Chapter 15 - Marion-style Games

Marion's heart almost skipped a beat when she heard her boss's words. The man was starting to dare to tease her, or was that a common question he would ask to anyone?

Maybe William was feeling uneasy right now, so he wanted to see if Marion had an interest in him or if it was just a formality between an assistant and her boss. To be sure, at this time William really wanted to know the opinion of the girl who until now he could not read the contents of her head. He doesn't know what factors that cause him to be like a fool, but that's how it is.

It was as if there was a dome of light surrounding Marion that he couldn't penetrate.

This is truly an extraordinary thing and has never happened in his life. That's why he was able to decide what to do with the previous women, while with Marion—the rebellious girl—William was in a daze, like an amateur.

"W-what kind of question is that? That's very rude, sir," said Marion, stuttering. "I'm just wondering what other women think, and can't believe a guy like you doesn't have a girlfriend at all."

"Don't get me wrong, Marion. I'm actually asking about your opinion, as a woman. What did you say just now, is that what would appear if our positions weren't as assistants and bosses?" William insisted, not wanting to let Marion off the hook after what she said, which naturally disturbed the man's composure.

Marion tried to hold back something that was starting to wriggle in her chest cavity, causing an uncomfortable feeling, but different and something she had never felt before. Feelings that sometimes arise sometimes disappear, and on other occasions it makes her even more uneasy.

How long had she and William known each other? Two days, maybe. And the effect Marion had on William—and vice versa—was incredible.

What exactly had happened to her?

"Could you just answer what I asked? Or if you're still continuing your question, I'd rather just go back to my room. This conversation is over!"

Marion rose from her place, which of course made William like a beard of fire. The man immediately moved to the place where the girl was standing, restrained her steps, and begged her to sit back down.

The conversation should not end unpleasantly. William did not want to feel uncomfortable in his heart because he was rejected by a woman. Shouldn't he who has to refuse? As he always did before.

Marion managed to turn the world of William Reynz to be upside down.

"Okay, okay ... I'm sorry. Go back and sit down. We can't end the conversation with this kind of anger, can we? Fine, I'll answer your questions, and won't ask questions back. No, unless you're willing."

Okay ... so much better. William should have relented like that.

Aren't there always rules in every relationship, whatever it is? Moreover, the relationship that unclear like what happened between him and Marion. Women are the only ones who are always right. And if a woman makes a mistake, then go back to the previous rule.

Wait! Who's the boss here? Why be William so submissive and obedient, while the girl quietly enjoys playing cops with him?

Marion almost laughed to herself because she felt that she had managed to play a man in front of her. It's no wonder that William is being careless with her because she doesn't hesitate to act casually with her boss.

It seems that the world is getting old ... it starting to lose its mind, until everything that happens is swapped and reversed.

"I'll answer now if you still want it," William said then looked deeply at the pistachio-colored irises. He was trying to make sure that the girl still wanted to hear a little story about him. Marion then nodded slowly, accompanied by a curse in William's heart.

'Dammit! This girl knows how to play with a guy's feelings! If it goes on like this, I might drown in the game.'

William cleared his throat for a moment. "I decided to be alone this whole time because I didn't want to or ... you know. I'm a picky type of guy. I don't allow many women to know the other side of me."

Alright ... that alone explains enough that William might be seducing Marion. Or it could be that the man was again wrong in putting the sentence together.

"Is that so? If there was a woman you felt compatible with, would you limit yourself too? Or would you give her space to get to know you better?" asked Marion again. This question was clearly not to satisfy a question about her, because Marion didn't care what William thought of her.

This was clearly about another woman, and about William.

"You ask it for yourself, Marion?" shot William, which suddenly made the girl stutter.

She had already said—though only in her heart—that the question wasn't for her, had she? Still, the man thought as he pleased.

"You know, there's no way I'd ask for myself. I'm your assistant, right? It didn't feel appropriate for me to look for an opportunity to approach my boss," dodged Marion.

"Marion, you've been so fickle, sometimes you call me 'you', sometimes 'you' in a formal way. How about we take it easy?"

"You said earlier that—"

"Never mind ... shall we continue this debate, or shall we go to my answer?" William said firmly as if he didn't want to give Marion another chance to argue. Especially to escape from the room that was starting to feel hot.

No one know what made the atmosphere in the room feel different.

"I think it's going to be a long and tiring day. How about I just go back to my room? I have to work, don't I? You have to work too. We're not unemployed."

"Fine, it's up to you. However, you can work here with me, if you want." William wanted to stop the girl's steps, but not in an overt way.

Marion looked skeptically at William. "Is this related to any of the clauses in that strange contract? If so, I don't want to."

"Jeez, Marion! Seriously? That again?" William complained, desperately. "Okay ... well, I'll keep it short, concise, and clear. I already said that your job is to accompany me from the office to the house. Do you have a place to live?" William asked, raising Marion's mind even more as to why this man had hired her.

"Yes, of course, sir. You already know. Why did you ask again? Besides, what's the problem?" asked Marion, a little curtly.

"So ... actually I've prepared—"

Knock knock!

Before William could finish the sentence he was struggling to put together, someone knocked on his door quite loudly. Making the man then stop the words that have been hanging for a long time. At the same time finishing or perhaps delayed the serious conversation between himself and Marion at the same time.

Marion was about to go back to her room, but William signaled the girl not to go anywhere.

"It's okay, Marion. Your place is here, so you shouldn't hesitate to stay as long as I don't ask you to leave." William then got up and prepared to greet anyone who came to see him at lunchtime and interrupted the moment between himself and Marion.

His eyes widened as footsteps came rushing in and revealed a well-built figure that William recognized all too well.

"Hey, Will!"

"DRAKE!"

The two of them then hugged each other like two friends who missed each other after a long time of not seeing each other. Marion just stood there, gaping a moment, noticing the closeness of the two handsome men in front of her.
