looked hard but smooth, she quickly shook those thoughts away. "Uhm, father in law, may I seat."She asked and he nodded, she then sat next to him, his eyes were red it looked like he had been crying since Lacey walked out. "Uhm, I overheard your argument with mother in law and..." Before she could finish he interrupted her. "Yeah I know, I thought I saw someone so it was you? Well yeah." He said, he didn't know what to say at all. "Can we at least talk? Maybe I can help you out." Amara said. "You can't help me." He said. "Maybe I can't and maybe I can, but I won't know unless you tell me and I try." She said. "It doesn't matter you just can't help me." He said raising his voice a little. Amara was a little taken back by it. "Look, you can't be sure of that, maybe I might be able to help you, or maybe I can tell you what you shouldn't have done or said to her." Amara said, she really wanted to help him but it seemed like he was too stubborn. "Fine, I will tell you but under one condition." He said. "What is that condition." Amara asked. "You have to tell me the truth, the truth that you and Ian have been keeping from all of us oh and don't worry I won't tell anyone." He said. "W-what truth?"Amara asked, the last thing she wanted was telling anyone about what has been going on because she knew that Ian would not spare her If she did. "I know that the two of you are hiding something from us, you tell me what's going on and I'll tell you why Lacey and I got into a fight, deal?" He said extending his hand out for Amara to shake. Amara looked at him in shock, what on earth was she supposed to do. "Look, I only came here to help you, and nothing else, I don't know what truth you are talking about because there is nothing that Ian and I are hiding that should concern any of you. I am sure that you must know that it is not everything that a parent should know about their children's personal lives. "She said, without looking away from his eyes because she knew that if she did then he would probably suspicion would be proved to be right. "Well yes... You've got a point, okay I won't force you to tell me." He said. "So does that mean that you will tell me what made you and mother in law fight?"Amara asked hoping that he would say yes. "Okay, i won't force you to tell me now, but if you change your mind then tell me okay?... Well, there is something that I have been hiding from Lacey for years, and she figured out that I am keeping something from her but she doesn't what it is so she is mad at me because she thinks that I don't trust her and that a husband and a wife should tell each other everything considering that she is my best friend too. "Charles said. "I don't mean to butt into your business but what us that secret, maybe I can know and tell you if it is worth telling her or not." Amara said. Charles looked at her. "Don't worry I won't tell anyone, if I tell anyone then I will be struck by lightning." Amara said and Charles chuckled. "Which planet are you from?" Charles asked laughing. "Hey I am being serious here and you are laughing?"Amara asked. "Okay, okay I'll tell you."He said and he took a deep breath. "The current Lacey is not real." He said, and Amara looked at him with wide eyes. "Not real? What do you mean?" Amara asked. "The real Lacey is dead, and the current one is just an android that has Lacey's memories." He said. "What? What do you mean?" Amara asked still trying to process the information in her head. "Yes, the real Lacey died, seventeen years ago in a car accident, and I couldn't get over the loss of her, I was just too depressed so one of my friends who is and inventor told me that If I miss her too much then I should just make an android and put Lacey's memories in it. "He said, shaking his head, Amara was still speechless. "At first I refused but then I went on with it, seeing how I could never get over the loss of my wife and Dorothy was only two weeks old, I couldn't bear to see her grow up without a mother... Everything was going well until my scientist friend and some people started threatening me and they told me to give them four hundred billion US dollars because if I didn't then the would tell my family and Lacey everything. Ian is the only one that knows so went there the other day to negotiate with them so they made it seem like we had reached an agreement but they are causing trouble again... So I have to do anything to keep their mouths shut, if nothing works then I am going to have to kill them."He said.he looked up and Amara had the look of horror in her eyes, this was a lot to take in all at once."Wow, that's a lot, then how and when do you plan on telling her?" Amara asked. "I don't know how and when and, I am afraid that if we get a divorce and she leaves those people will find her and tell her the truth." He said burying his head in his hands. "But you have to tell her eventually, when you did it, didn't you think of the consequences, didn't you think that the truth would be out one way or the other."Amara said, she did have a point, there is no way that he would hide this forever. "Before you did it, did you not ask yourself how Dorothy and the rest of the family would feel, how the current Lacey would feel when she hears that she us jyst an android? I don't think that you did. How would you feel if this was the other way around. You were an android and Lacey was the one that had been lying to you all these years."Amara said, and Charles couldn't help but feel guilty, Amara did have a point, why did he have to do it, why did he have to be so stupid and selfish. "I don't know how to tell her.... I am the worst husband, I am the worst father ever. I don't think that Lacey would ever forgive me if I tell her." Charles said. "You are going to have to tell her, unless you want her to hear the truth from other people, I don't think that, that is what you want right?" Amara asked, of course not Charles didn't want that at all. "I am going to leave now, just relax and think of something don't I will help if needed." She said standing up and walking out, as soon as she closed the door, Charles couldn't help but cry, how could he gave not thought about the outcome of his decision? How stupid can he be? How selfish can he be?
