Chereads / Fated Baby of The Alpha (English Version) / Chapter 12 - Making a 'Relationship'

Chapter 12 - Making a 'Relationship'

Marion kept grumbling all the way to the office. If it wasn't for her father's medical expenses, she would not be willing to be close to her strange and mysterious boss.

Or would it be okay if Marion called the man a terrible person?

How come? In order to ask Marion to be willing to return to work, William then gave a strange threat.

Did the man think Marion would be afraid of any intimidation he did? Not at all. The girl was actually starting to be careful because maybe William was used to doing that to everyone.

Marion stepped into her room, where William was already at the table, and seemed to be waiting for her.

"What are you doing at my desk?" asked Marion, which suddenly made William make a faint smile. The man then got up, letting his assistant sit in her place while he stood across the table.

"You're finally ready to go back to work," he whispered, relieved.

Marion did not immediately answer but put her things first.

"Don't be so big-headed. I came back because I needed money for my father's treatment. But if you mess around, I won't hesitate to really leave this job!" threatened Marion, to which William responded by raising both hands in the air.

"Okay, fine ... I won't interrupt your work. For starters, this is your job for today." William put down a stack of papers which Marion immediately checked to find out what was inside.

"I know you're from the design division. So I'm asking you to correct all mistakes made by previous designers. I don't know if it's an uncurved waist, asymmetrical sleeves, etc. you can see there."

Getting a job like that is not difficult for Marion. Surprisingly, though, why was she hired as an assistant when all she had to do was design stuff again. Her former job.

"Are you not mistaken, sir? Why should I do this?" asked Marion, earnestly. She really didn't understand her real job. As a personal assistant, comfort woman, or . . .

William sighed loudly. "Okay, I'll explain. There have been some complaints about the clothes we manufacture, which are already on the market. My fault was for not checking everything carefully."

"Are you also capable in the field of design, sir?" asked Marion, again, to which William shook his head.

"That's what I'm lacking, Marion. That's why, with you here, I'd like to ask you to work on this. Only a few designs have received complaints. However, if you're willing—"

"I'll do it right away, sir," Marion answered quickly. "At least it's better than being a prostitute, right?"

William was clearly offended by Marion's answer, but he couldn't do anything about it, nor did he intend to refute it. He didn't want Marion to change her mind and go on strike again. For now, William might be able to breathe a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he had to maintain some manners to keep the girl in the mood.

"Who exactly is the boss here?" William grumbled as he arrived at his room. From a distance he looked at the connecting door he had just passed when he returned to his room after giving Marion an assignment.

The girl seems to have a passion for the field of design. Therefore William gave Marion a task that was too easy for Marion.

Marion was right, at least it was a better job than being William's mistress. Although that's not what he wanted from Marion, but the girl was already thinking negatively.

Well ... that's true, but from Marion's overall understanding, not all of them are correct.

Lost in his thoughts and dreams about Marion, the girl was now across from William's desk with the pile of papers the man had given her, along with a flash drive. And don't forget the tray containing a serving of steak and a bottle of wine.

"I've finished everything," said Marion, who received an undefined expression on her boss's face. How quickly did this girl finish what William ordered?

"And this is ... a portion of lunch for you from Leah. I just saw someone eating a steak and wine in broad daylight," sneered Marion, turning around and intending to leave the room. However, the man's deep baritone voice managed to hold back her footsteps.

"This is indeed my style. After this, it's no longer Leah who has to prepare everything. It's not Leah who has to know a lot about me, but you."

Marion rolled her beads, a sign that she was fed up with all the rules about her job. Isn't it enough that the word 'personal assistant' is just a combination of two words, without having to have such a deep meaning—as a mistress?

Dammit! Again the word disturbed Marion's mind, making her reluctant to turn around even if it was just to be polite to her boss. Unfortunately, she had to do that.

"Why should I?" the girl asked. "If Leah can do that, let her be your assistant. Why me, who knows nothing about you!?" She protested, which made William smile a little. A smile that Marion could never fathom.

"Because I want YOU to be my assistant. Not Leah. Is that wrong? Is there something wrong with my wish? Now have a seat, accompany me to my lunch. Shouldn't we talk more so you can get to know me better?"

Really, Marion didn't like this kind of atmosphere.

She should have asked Leah to bring the food for William. However, it was Leah herself who forced Marion to deliver it all to this strange man. And in the end, this was Marion's fate, stuck with a man who seemed to object to even smiling.

"Come on ..." William repeated his invitation to Marion with a hint that she could sit across from him. "Don't worry, I won't eat you. You can see for yourself there is a delicious steak in front of me."

Marion just laid her ass on the chair in front of William.

She really didn't want to overreact to what her boss said and just wanted time to pass.

She didn't like being around William, not because he wasn't attractive. No. William was more than just attractive. He is incredibly charming. However, it was his cold and arrogant attitude that made Marion lazy to linger with the man.

Especially if she remembers the contents of the contract agreement the other day, she really wants to run as fast as she can right now.

"You're not eating?" William asked, trying to sound friendly and welcoming, even though Marion knew the man must be in torment doing all this. "You can eat whatever you want, order Leah, she'll take care of everything."

"No sir. I'm still full."

"Isn't it your lunchtime? It doesn't matter if you want to eat first, you can go now."

Marion looked radiant when she heard William's words, she almost got up from her chair but failed when William spoke again.

"But ... you can't leave your room."

This time Marion was clearly annoyed by William's attitude. She couldn't understand why there was a strange man with such ambiguous contents in his head. If William allowed Marion to leave his room for lunch, why couldn't Marion couldn't leave her study?

"I'm bored if I eat only in my study, sir. I've been canceling lunch appointments with my best friend since yesterday, and now should I cancel it again?"

William seemed unconcerned with Marion's words. He was still enjoying the food in front of him. "You can meet your best friend after work, can't you? As long as you're in the office you're mine."

Marion stared at the words William had just said.

Looks like this guy ate the wrong meal today!
